  1. Yeah...they've been using inaccurate tests and results for years now. The only way I was diagnosed with it 13 years ago was that I was so far hypo that they were convinced I had mono!

    ARCHIVED Help!

My vote is for the soup. There's no telling what she put in it. There are SO many things that people don't think could have gluten in them, but they just have no idea. It's tough and some people see it as impolite...but if you had a life-threatening allergy to shellfish you wouldn't eat any just to be polite. I'd rather lose a friend who clearly doesn...
  3. So I went to see my dr. this morning and asked for a copy of my last thyroid panel. I was so right. And I bet if I got copies of all my panels over the last seven years, I'd be right about those, too. TSH was 2.254 limits of .350-5.50 T4 was 8.0 limits of 4.5-12.0 I dont' know what the T4 means, so if anyone can explain it to me, that'd be great...
  4. It's pretty much the same thing. UltraClear Sustain - they tried to put me on that when I was in my early teens. No go. Now I'm older and willingly went on the diet, and I used MediClear instead. They're pretty well interchangable as far as i'm concerned. Constant stirring constant stirring...otherwise it might settle! Yay, someone's heard of it...
  5. Thanks, Liz! That's what I'm hoping. I guess my big question is that I don't know is if small amounts can build up in your system and end up causing problems, or how any of that works. I just finished eating a little bit more of my chocolate and about a half cup of soy milk, so we'll see what that does... Anyone else out there with soy intolerances...
  6. I've been on an elimination/detoxification diet for almost a month now and it's helped tremendously. It is prescribed by my kinesiologist, so I've had plenty of guidance. Basically you cut almost everything out: gluten dairy soy corn nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant) eggs peanuts caffeine alcohol sugar pork beef shellfish...
  7. Georgie, gluten and dairy intolerances are very commonly paired together. I would try cutting it out for a while and see if you notice a difference. Per your symptoms, I'm not really sure. I haven't been dairy free long enough or attempted to reintroduce it yet, so I don't even really know what it will do to me. I do remember that not long after...
  8. I used to take a lot of Tylenol PM, and maybe it used to work for me, but I don't like it at all anymore. I find it really hard to fall asleep on - it makes me very groggy but not tired enough to sleep. And then the next morning I have a TERRIBLE sleepy hangover and it takes me forever to get going. I go through cycles where I either sleep like a rock...
  9. Well I checked the Healthy Choice website...they don't give any allergen information. I would suggest calling the company again or emailing them just to be sure. It is, however, a ConAgra product. Which, if I remember correctly from reading on this board, is one of the trusted companies that will divulge such information. Perhaps someone else can confirm...
  10. As delicious as a gluten challenge sounds some days, I sincerely doubt I would make it. For me, a postive dietary response was the biggest thing and then I got some testing done through Enterolab just to confirm it for myself. I've been doing an elimination diet for the past month and feel way better. It's boring and I'm ready to throw a fit if I have...
  11. So, quick background. I've been doing an elimination diet and I just added soy back in two or three days ago. I chose soy because it's IN a lot of things, although I don't ever really eat a whole lot of it. The last two days I ate tofu stirfry, as it's best to reintroduce an item using its purest form. And while soy is IN a lot of things, I wasn't really...
  12. Thanks!
  13. I am beginning to reintroduce things after my elimination diet and the first thing I've chosen to reintroduce is soy. Why? Because I had a gluten-free, CF chocoalte bar that had soy lechitin in it. YUM. Anyways, the purest form of soy I can think of to use for reintroduction is tofu and I'm not really sure what to do with it. I made a stir fry last...
  14. I used Fitday.com for a long time, as well. Now I've gone back to the traditional hand written journal since I'm not focused on caloric intake and exercise so much as I'm focused on NOT eating gluten. Plus it's easier for me to see any connections by paging back and looking at what I ate and how I felt. But I loved fitday - very convenient! Congrats on...
  15. Alright, Turtle. Now all we have to do is actually attend the meetings!
  16. That's awesome! I wish I'd been diagnosed last semester when I had speech class, because I would've done the same thing. A captive audience to listen to me prattle on about celiacs? Awesome! I'm a big advocate of getting the word out there - I think it's a step in the right direction just for people to have heard that such a thing exists. Kudos...
  17. Ursula, I checked. My state isn't even listed! The closest doctor is in Asheville in North Carolina. Either way, I am in the midst of doing a massive thyroid dr. search because something needs to be done! I am having a lot of trouble finding a doctor in my area that I don't have to drive several hours to get to, although I am willing to do just that...
  18. Thanks for the update, Ursula! I am still in the midst of my hypothyroid battle, and I'm devouring any info I can get my hands on. Looking at the symptom list I was just reminded...During my last drs appointment I told my dr about celiac and how I thought my thyroid was still low. He looked at my skin, hair and nails, which are all in fine, healthy shape...
  19. I believe Shelton's turkey sausage is gluten-free - that's at my local health food store. And I think I also read on here recently that Johnsonville brats are gluten-free (except for the beer brats). Double check that one. That's all I know sausage wise! Courtney
  20. Yes, please post. I would LOVE to eat some pot pie.
  21. what's Oxycise?
  22. One of our family friends had brain cancer towards the end of highschool. He had several surgeries and essentially now has two 'trapdoors' in teh back of his head. Either way, that was almost 10 years ago and last I heard he's livin' it up in Colorado or something fun like that. Ski instructor maybe?
  23. Turtle Boo! I went to Publix on Halloween and they were giving out delicious candy and cookies all over the store. I looked like I was drunk, weaving back and forth to avoid delicious free samples. And then someone stole not just the candy in the bowl, but the bowl itself. After only 20 minutes. I felt sad for all the little kids in the neighborhood...
  24. I remember reading when I first went gluten-free a few months ago that there is almost always a way to substitute a recipe to make it gluten-free. Plus you said your family is SUPER understanding - which is a huge bonus. So, they have to use a different pie crust...big deal. At least they can sit and talk to you while they eat that pie instead of listening...
  25. Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Odds are that someone here has already wondered the same thing and would be happy to help. Courtney
