ARCHIVED Symptoms Returning Or Worsening With Periods?
Corkdarrr replied to Robina's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
No, you're not crazy - there was a thread about this not too long ago asking the same question. I usually get some D along with my period. I don't notice any extra hair loss though. But D, headaches, cramping, moodiness..all seem to be pretty standard. -

ARCHIVED Foods To Avoid
Corkdarrr replied to almostnrn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Funny you mention that...I had them twice in Michigan while travelling and had no problems. I figured though that since it was the McDonald's at the airport, they had dedicated fryers since they were so busy. Either way, I didn't have any problems. -

..And their response. Seriously - incredibly impressed with their timeliness! Of course this means that apparently I've been glutening myself for months... Hello again Courtney, It is my understanding (after just researching this), that the labeling process for Drew's (and many other companies) have changed the requirements. What you are seeing... -
ARCHIVED Ingredient Changes
Corkdarrr replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Now I'm thorougly confused. I just received a reply from ChefDrew about their ingredient changes...who says there haven't been any ingredient changes? I wrote back and asked if perhaps they had recently changed labeling policies because I KNOW the ingredients listed were different. (I also thanked them for being so prompt and clear about which products contain... -

Here's a link to celiac.com's forbidden list. I don't know if it will work because apparently I'm not quite as computer savy as I thought...but just go to the HomePage and scroll down to the Safe/Forbidden Links. Forbidden List EDIT: Yay it worked! So, I like this list because it has a lot of things you might see listed in ingredients and be unsure... -
ARCHIVED Who Do I Call?
Corkdarrr replied to clhsc's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would do a search for a doctor or a GI in your area who is knowlegable about celiac - obviously don't go back to whoever you WERE seeing. Or consider Enterolab as an option for testing. My blood tests came back negative because I'd already been gluten-free. Since beginning the diet, I've never considered going to a GI because I know they won't find anything... -
Tarnalberry, how did you figure out what your trigger was? I think we had this discussion a while ago. But I have since gone on a strict elimination diet - which also includes all meds. So at first I was having issues with rebound headaches (oops! Excedrin addict) and then my headaches almost completely stopped. They at least lessened significantly in...

ARCHIVED Ingredient Changes
Corkdarrr replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I didn't check all of them. But the two or three bottles I picked up at the grocery store and spot checked had all been changed. And on the back where it used to say Gluten-Free along with all its other merits, it just says Sugar Free. Whoop-dee-friggin-doo. Sugar free. That's what I'M looking for in a product... No response yet from the email. -

ARCHIVED Help! No Potato Chips?! (lectin Problem?) Replacement?
Corkdarrr replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Terra Chips have several varieties - originally they started with a mix of all different vegetables. But customers liked the sweet potato chips the best so you can buy just a bag of those separate. I've never had their mixed veggie bag since I like the sweet potato chips so much. but it might be worth a try. Courtney -

Sorry - didn't have time to do it before. This is from the Delphi list updated as of September 1, 2006. Sorry about the messy format! I tried to clean it up a bit, but gave up midway through. ARCHIVED Ingredient Changes

Boo! I was just at the store to pick up some more of the Shiitake Ginger marinade/dressing - which I also got my best friend hooked on. As we were walking down the aisle he happened to flip the bottle over....low and behold, they've changed their ingredients to now include wheat (and soy). We looked at a few other bottles and when I got home I looked... -
ARCHIVED Shaking My Head
Corkdarrr replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That reminds me when I first went gluten-free, and I was at the drugstore looking for vitamins. I was searchign by myself when the pharmacist came up to me and asked me if I needed any help. I told him I was looking for gluten free vitamins and got pretty much the same response as you - luckily I found NatureMade which clearly states on the side of the bottle... -
I am constantly impressed by my willpower. True, as Carla said, most of us just don't want to get sick! But I was having migraines like you - almost on a daily basis. And I'd had enough. I wouldn't call it willpower so much as desperation - at some point you become desperate to figure out what is wrong with you and will do anything it takes to figure it...

ARCHIVED Is There Greater Sensitivity To Gluten After Starting G/f Diet?
Corkdarrr replied to Susan M-G's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've definately found that I'm more sensitive to gluten since going gluten-free. I did an experiment a few months ago involving the fryers at work. I made some fries one day and got very sick. A few weeks later I made some fries in *fresh* oil and felt perfectly fine. That confirms both the presence of gluten in a nondedicated fryer as well as my sensitivity... -
Hang in there, Noel! It astounds me how much hidden gluten there is. The other day I got an email about a brand of paper towels that now uses gluten in its adhesive or something....WHY? As if this isn't hard enough already. Have you double checked all your personal care products? Especially things like lipsticks and chapsticks that you would undoubtedly...

ARCHIVED New To This Only 3 Weeks Now
Corkdarrr replied to valzues's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Valerie - welcome! One of the first things I started searching for was pizza crust. After several failed attempts at making it myself (I am NOT a baker!) I found Kinnickinnick premade frozen pizza crusts. They are AWEsome and my boyfriend and my best friend both like them better than regular pizza crusts, so that says something. I use Ragu pizza sauce... -

I like Stoli's flavors the best, too. The Smirnoff flavors are WAY too sweet. I agree with the above - you're going to be hardpressed to find mixers at any bar that meet all those requirements. I drank Stoli Orange or Stoli Raz and soda with a splash of sprite for a long time. The soda water gives it a very flat taste. Maybe a splash of OJ or cran? Stoli... -
