If you didn't have to wear 347 lbs. of winter woolies to stay warm, you'd be uber-thin.

I think this is half the country right now.

On the bright side, even if it's only about 15 right now the sun is out. With the sun it has actually gotten warm enough to melt a lot of the snow and it feels positively wonderful outside. Yay! For the short time the sun was in our back yard our thermometer read about 34. Went straight back down as soon as the sun wasn't on it. I wouldn't want to be out there without the sun on me, but overall it's a perfectly pleasant day.

Exactly!  ;)   And then when my eyelashes freeze outside that adds another 4 lb per eye and then the tears coursing down my cheeks from the cold hurting so badly freeze into 6 lb chunks.  So yes, you are correct.

QUIT IT!  You and your fishies and your beach and your heat and your palm trees and your warmth.  Who needs it when you could have this?

Welllll... Everyone is in the cold up there, so what are ya gonna compare against?  ;)

It warmed up some today after we got more snow. I helped ds shovel the neighbour's driveway since it was a balmy -6C. Poor kid was struggling to shovel the three car garage driveway - the snow piles and drifts are higher than his head now.  LOL   We had to give the kids the talk about tunneling through snow - don't do it unless there is someone there to pull you out if it caves in... You have some weird conversations when you just have boys.

We had a freezing rain yesterday , hubbs was on the way to work and totaled his truck. He is ok. truck is a goner, we went and looked at trucks and can you say sticker shocked? OMG!

IrishHeart Veteran

It's 87.

I went to the beach.

Sorry everyone.

(got hit on by some romeo. hilarious!)

moosemalibu Collaborator

It's 51 here in Northern California. I'm at home bundled in my warmies on another sick day from work (ya'll know how that goes).

I'd love to be at the beach, even with the random guy hitting on you.... Irish you sure know how to make a girl envious!

Adalaide Mentor

It's just a truck, it's replaceable. I'll drive in a lot of things but ice is not one of them. That is under my list of never, ever. Which is why I love Utah so much, we don't get ice. Just snow.

You can keep your beach.  :P It has been in the 20s with sun, which is perfect winter weather. Everything is white and it truly feels Christmasy. I absolutely love it. It couldn't be a more ideal December here.

love2travel Mentor

87? 51? 20s? Trying to make those of us with -35 jealous? I saw photos of people in LA all bundled up in puffy coats which made me laugh out loud. I would be walking around with a bikini. Well, with a sarong to cover up my wobbly bits but still. They have absolutely no clue what cold is!!!

IrishHeart Veteran

wobbly bits (snort)

I've got those! I've got those!

Thank goodness it's not just me! I have about 208 different wobbly bits and a couple of tight bits.

those"still tight bits" keep us in the game, sistah! ;)

@Scatterbrain, Thiamine Vitamin B1 and amino acid Taurine work together.  Our bodies can make Taurine from meats consumed.  Our bodies cannot make Thiamine and must consume thiamine from food.  Meat is the best source of B vitamins like Thiamine.   Vegetarians may not make sufficient taurine since they don't eat meat sources of taurine.  Seaweed is the best vegetarian source of taurine. Vegetarians may not consume sufficient Thiamine since few veggies are good sources.  Whole grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds contain thiamine.  Many of these sources can be hard to digest and absorb for people with Celiac disease.   You may find taking the forms of thiamine called Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and a B Complex will give the benefits you're looking for better than taurine alone.

@Jmartes71, I went to Doterra's site and had a look around.  The Doterra TerraZyme supplement really jumped out at me.  Since we, as Celiacs, often have digestive problems, I looked at the ingredients.  The majority of the enzymes in this supplement are made using black mold, Aspergillus!  Other enzymes are made by yeast Saccharomyces!  Considering the fact that Celiac often have permeable intestines (leaky gut syndrome), I would be very hesitant to take a product like this.  Although there may not be live black mold or yeast in the product, the enzymes may still cause an immune system response which would definitely cause inflammation throughout the body.   Skin, eyes, and intestines are all made from the same basic type of cells.  Your skin on the outside and eyes can reflect how irritated the intestines are on the inside.  Our skin, eyes, and intestines all need the same vitamins and nutrients to be healthy:  Vitamin A, Niacin B3 and Tryptophan, Riboflavin B2, Biotin B7, Vitamin C, and Omega Threes.  Remember that the eight B vitamins work together.  Just taking high doses of just one, vitamin like B12, can cause a deficiency in the others.  Taking high doses of B12 can mask a Folate B9 deficiency.  If you take B12, please take a B Complex, too.  Thiamine B1 can be taken in high doses safely without toxicity.  Thiamine is needed by itself to produce energy so every cell in the body can function, but Thiamine also works with the other B vitamins to make life sustaining enzymes and digestive enzymes.  Deficiencies in either Niacin, Vitamin C, or Thiamine can cause digestive problems resulting in Pellagra, Scurvy, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi.   If you change your diet, you will change your intestinal microbiome.  Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet, will starve out SIBO bacteria.  Thiamine keeps bacteria in check so they don't get out of control as in SIBO.  Thiamine also keeps MOLDS and Yeasts from overgrowth.   Menopause symptoms and menstrual irregularities are symptomatic of low Vitamin D.   Doctors are not as knowledgeable about malnutrition as we need them to be.  A nutritionist or dietician would be more helpful.   Take control of your diet and nutrition.  Quit looking for a pill that's going to make you feel better overnight.  The Celiac journey is a marathon, not a sprint.   "Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food."

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

Anyone experimented with Taurine supplementation either via electrolyte powders or otherwise? Thanks
