your cousin needs to be worked up for celiac, ASAP.  i know he is not 1' degree, but he is not all that far removed.

not to be rude or nosy, were you an only d/t miscarriage?  that tends to be more common in celiac women

Interesting thought!  Older sibling lived about 24 hours before passing.  Mom had a tough pregnancy (as she did with me).  Medical family members have speculated it was because mom had ITP in her 20s, but that's just a guess.  Never officially dx as a celiac.

Finally got my lab results today.  Positive for DPG IgG (12.0 EU/ml), and DPG IgA (9.9 EU/ml).  TTG IgA was negative at 0.5 U/ml, and EMA IgA was negative.  Total serum IgA by Nephelometry was 173 mg/dl.

Thoughts?

Now that I have the report, I'll contact the GI MD as we discussed above.

Thanks guys!

Two positives?  Looks like an endoscopy is in order.  When I tested, I only had one positive on the DGP IgA and the rest were negative, yet I had a Marsh Stage IIIB which translates to moderate to severe damage.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Make sure to continue eating gluten until the endoscopy is done. Push very hard for 6 biopsies!

Thanks ladies!

Reintroducing gluten (from my Whole 30) Friday.  Should be interesting.  So far, the only thing that has given me issues was dairy.  It'll be pancakes and a couple of beers on Friday for me...

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency. Vegans and people who eat few or no dairy products, seafood, and eggs People who do not use iodized salt Pregnant women People with marginal iodine status who eat foods containing goitrogens Deficiencies of iron and/or vitamin A may also be goitrogenic [51] https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessiona   1
