Just want to pass this along and ask if anyone else has had a problem.. I ate some of the chips--maybe a handful or two about 2 hours ago. It was the first time I've ever tried them. They say "A gluten free food" on the bag. I just checked their website and there they say that they are made on a shared line and they can't guarantee anything, blah blah. I am starting to get cramps and don't feel right. It's coming. Lost is on tonight and I'm gonna be running to the bathroom

ok Utz...i've seen their factory. the risk for cross contamination is very little, they have seperate belts for seperate things. if they say it is gluten free on the bag . Utz is a company that is very very reliable, I know many of the people high up in the company because I'm from that town....I'm not saying that you didn't get glutened however, are you sure it couldn't have been something else?

I eat there chips all the time and have never had any problem. Did anything else pass your lips?

No--I believe it was the chips. I had fruit for breakfast and my usual salad for lunch. I am completely off grains, so the only packaged thing I had all day was the chips. I had never tried them before--maybe I was just unlucky and got the occasional CC that they warned about on their website. Definately a gluten reaction--I still feel fuzzy this AM after an uncomfortable night.

I never had any problems with their products. I have eaten both the Sour Cream and Onion and the BBQ and had no problems. This is one company I trust, for me they are a local company.

The years I've been gluten-free I've heard very, very few complaints about Utz. It's the preferred chip for many with celiac. However, you take a chance of CC any time you eat a processed product.

it could just be that you haven't had greasy food in a while and your stomach wasn't that used to it. some people eat that stuff all day and feel fine, but to others who don't eat it every often it's like a little shock to the system the first few times.

What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
