Wow--that got there fast!! Well, it turned out perfect because today's your birthday--another present :D ! Hope you enjoy it--do make the cocoa--I do it with pure cocoa powder, sugar and the milk. It's so good. If you make up a pitcher-full, be sure to mix very well--use the hot water method on the label--it tends to want to clump on the bottom. Have fun--enjoy the rest of your day, and let me know how it goes! :)

I did use hot water, and i used my eletric mixer hehe. I made 2 quarts worth per its instructions. :D

How does it taste?

I need to order some, dying to try the "ice cream" recipes...

WELP I did not get to the hot cocoa but i tired a few things...

One in my strawberry bananananananana smoothie, I used it instead of stealing my son's tang. It added a intresting 3 falvor for it, I think it worked well. I think this will make a decent ice cream, but prbly simulare to the "light" of "fat free" ice creams, since milk fat is the secret power packed ingredient for texture in real ice cream.

Two as a cup of milk... not realy very good, but I am not a fan of drinking a cup of milk so prbly a bad judge. :)

Three in my cocoa puffs. Not bad! I think I can get used to it. Its SIMULAR to milk, but you can tell the dif. How ever, driinking it the "chololate milk" thats left over, not nearly as good as the real thing. Thats fine... I prbly dont need all that choloate hheheh.

So thats what I know at this point. I am getting more and more confident that dairy free is what I have to be.

Vincent--I see you're having some fun experimenting! I don't drink it straight, either--but I was not much of a milk drinker to begin with. The smoothie sounds good--I've been meaning to try that. I do like the creamier consistancy, though. Not as watery as rice or almond. Try it the next time you bake something--good. Also dry as a "creamer" in hot beverages. And try the cocoa--so good! :D

Vincent, I'm glad you finally got to try the Vance's DariFree. And Happy Belated Birthday!

One thing that I have found is not to try drinking the DariFree straight unless it is very chilled.

I don't like it as chocolate milk either, but I do like the Blue Diamond Almond Milk Chocolate flavored drink. It is so smooth and chocolatey! That is what I drink for chocolate milk. The DariFree is really good for cooking/baking too.

Kasey's Mom, could you send me the recipe for ice cream made with DariFree? I would appreciate it. And does it work best in an ice cream maker?

I was thinking of ordering some of this but was gonna wait awhile. Today I happened to see it at the gluten-free store in my area so I bought some. I havent tried it yet but I couldnt believe the price on it! Its like a quart size carton and it was $9.99!!!

Does that sound right...or is the price way jacked up? How long does one of those cartons last? I wasnt expecting it to be a powder....at that price price I'm not gonna go crazy with the stuff.

One container makes six quarts. Un mixed, if stored in airtight contianer, they will last a year, mixed with water (use the hot water directions, IMO. I used a blender to mix), it will last a week.

Yippee!! I think you're really going to like it--let us know :D

For those that think its to pric, I just ordered a case, thats 36quarts of milk. With shippint/etc came to about $52.

$52/36 = about $1.45 per quart of milk. Or about $2.90 per 1/2 gallon. Thats about the same price as soy milk, and and the other milk alternatives that I have seen. The only real way to save money is to get "real" cows milk, but if you cant tolerate it, this is about the same price as the other choices... :)

Just somthing to think about.... :D

Meanwile... I'll just eat my cearl dry until it arrives! :(

Has anyone made the icecream yet??? There are several recipes and I'm not sure which one is best. They also say the oil is optional--and I wondered if someone had made it--is it better with or without? Or will I be the first one??

jerseyangel Proficient

I still haven't gotten an ice cream maker yet! But I will. Vance's sent me a few ice cream recipes--I think one was strawberry and a couple others. Are these the ones you have? I know the ones I have use oil--

I just got tried the chocolate milk, I thought it tasted really good, but it is a bit too sweet for my tastes.

I got 6 quarts of the plain milk but I haven't tried them yet.

Okay, so I am hopefully going to make icecream with Vance's this weekend. Vincent--did you try any other flavors besides vanilla/chocolate? I wondered about trying to make a butter pecan or something. Although, I'll probably just start out with vanilla. Excited.... :D I do like the milk... It reminds me a bit of a protein shake...

Nancym Enthusiast

I tried making yogurt with the plain "milk". LOL! The bacteria ate all the potato out of it, leaving behind the water. It was funny. I think I will try again.

No, Ihave not had time to try again... sorry

But any way you normally flavor your ice cream should work :)

OK - I am now sold! I am paying $2.99 per quart for my hazelnut milk - even with the shipping I will be saving money and if it tastes more like regular milk - all the better!!! It will have to wait until I get paid on Friday though...

I would really like some ice cream now...thank you.

jerseyangel Proficient

I am such an idiot--I was in Wal Mart this morning, and meant to look at ice cream makers--I'm dying to try the Vance's recipe! Well, I forgot--I remembered only what was on my list--I guess I now have to write everything down

If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
