Thanks Floridian. I do get more sensitive leading up to my period....everything I read says ovarian cysts are totally normal in menstruating females. How will they really know if mine are normal or not? That confuses me. Thanks for helping me out with this...its making me feel better talking about it. :)

I was reading some of the questions to the doctor...saw something about cysts. I think I may post some questions. See what this guy says. Thanks. :)

Hormones in animal farming

Sex hormones are used to speed up the development of animals so they can be sent to market faster. Humans are also sensitive to these hormones. Eating meat that contains unacceptably high levels of hormones can lead to many side effects in people, including breast enlargement and ovarian cysts.

Cows in this country are routinely given recombinant boine growth hormone AND constant "prophylactic" antibiotics which passes into their milk, along with the pesticides in the feed that they consume. All that garbage is present in milk and all milk poducts, unless you spend a fortune and buy everything organic.

Girls today are getting their periods at the age of 9 or sometimes even earlier. There are several girls in my son's 5th grade class that wear much-needed bras. Gee, I wonder why.

I did react to the cucumber cuz right after I ate it my head and nose started swelling and. My mucus membranes get "sticky". This is what happens with me and chemicals so it was probably cuz it wasnt organic.

Question

You said that your head and nose started swelling and or your mucus membranes got sticky.

Did your nose or thoat feel sticky? Or slimey?

Do you get that stickiness with all reactions? What do you think it might be?

Thats interesting because I get "sticky" too. I think that could be mucus, since its coming from the mucus membranes.

Mainly in my nose and throat. After meals. Mainly all the time. At its worst when I react, to somthing, I cant eat cucumbers very well. or dried fruits.

The eyes, nose, throat are all mucus membranes.

thanks for your response.

Rachel--the doctor will know exactly what kind of cyst you have from the ultrasound. Mine are 'functional' meaning they are normal and clear--nothing in them. What I am not clear on is if it's the same cyst, or a different one. The tech. that did the ultrasound said that if I had a cyst before, I wouldn't still have it. The nurse in the doctor's office said the same thing when I was describing my pain to her. Of course the doctor thinks the pain is due to the fibroid--but it's only on the left side <_<

Fiddle Faddle--My niece started her period at age 9.

OMG--I just noticed that 7 more posts and this thread hits 1000! :D

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your reply. When I use baking soda for my teeth I get a white line on the inside of my cheeks.

It also starts swelling. A few days later the tip of my tong develops something that looks like a cyst.

I had issues with whitening toothpaste before and had to go to the dentist.

That was about two years ago. The dentist was shocked and said it looks like a second degree burning.

Like I poured acid in my mouth.

It hurt like crazy. Not a fun thing to have.

Hi Manja,

I am wondering if you have a problem with all forms of sodium? Someone else on the board in another thread was told by their doctor that baking soda is a form of salt, so maybe that is why you react to it as well?

Julie, You are right. I think it was Betty that had a terrible reaction to salt/baking soda.

Rachel - about the cucumbers...I was buying organic from Whole Foods but when I would wash them I could feel a sticky almost gel like substance on the skins that wouldn't come off...I always peel mine, but am sure that some of it gets on the peeler and back on the cucumber....then I just happened to see Rachel Ray on the Food Network who always buys the "english" cucumbers--the ones in the plastic wrap--because she says they don't have that sticky gel stuff on them. I was thinking it was my imagination, but no, guess not. So I've been buying the really long skinny ones in the plastic wrap and haven't noticed any stickiness on the skins when I wash them...bonus, they have very few seeds.

Julie and Armetta,

{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}

Hope your day goes better tomorrow. This board has been pretty quiet today. I was having a kinda down night last night as well. What is it with us, is it the weather (that's the typical excuse up here). Time to cheer up, the sun is out (just came out after a torrential downpour here). Well, I think I'm doing better for one because the little one only decided to wake up once last night and my older ones decided to let me sleep in. He used to sleep through but had recently started waking up twice. I didn't get up until 9:00. Also it's the weekend and my hubby is home. :D:P:rolleyes: He always brightens my day.

The sun'll come out

Tomorrow

Bet your bottom dollar

That tomorrow

There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about

Tomorrow

Clears away the cobwebs,

And the sorrow

'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day

That's gray,

And lonely,

I just stick out my chin

And Grin,

And Say,

Oh!

The sun'll come out

Tomorrow

So ya gotta hang on

'Til tomorrow

Come what may

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!

I love ya Tomorrow!

You're always

A day

A way!

Thanks Andrea for the hugs, and the song. It was really helpful and so true, the sun will come out tomorrow and tomorrow is always another day to try and try again :) I hope you are feeling more chipper yourself.

I love your new picture, it's always so nice to put a face to the name. Is that Seth with you? I am in love with him, he could not be any cuter!!

No wonder you got sick Rachel, why do they have to put so much crap and junk on/in our food?!?!

Hi jersey, thanks for helping me out, I couldn't remember who it was. You seem to know everyone around here and everything that is going on!

I am so glad to hear you are feeling really good, other than the glutening that happened the other day, sounds like though you recovered pretty quickly. What progress!

Jersey,

My mom has been waiting for that. She keeps asking me "Has that thread reached 1000 yet? Let me know when it does." She's all excited about that.

Arent fibroids in the middle? My doctor didnt tell me what kind of cysts I have cuz she was too busy worrying about my ringback tones.

I cannot believe girls are getting their periods at age 9! :o

I cant post anymore till I get to my mom's house because my computer is totally freaking out and the disc drive wont stop opening and closing still. It wont let me type as it does this.

So true Fiddle Faddle, but it is also presenting problems for the men/boys and their systems. They are getting too many estrogens from meat, dairy, etc. and I read there might be a connection to this and infertility (in men) and ED.

miamia Rookie
I started taking my digestive enzymes again cuz last time I was taking them it seemed like I was having less reactions...we'll see how I do now. I'm gonna call the pharmacy tomorrow...I posted last week about some drug that my doctor perscribed for healing the gut. I never called about it and the pharmacy was leaving me messages trying to get ahold of me cuz they have my prescription. I guess I'll try that too.

Thanks Floridian,

I sweat alot at night but not every night....it comes and go. Its pretty normal for me to wake up in the morning with my clothes slightly damp. I used to have massive nightsweats that left me and my bed drenched but that was prior to my diet changes. I dont get it that bad anymore and for awhile I wasnt getting them at all so figured it was all diet related. I guess the cyst could be causing some type of imbalance and my body is just not handling certain foods/chemicals very well...I just couldnt find any info. on this.

I forget why you had the cysts removed...were they too big and causing pain? I was looking back at my first journal and when I had my most worst days as far as swelling, sensitivites, fatigue, etc...I was also saying that I was ovulating and having cramps. But I wasnt consistent enough with my journal to know for sure if this was always the case....this was back when I was still eating mcdonalds and taco bell.

I do remember that the time around ovulation was always when my symptoms seemed worse cuz I used to talk about this. I used to look forward to my period coming because for some reason after my period came I'd feel better for a few days but that was it....I only felt good maybe 3 days out of the month.

I was feeling really good about a week and a half ago...I remember posting that I was happy and nothing could bring me down. Once the ovulation came I started getting worse and still not feeling good yet. Do the cysts get more "active" at certain times? Maybe thats a dumb question because maybe the cysts dont really *do* anything....I just dont know alot about cysts.

Rachel-

which Digestive enzymes do you take? I am sensitive to everything and seem to be ok with mine they are one of the only things I am still taking. I am curious as to what the meds they are gonna give you for your gut are. You'll have to let me know when you find out the name. I've been off corn and I think its a good thing but I used to eat these plan tortillas the only ingredient was sprouted corn nothing else. I was thinking if there was nothing else in them at all could I try them again? I guess Iw as just curious on other peoples opinions.

I think I've determined that corn, msg, etc. is really probably NOT my problem, but any processed foods do seem to eventually cause me problems...not sure exactly WHAT the cause is...I"m thinking it's synergistic...the more I eat of the processed stuff the more it bothers me. When I lay off for a while I'm able to do just fine with a couple of processed items here and there and can eat things like mayo etc more regularly. So while I think I can eat corn and products which may contain a bit of msg without problem, I can't eat a lot of them or eventually my body builds up a toxic level and starts to cause problems.

My chicken experiment was interesting. For years I suffered from an intense, almost internal itch on my left heel--bad enough to wake me up and keep me awake in the middle of the night. I've seen allergists and dermatologists about it and tried creams, antihistamines, etc with no real help. At times in the last few years it has been a constant daily itch and at times it has gone away completely, so I've always suspected it was related to something I was eating or some product I was using. This week I began to suspect chicken because I haven't had that itch for several days...coincidentally haven't had any chicken in that time either. So, Friday I had chicken for two of my meals. Yesterday, throughout most of the day I had the heel itch! My legs itched just slightly so I"m tending to think that is just really dry skin which the coconut oil seems to be helping. This morning my heel doesn't itch at all!

That just confirms in my mind that my reactions are fairly delayed (i.e., not on the same day as I eat the food, but several hours to a day later) and that chicken is suspect. I plan to test this out again later in the week to be sure.

I have similar experiences dlp. What I don't understand is I seem to be able to eat corn on the cob and fresh tamales with no problem, but when I eat processed corn or corn derivatives I get super super sick. I am starting to think about the synergistic phenomenon too, as far as other ingredients mixed together. When I have processed corn or corn derivatives in packaged/canned foods it usually with salt (i.e. corn chips) or sugar (i.e. cookies) and I think these things seem to make the "corn" pack a more powerful punch as far as the reaction goes.

I also seem to be able to eat a little bit of processed food, or I can get away with a very small amount, and then if I go over that it is like the point of no return and my body reacts and keeps reacting more and more unless I take the food out of my diet entirely.

Interesting about your chicken challenge. Keep us posted what happens next with that.

Julie,

That is Seth when he was about 4 months old. The camera battery had been replaced and I forgot to reset the date on the camera. He's almost 7 months old now. Seth is a really happy baby overall. He plays a game with Daddy now where he tilts his head to the side. Must get it from me. We get family pictures taken every Oct-Nov so I'll post a family pic then. Otherwise, I'll just do updates occassionaly.

It's funny about the song. I haven't thought of it for years and that's the first thing that popped into my mind as I started typing. I had to look up the words though. :P

Mitch (my hubby) is almost to the point where he has to quit drinking his fluids in prep for tomorrow. He won't get to eat until dinner time. Such a bummer, but at least he got in quick for the colonoscopy. At least it's not Tues, Wed, or Thur...those seem to be the busiest days.

Why thank you! Oddly, Rachel Ray is one of my least favorite show hosts, but I do like her show, lol. She always has the most interesting tips. I didn't notice the sticky stuff when I first started buying cucumbers...that may be because I wasn't trying to really wash them...I was just rinsing them off...when I started to wash them with soap that's when I noticed the sticky stuff. It kind of turned my stomach...people eat cucumbers all the time without peeling them... :o

I am loving seeing all the pictures up of everyone!

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
