I'm thinking we might be a couple posts short of being relocated down to the "Gab" category

Donna, was the book on inflammation you were looking at Dr Pericone's by chance?? Just curious.

 Good one Mango, auxigro detecting geese!

Since you are an adventurous one, you like to go over the hill to the mall and to travel to distant lands, maybe you can bring us isolated folk news form other civilizations? You know, our hub to the outside world? Just a thought.

Good idea. I'll be the adventurer/researcher (or something like that). I'll travel to distant lands to bring back news and information...but I'm still only eating food that's grown in Rachelville :)

and I can be nice to everyone, like the Walmart greeter. I'll be the Rachelville greeter

Yes, yes, we'll need this after I finish putting the attack geese after unsuspecting glutenous folks who wander on to our cult farm!

I don't think so...I think I would have remembered Pericone...I think I did buy one of his books a couple of years ago, but don't remember if I finished reading it, lol. I'll have to see if I can find it online. Course, guess it would help if I could remember either the name of the book or the author.

Can our town have no humidity??? I hate the stuff.

If I can leave the dogs in charge of the geese for a few hours, I want to help with decorating the powder rooms in our little houses. I'm a faux finish and decorative finish artist, and I have quite a collection of paint, but I know my limitations. Powder rooms are just my size! I'm also pretty good at small repairs around the house, so I'm happy to know there'll be a Lowes and a Home Depot at the other-side-of-the-mountain mall. We'll need a good fabric store too, to add to my collection. I'm insane when around fabric! I can't resist buying everything I fall in love with, much to my husband's chagrin. I can't help myself; it's a sickness. :P I'm leaving dear hubby in Georgia, by the way. Rachelville doesn't need an overly cautious, unimaginative pessimist, and besides, he'll be perfectly content hanging around here.

About our lake - What if we dam up our mountain stream to make a lake? I think we could do it so that the stream would keep flowing out the other side of the lake. Is there an engineer in our town?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

This whole thing is just cracking me up more and more.....Cissie of COURSE your husband can come, we'll reform him....and yes, the dogs will be more than happy to watch the geese while you (can I help?) faux finish and paint the POWER ROOMS (such a civilized term, I love it)

FABRIC....I am going mad with fabric on ebay....just ordered an antique Uzbek ikat in raspberry and cream linen/silk - - am going to make (have made - you don't want me sewing) two pillows for couch w/ fringe....a great deal, you must check out ebay for fabric! If not we can send Mango to other countries for our exotic textiles - - she can get Maori prints from Australia, but we need someone from Africa to send us Kuba cloth, and England to send us fantastic linens and cottons - - - there will be no pedestrian fabrics in Rachelville.....

Julie, you are going to be the Ambassador of Adorableness and Good Cheer!!!

Vincent, yes, exactly what Andrea said, you will be breaking adn digging up the ground...

Andrea, yes, I vote for Oregon!

Rachel - - - you are insane - - you will never see my shadow darken the doorway of a sauna - heck I am living in one now, why don't you come and stay in my very soothing guest bedroom and work in MY garden right now - - - 100-and-freaking-eight today, no planting allowed right now, just nursing my babies in thier pots until the right time....can't wait.....

Celia, bet your headache's getting better just from laughing at our goofiness....

I'm off to Home Depot for more paint.....

Well done, Celia--you must be feeling better? I hope :D

Morning everyone,

I'll be reading but not sure I will be adding... my head hurts so bad today... and no I didn't drink wine  It started yesturday afternoon.... I hope I don't end up puking.... I haven't had a migrane since going gluten free... don't know what caused it.... I have Rx for this but it only helps if I catch it before it starts to hurt, when I first start noticing my tunnel vision.... I've had to go to the ER before to get help... didn't want to bum out Rachelville.... miamia you can definitely be our cook!! Love to all B)

Celia, did you have something to eat that had MSG in it? That crap always gives me a migraine! But, thanks to Rachel, I know how to check labels for hidden MSG. No preventive meds have ever worked for me, because I don't have any warning signs like the zigzag, pulsating rainbow or the blind spot. Funny thing is, I've had those signs WITHOUT getting a migraine.

I haven't had to go to the hospital in years, because I found something that works!!! It's a suppository called Cafergot. It works well for me, because I would vomit up anything taken by mouth. I also have Phenergan suppositories for the nausea, but you're supposed to use one about an hour before the cafergot, and I can't wait that long. As it is, the relief from the cafergot takes an hour! :(:(:(

Cafergot is very, very strong, so I cut off only a small piece of the suppository to take, and it works great!

I hope you feel better soon! :)

Cissie

Celia,

You have to add somewhere in there about the protective guard geese that have the ability to detect auxigro and the Dingo dogs, (Annie and Tinka, I think? Susan can confirm).

Edit- Ooops, I see that's already in there, my bad!

AndreaB Contributor

No problem Julie, great minds think alike on this thread.

I sure hope Scott doesn't bump us....but I guess it doesn't matter as long as the thread isn't killed. Of course we have newscaster Celia so we can just start another thread about Rachelville and including our progress and setbacks with getting healthy again.

Ummm, I just don't have anything to go with here, my mind is blank. Rachelville has taken over.

Okay, to get this thread back on topic...I have D today, lol.

I haven't even had a Bumble Bar in over a week! (Maybe the intervention worked after all--I have 4 or 5 in the cupboard!)

We will definitely need modern facilities in our farm!:lol:

Um...I can add that my body really didn't appreciate spending two days at Six Flags eating Six Flags foods (Remember, I'm on a challenge, only a monthish to go!).

My hips are killing me and my innards are rebelling. I'm living on Red Bull.

I definitely used up all of my Open Original Shared Link for the weekend and then some

Chelsea - thanks for sharing the spoon theory, it's spot on!

dlp252 Apprentice

Wow, I love that spoon theory! I'm sending that to my friend who has fibromyalgia really bad...I think she starts the day with less spoons than I've ever had on my worst days. I know people don't understand and that is a great way to visualize it.

penguin Community Regular

The spoon theory was linked a while back in another thread, but I don't remember which one. In the store for that site they have a whole section of "Celiac Disease sucks!" products. I want the apron :)

Open Original Shared Link

I printed the theory out for him and he seemed not to get it, but after a couple of days it's like a lightbulb turned on. He's always seen me run out of spoons, now he has a visual. Now we talk about spoons all the time :P

Did you have problems with bumble bars themselves or just wanting to eat too many....I forget.

We just got into Lara bars...need to add some more fiber...especially when my daughter is off rice for a week. She seems to be doing ok. I also wonder how corn is with her since she still has a few tummy troubles. Would a glutening last this long...it's been almost 1 1/2 weeks. :(

Donna, do you tolerate nuts? I can't remember who all could or not. What is it about nuts? I would really like to eat them.

So you have been sober (Bumble Bar sober) going on 8 days now. One day at a time Donna, one day at a time

Thanks Cissie, I'll ask the doctor about it... I have my appt. at 10 tomorrow, my 3 month check up... I'm suppose to be writing my thoughts down on what to ask her but right now just interested in Rachelville :o:ph34r::lol:

 don't tell her too much about Rachelville - she'll think you've gone mad.....

Julie - yes, cable, all the channels, yah! We can watch HGTV and food channel and then do all kinds of fun projects!

Chelsea - - loved the spoon thing - what a great site, had never seen it.

Donna - sorry about the D :( Would somebody kindly explain Bumble Bars to me?

Wonder what Scott thinks about our crazy rambling fantasty-land thread we've got going here....

Celia - how ya feeling?

As far as I know just wanting to each too much. I did get a mouth blister after eating one, but it seemed like a one time deal. I love the fiber in the Lara bars! I haven't noticed any kind of problems with them for me. I don't have a problem with wanting to eat too many either.

I seem to tolerate nuts (well mostly nut butters) well too...I practically live on nut butters. I don't eat a lot of the whole nuts though. One of my doctors (the one who wouldn't touch me when I was extremely dizzy and had extremely low blood pressure, so don't know why I'm listening to her now, lol) once told me the whole nuts are hard to digest, great for fiber, not great for those of us with intestinal problems.

Bumble Bars are a type of energy bar. They have flax seeds, and other stuff which I can't remember now...hum, wonder if I have brain fog too. My favorite is the chocolate to which I add some kind of nut butter. Yummy. I am truly addicted to them. Truly.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis after years of suffering without answers. I lost my mind. I lost my job. I lost so much time. I lost Me. Conventional doctors are opulent come near me and the one who did sat across the room, misdiagnosed me, pumped me full of steroids which collapsed my entire hip for 6 months. So without answers I began my holistic journey. Fast forward a couple of years and still struggling with a mysterious whole body itchy, crawling “skin hell”, perfect teeth now deteriorating, thick hair now thinning rapidly and no more than a day or 2 at most relief….An acquaintance opened up a functional medicine practice. Cash only, I found a way. Within a month tests clearly showing my off the charts gluten allergy/sensitivity as well as the depletion of vital nutrients due to leaky gut and intestinal damage. dermatitis herpetiformis was more than likely what I was experiencing with my skin. I was happy. I thought this is easy, eat healthy Whole Foods, follow the diet restrictions and I finally get to heal and feel confident and like myself again very soon! 😔 Supplements are very pricey but I got them and began my healing. Which leads to the other major issue: not working, stay at home Mom of young kids, entirely financially dependent on my man of 7 plus years. He’s never been supportive of anything I’ve ever done or been thru. He controls everything. I’m not given much money ever at a time and when he does leave money it’s only enough to possibly get gas. His excuse is that I’ll spend it on other things. So my “allowance” is inconsistent and has conditions. He withholds money from me as punishment for anything he wants. Since being diagnosed, he’s gained a new control tactic to use as punishment. He now is in control of when I get to eat. He asked for proof of my diagnosis and diet bc he said I made it up just to be able to eat expensive organic foods. Then after I sent him my file from my doctor he then said she wasn’t a real doctor. 😡. I go days upon days starving, sometimes breaking down and eating things I shouldn’t bc I’m so sick then I pay horribly while he gets annoyed and angry bc I’m not keeping up with all the duties I’m supposed to be doing. His abuse turns full on when I’m down and it’s in these desperate times when I need his support and care the most that I’m punished with silence, being starved, ignored, belittled. He will create more of a mess just bc I’m unable to get up and clean so that when I am better, I’m so overwhelmed with chores to catch up that the stress causes me to go right back into a flare from hell and the cycle repeats. I’m punished for being sick. I’m belittled for starving and asking for healthy clean water. I’m purposely left out of his life. He won’t even tell me he’s going to the grocery or to get dinner bc he doesn’t want me to ask him for anything. I have no one. I have nothing. Im not better. My supplements ran out and I desperately need Vitamin D3 and a methylated B complex at the very minimal just to function….he stares at me blankly…no, a slight smirk, no words. He’s happiest when im miserable and I am miserable.  this is so long and im condensing as much as I can but this situation is so complicated and disgusting. And it’s currently my life. The “IT” girl, the healthy, beautiful, perfect skin, perfect teeth, thick and curly locks for days, creative and talented IT girl….now I won’t even leave this house bc Im ashamed of what this has dont to my body, my skin. Im disgusted. The stress is keeping me from healing and I think he knows that and that’s why he continues to keep me in that state. He doesn’t want me confident or successful. He doesn’t want me healed and healthy bc then how would he put the blame of all his problems on me? This journey has been hell and I’ve been in Hell before. I’ve been killed by an ex, I’ve been raped, robbed, held hostage, abused beyond nightmares but the cruelty I’ve experienced from him bc of this disease is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I’ve wanted to give up. Starving and in tears, desperate…I found a local food pantry in our small town so I reached out just saying I had Celiac and was on hard times. This woman is blessing me daily with prepared gluten free meals, donations, educational info, people who know this disease and how they manage life and the blessings just keep coming. But it’s overwhelming and I feel like I don’t deserve it at all. He just glared and I know he’s going to sabotage it somehow. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so broken and just want peace and healing.

@Colleen H   I am just curious,  when you were tested for coeliac disease, did the doctors find out if you had any deficiencies? Sometimes muscle pain can be caused by certain deficiencies, for example, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium.   Might be worth looking into having some more tests.  Pins and needles can be neuropathy, again caused by deficiencies, such as iron and B12,  which can be reversed if these deficiencies are addressed. In the UK where I live we are usually only tested for iron, B12 and vitamin D deficiencies at diagnosis.   I was very iron anemic and supplementation made a big difference.  B12 was low normal, but in other countries the UK's low normal would be considered a deficiency.  My vitamin D was low normal, and I've been supplementing ever since (when I remember to take it!) My pins and needles definitely started to improve when my known deficiencies were addressed.  My nutritionist also gave me a broad spectrum supplement which really helped, because I suspect I wasn't just deficient in what I mention above but in many other vitamins and minerals.  But a word of warning, don't take iron unless blood tests reveal you actually need it, and if you are taking it your levels must be regularly monitored because too much can make you ill.  (And if you are currently taking iron, that might actually be making your stomach sore - it did mine, so my GP changed my iron supplementation to a gentler form, ferrous gluconate). Lastly, have you been trying to take anything to lessen the pain in your gut?  I get a sore stomach periodically, usually when I've had too much rich food, or when I have had to take an aspirin or certain antibiotics, or after glutening.  When this happens, I take for just a few days a small daily dose of OTC omeprazole.  I also follow a reflux or gastritis diet. There are lots online but the common denominators to these diets is you need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, rich, spicy, acidic food etc and eat small regularly spaced meals.   When I get a sore stomach, I also find it helpful to drink lots of water.  I also find hot water with a few slices of ginger very soothing to sip, or camomile tea.  A wedge pillow at night is good for reflux. Also,  best not to eat a meal 2-3 hours before going to bed. If the stomach pain is getting worse, though, it would be wise to see the doctor again. I hope some of this helps. Cristiana
