OMG Laura....it is always fun to have some kind of now-famous person who was stricken with us at one point...I have got a couple of those stories  only one of these guys was FORMERLY quite famous, kind of an old geezer now....some of you know....oh dear gawd.....

okay now remember girls, today, and let's not use any names here, but SOMEONE's :angry: - - -- well someone who broke my heart BADLY earlier this year - - - well his FAVORITE TEAM is playing today....and remember my joy, that they are having the WORST LOSING SEASON in their history :lol::lol::lol::lol: and it makes me extremely happy...and today, they're going to get their butts kicked by LSU......that is, if you all stick with me and keep cheering and sending your bad thoughts and prayers AGAINST the team.....:lol: because this is just a little thing that God is doing to make me, well, slightly titillated and smugly overjoyed. ;)

Rinne.....that would be great for everyone if you can get a list like that! :)

The Igenix test was bloodwork. If you dont have the results to the test see if you can get them. If a Dr. isnt too familiar with Lyme they might "miss" what could be a positive test. One of my Igenix tests was technically negative but when you really look at it and read the explanation its clear that it was very likely positive.....just didnt meet the criteria for diagnosis. My Dr. knew this though. There was another test that Igenix ran that came back positive and then the Bioset test was used to confirm the Lyme diagnosis.

You might want to get your hands on your Igenix results to be sure that nothing was missed and that the results were interpreted accurately.

Good Morning all

LauraJ thanks for the note

Judy...it just means that some of the things to identify the presence of Lyme in the test were "there" but not strong enough to make the test positive. That why it didnt meet criteria.

Its like instead of these certain areas coming back either negative or completely positive....they came back with ?'s instead. The Dr. called them weak positives because they were there afterall but just not strong enough for the lab to give an official diagnosis. Thats why the *other* tests that were done were important.

The lab had said to either redo the same test or get different tests done because even though the result for that test was negative the ?'s mean something.

As to anxiety, what I was trying to say is that the inflammation that Lyme causes in the body manifests as deep agitation and rises through the body into emotion, the emotion is intense and the intensity of it can lead to fear, the fear is natural and good, the fear is telling us, as is the pain, that our bodies are in distress, so the fear can lead to the feeling of anxiety but the origin is not anxiety it is inflammation. This is all happening beneath the radar of any conventional testing and so is misdiagnosed as an anxiety disorder. At this point it can be easy to be confused oneself because the agitation is subtle relative to the eventual crisis.

Does that make sense?

Judy, have you thought about doing the Salt/Vitamin C treatment? I cannot say enough good things about salt. It gave me my energy back, do any of you remember me a few months ago? I went for days hardly posting at all as I recall, I was feeling listless and hopeless as I had begun to see that despite the diet and the acupuncture I was losing ground. Or am I have completely forgotten a conversation we've already had about it? I cannot go back.

And where has Robbin been? I miss seeing her here. :(

And someone, please excuse my forgetfullness said something kind about my writing. Thank you but really I am only as good as my audience,:lol::ph34r: truly how could I speak to any of this without each one you?

House is nearly tidy, came home yesterday and found a beautiful bouquet of orchids from friends who aren't able to come, and I'm starting to get excited. Party tonight, you are all invited. :)

You're welcome!

Good morning Donna and Rinne!

Thought I'd be the only one not sleeping in on a Sat. morning. :P

I usually try to sleep in until at least 5:00 a.m., lol, but this morning just quit fighting and got up at 4:00!

Me too Patti.....only the organic stuff from Whole Foods....its really expensive though considering I'm eating a pound a day. I'm eating $7 worth of beef everyday. I dont even wanna know how much that will add up to in a month....or a year even. :o

OMGosh! I spent more than $40 on ribeye steak (LOVE it, lol) and about $20 on ground beef this morning, lol.:ph34r:

I have swollen glands too....its chronic...been there the whole 4 years almost. Its mainly in my neck and head but also under my arms. The Bioset lady said that my lymphatic system is very affected by this. I asked her about TMJ and if it can be caused by Lyme. She said the lymphatic system is what the Lyme is getting into and so it ends up creating lots of problems with drainage and the joints and everything thats in that area where I have swelling and pain. She said it can get a whole lot worse if it doesnt get treated....there can be blockages and drainage problems and the Lyme can really get into the brain and stuff like that.

The lymph glands in my neck are always swollen. My old chiropractor used to tell me that on every visit. I haven't seen her for a year now, so not really sure if they still are...I DO think the ENT at Camino Medical said they were too....saw her much more recently. I'll ask the HN doctors too.

okay now remember girls, today, and let's not use any names here, but SOMEONE's :angry: - - -- well someone who broke my heart BADLY earlier this year - - - well his FAVORITE TEAM is playing today....and remember my joy, that they are having the WORST LOSING SEASON in their history :lol::lol::lol::lol: and it makes me extremely happy...and today, they're going to get their butts kicked by LSU......that is, if you all stick with me and keep cheering and sending your bad thoughts and prayers AGAINST the team.....:lol: because this is just a little thing that God is doing to make me, well, slightly titillated and smugly overjoyed. ;)

No R words here! Prayer said.:lol::lol:

Hi all, sorry for the speeding drive-by, but I have to run out now and get my 1 hour deep tissue massage, lol.

OMG Rinne - you have just described my entire life, and this is so well-put, makes so much sense. The fight or flight mechanism always kicked into high gear.....I know I don't have Lyme (no typical physical symptoms), but could it have been gluten-intolerance causing this anxiety and inner unrest (family dysfunction aside) my whole life, since childhood? Because only since removing gluten have I felt any prolonged sense of calm/mental well-being (not mania), and true clear-headedness.....

Robbin is over on DailyStrength.com - - - I have just joined. It is a charming and healing site...come on over, everybody :)

Heading up to Manitoba now. Figuring out how to smuggle the dingos on the plane.

My thoughts too, Susan. I used to have a constant struggle going on inside my head--thought it was normal  I thought a lot of things I was feeling--both physically and emotionaly--were because I was sensitive, and it was my own fault, somehow.

I couldn't see what was real in regard to these things until I was gluten-free. I see things so much clearer, and that is good, but also opens me up to hurt over how I had to cover and pretend everything was fine so as not to rock the boat or be a bother. Needless to say, there was not a lot of real communication going on when I was growing up. I'm just recently dealing with family members from a much more honest (on my part, anyway) place.

yup......I think it's remarkable that you all eat SO much beef - I always thought it was recommended to eat it no more than 2 or 3 times a month? which is how often I eat it, pretty much, but it evidently is agreeing with all of you, so I am going to eat more! (am thawing lamb chops as we speak) :D

And you are beautiful in your photo, I'm sure you need only flirt just a tiny bit and the dingos will be in first class with you. :)

Gluten causes inflammation and I am thinking all the while starving the body of nutrients, the lack of nutrients leads to the adrenal system being depressed and a lack of true rest, without rest we turn to those very things which inflame us because the initial inflammation is felt as agitation and we interpret that as energy. What do you think?

This just about broke my heart :( Why, if there so many of "us", dosen't someone actually specialize in these types of problems. It seems like we have to hunt for and track down people to listen. I'm so glad and happy that some of us are on the right track, but why is it that others of us still can't even figure out what to eat? Sorry for the negativity, but sometimes it just gets to me.

It gets me frustrated and angry too Patti :(

I don't understand why the health profession ignores or denies the types of health issues we are all dealing with here. I have seen it even in the alternative world, which is even more depresing.....I told one acupuncturist I don't have much to choose from to eat and his reply was to eat more frequently throughout the day, 6 mini meals.......What? I don't even have enought to make up 3 meals how could I make up 6????

There is a lot to be learned and discovered. It seems like they only respond to things they have seen before, or know about, anything outside of that they tend to chalk it up to psychological problems <_<

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon :) Hope all that need resting are getting lots of it, taking good care of themselves and I hope all that are out enjoying the day are having lots of fun :D

I am having an angioedema reaction and I have a big one on my hand so might not be around because its hard to type :(

Julie, I'm sorry to hear that, take care of yourself.

Patti, I have felt much the same way you do. I see those who are genuinely acting out of compassion limited by their views and as a result to those who are most vulnerable. I think we have to take radical responsibility for our health if we want to restore it.

wish someone was here :( ....am utterly miserable, it's too late to call any of my peeps and whine....need someone in another time zone to call (like Hawaii, I think they're 5 hours behind us)....am in pain, doubled over, bomb in stomach....is this from my binge? body aches and I feel like utter, abject crap. am so agitated.....massive headache.....cannot even get comfy in my bed, pulled neck muscle in a very bizarre place - monstrous pain.

I almost called my mom at 9-ish, just to cry and complain - - but she would freak out....um, because it has to be life-threatening for me to call her with physical pain.....(in 2001 drove my own self, doubled over and vomiting, to ER in Monterey....appendix removed 8 hours later...didn't call ANYONE until they'd finished ultrasound and were about to wheel me in...didn't want to be a WUSSY  - - would have been FURIOUS and chagrined if it was flu or something stupid like that....did I mention, had been in so much pain the entire night, jacknife position in bed, softly weeping, calmly arose at 8, and thought to self, this amount of pain, I believe, will require a trip to the ER. So, took my shower (doubled over), shaved legs, light makeup...and went, fresh and clean, crying from pain, to hospital ;) ) I was so excited, it was my first trip to hospital and only surgery - lots of good drugs and SO much fun.....(I am a major weirdo).....and there were complications and too much blood loss and blood pressure WAY too low, so I got to stay two nights. ;)

okay. that's it. back to bed to feel sorry for self and hug tummy. have I just done so much damage to myself, from my two binges? my god, how long will this take to reverse and why did it take so long to hit? I know...questions we don't really have the answers to.....

*sniff* it's lonely late at night when your tummy hurts.

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.
    • knitty kitty
Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/
    • trents
Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
