One more good laugh for you, Susan:

Rachelville (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Rachelville courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the BULLDOGS, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Hi everyone. :)

BIG HUGS for Andrea and Susan.

There's a hugfest going on tonight. :wub::wub:

I went to the Bioset laday but I think I'll save my scientificness for tomorrow....I need food and then sleep.

OMG....I can just see all of us at Susan's house....half of us crying, Rinne ironing pillow cases, Andrea doing plenty of mothering, lots of laughs...it would be such fun.

By the way....nobody wants to be a guest at my house....there is NOTHING ironed.....and any bedside flowers would likely be fake cuz I'm just not quite as domestic as some of you.

Rinne...I watch my mom ironing every single night....I dont get it...to this day I dont understand why people iron??

I must be missing something because I just dont equate ironing with pleasure.

Where is Miss HappyGirl??

Gotta go make some burgers......

Now I am beginning to imagine a comedy routine about all the different snake oil sales people and their strategies for convincing someone who is ill that their product is the one.

I'm thinking another Rachelville Law may be coming soon.....

By all means go get something to eat. Hubby got home in time to cook for me tonight.

t it is a tranquil haven here, I am drowning a bit in a sea of turquoise silk and linen (the house is more formal than I, that's for sure!), but fresh flowers (from the garden), and even if no flowers are in my yard, bouquets of green......many candles, sandalwood and balsam fir incense (to remind me of the mountains!), and small touches, it makes the difference.

That sounds lovely (sigh),,,my house is a sea of play-doh, broken crayons, capless markers, and dozens of pictures of princesses and rainbows (form the 5-year-old), dragons and monsters (the 8-year-old), crayoned football posters (the 11-year-old), fingerprints on walls and noseprints on windows (all of them), various stains on the family room carpet (juice, chocolate milk, spaghetti sauce, pee, and barf (2 legged and 4-legged versions), and cardboard shreds (one of the cats has a strange habit of biting and spitting out bits of cardboard or paper from anything he can find, including one of my Harry Potter books  ).

The up-side is lots of love and snuggles, especially at bedtime, when we read Harry Potter books out loud in bed. We're almost done with book 5--very exciting. The 8-year-old nearly cried tonight when I stopped at the end of the chapter.

Thanks again everyone for creating such a place for support while we all try to get through our "stuff". It's a comfort to come here and get info, share info, ask questions, get and give hugs, and laugh all along the way.

Wub to everyone!!!!

Julie, you say it well. :) How are you?

DingoWorld is adjacent to Rachelville, and there are Rinne-land Hotels (or hostels?) sprinkled throughout both places, all with ironed pillowcases. :)

ROTFLMAO Alison, wickedly funny.

And Susan I do feel we are kindred, all of us here are somehow weaving together something very beautiful and very ordinary, in another time we might be quilting together or sorority sisters and though this is different it is no less substantial in our lives. That is what is remarkable to me, I do feel better just knowing that Rachelville is here.

And speaking of sorority sisters I am reminded of Laura, I wonder how she is doing.

Carla, for me it is a feeling of waking up inside my body and knowing that only I can take charge of my own healing.

Total Parachute post here :o (i tried to read about every 3rd page (from 560 something :o ) to catch up, but man - you ladies have been chatty! :o )

I've missed this comfortable spot the last 4 days. The outside world is a scary place :o

Andrea - I'm sorry to read about your dad. I hope the time you spend with him gives both of you (and family) some comfort. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs and prayers, rememberances and recollections, more hugs, long forgotten stories shared anew and family will all help you and your family pull through.

In April it will be 3 years since my wife lost her brother at 35 to a drunk driver. He left behind a wife and 2 y.o. son. The other guy walked away and is now in prison for 5yrs max...The whole family is scarred but their faith has pulled them through. The one thing that still pains Mary the most is the fact that she never got to say goodbye to her big brother. Make the most of the time you have with your father. We'll all be thinking about you.

I wish I could better express myself at this late hour (for me anyway) but I'm still recuperating from 4 days of funnel-fed "learning".

Must go find my mojo. :(

We missed you parachuting in too. :P

Thanks for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.

To be robbed of someone without the chance to say goodby would be hard indeed. My husband lost a co-worker in a hit and run earlier this year (he was 35). He left behind a daughter (I think she's around 9) and a son who was about 2-3. It's hard on the spouses, must be terribly hard on children.

This is perfect.....how fantastic would that be? except...it's a tiny house, about 1100 sq. feet.....two BR/two bath.....kind of crowded, but how much fun?

Allison - - - AND BTW I SENT THAT JOKE TO ALL MY FRIENDS TWO DAYS AGO :lol::lol: It sounds really wonderful, actually. If it makes you feel any better, the carpets - dang, they were shampooed two months ago and they are filthy already - dang dingos and the mud tracking. My bedroom is constant squalor, clothes bombs and piles that I don't know what to do with, that get slightly reduced and then moved around....the hallway's half painted......kitchen floor hasn't been mopped in....months? I need some house guests, for a deep-cleaning to occur. Not as serene and organized as one might think....and, too quiet. :( It's just the dogs and me, please pray, all of us, that I don't die alone, a crazy old dog lady.........

Hear, hear, very well said. A comforting place to vent and get info and laughs and support. Just wish we all lived closer.

Where's Patti? And Laura...our dear girl must not be feeling so well. And Evie.....I pray she is well....

Do you think Meredith got eaten by the wild dingos on that island?

the lady called, and I had to tell her about her dead cat. Called twice, to find out where the body was. she wasn't even crying. I will need 24-hour care from many humans if something happens to a dingo.

Are you kidding? If you have dogs, you aren't alone!

Dogs are people, too, ya know! So are cats--whe I got my first apartment, I got a cat BEFORE I bought any furniture!

Most of the dogs and cats I know are much better company than some of the humans I know....

But I know what you mean--don't worry, okay?

Alison,

Your whole post sounds pretty lovely to me. Maybe someday I will be so blessed. :)

If you want to be, than you will find a way. I met my husband right after I gave up on Mr. Right even existing--I had just bought a house two weeks before we met and was planning on applying to adopt from China or Korea.

Things have a way of working out...

Why is my mind just never satisfied or convinced of anything???

Now I am wondering if I truelly have Lyme Disease....will need more proof to convince myself. I think my mind plays evil tricks on me. <_<

Well I'm glad I just took this other test so maybe THAT will convince me....I'm wondering what it will take. Maybe I actually need to see one of the spirochete thingys right before my eyes.

I think the problem is that my DR. has not come out and said "You have Lyme Disease"...not even when I've asked him. <_<

I told the Bioset lady tonight that he hasnt formally diagnosed me or anything and how can I be totally sure if I have Lyme if he didnt tell me?? She said I have definately been exposed to it but a Dr. will need to SEE a positive test result in order to start treatment. I told her I had a positive Igenix test.

She said that with that....the Dr. has the green light to treat me for Lyme Disease but is just waiting for the next test results. I'm assuming he wouldnt have me taking this highly expensive full panel Igenix co-infection test if he wasnt pretty convinced of Lyme Disease.

It just bugs me because my mind messes with me and then I'm thinking "How could I have Lyme Disease??"

I told the lady that I feel pretty good...except for the fact that I can only eat 5 foods and react to everything I breathe in....other than that I think I'd be pretty normal. :)

I told her I dont feel crippled by Lyme or anything...could all my problems be from the chemical stuff and not so much the Lyme??

Like maybe the Lyme hasnt taken over my body or anything....maybe my immune system is still holding it back?? She said if this were the case the prognosis would be very good for me. :)

It is possible that the Lyme isnt out of control. I'm thinking its a good sign that my test came back positive after 4 years....I'm thinking it means my immune system is still fighting. :)

She said with any virus or bad bacteria the immune system would be busy fighting....she used Herpes as an example...the immune system would be constantly attacking it. She said Lyme is worse but its the same thing....the immune system is constanty attacking it....never resting....this gives other problems the opportunity to arise. So maybe *other* problems came into play because of my immune system being taxed by the Lyme?? We wont know until we really get into the treatment and such....she said my liver is whats really causing me alot of problems. Its getting in the way of everything.....as far as her treatments go...her computer is always making "bad" noises when shes checking things having to do with my liver.

She said the liver is an amazing organ....very very busy....she said it does over 40,000 metabolic things.....and mine is just too overwhelmed right now to get the job done. My liver needs lots of help. :(

I'll tell about my treatment session tomorrow....I also remembered to ask about MSG tonite. ;)

whe I got my first apartment, I got a cat BEFORE I bought any furniture!

:lol::lol:

I love animals too...

I always saw myself working with animals somehow. When my house was getting built I got a second job to save more money for moving in. I worked at PetsMart. :D

I think every penny I made I gave right back to them.

I bought my bird while I was working there....employee discount. :D

Around that time I had 2 dogs, a cat, 3 ferrets, 2 rabbits, an iguana, a bearded dragon and then I got my bird. :)

I will never get alot of pets again because its too hard when they die...now its like pet cemetary in my backyard. :(

I had all these pets for the better part of the last 10 years (except the rabbits which have short life spans) and now I just have the dogs, cat and bird...but one of the dogs moved in with my ex cuz of me being too sick to take care of them all. :(

I dont want anymore pets....when I lose my dog I will be DEVASTATED...I dont know how I will deal. I've had him since he was 8 weeks old....now he is 13. He is so loving and loyal....a total mommas boy. I will never want another dog....he is my one and only dog. We were meant for each other I think. :)

BAH, PSHAW and HARUMPH indeed on these miscreants!

Miscreants??? I swear I learn a new word everyday just from reading Susan's posts!

Susan, I think you should go back to the pub....be totally non-chalant about the whole thing. Talk to the guy...talk to *other* guys...have a GOOD TIME. Dont even ask him why he didnt call...you never even noticed....forgot all about it. What cabin in the mountain?? ;)

Then he is a total slimebooger and should be flushed down the toilet, too.

:lol::lol:

Slimebooger. :D

Rinne- You can't be SERIOUS about getting better. I just don't see your dedication. :P

Yeah Rinne!!

Show us you mean business why dont you. :P

Bev...that is a sweet and funny story about your mom.

Oh, and don't take your computer in there ... it's too hot and you can tell us all about it later!!!

NOOO....definately dont bring the computer into the sauna. :o

I would bring in my iPod and I was always worried that it would explode or melt or something tragic would happen.....but it never did. :)

Rachel, at the lady trying to sell you the grape drink that will cure all! Shoot, if you could even tolerate grapes you wouldn't waste your time drinking them  .

:lol::lol:

Shoot if I could tolerate WINE I'd be out having FUN. :P

I dont know what this lady was thinking....

off to bed to watch Gray's. oh my life is SO exciting.

But guess what, you know my GI, whom I love? Well no of course you don't know him  but, I told him that he could refer any bewildered new Celiacs to me, and the second one called today. No...my Bear dog is far away from me. He's at home in Manteca. :(

My moms condo is a no-pet zone. :(

This is one of the worst things about all this stupid illness...I cant see my dog everyday. When I was off work for those 2 years...I was there with him everyday. When I started getting better we spent the whole summer working in the yard together. He was by my side every minute...it was one of the most perfect summers...even though I was sick. Now everything sucks because I'm away from my home, my dog, my normal life. :(

My neighbors are nice....take out my trash, take care of Bear and watch over my house. I know my dog misses me though...he's a momma's boy...he needs me. I'll put a pic up on the weekend.

I haven't made it to the dingo island yet. I don't know what's going on but I will catch up one day...or maybe someone will have to provide me with some Rachelville cliffs notes  I really should read more posts before I type anything else. Briefly, Lyme is the hot topic, Rachel and I have both been diagnosed with it, Carla and Beverly are being tested for it and there might be others. Is my Lyme brain working? Donna?

I saw the Four Agreements posted on a friends fridge, is anyone familiar with them?

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I was thinking about the second one and how difficult that it that can be when it comes to men. <_< Susan. The realization that came to me some years ago was that no matter what I did some people would never like me and that no matter what I did some people would adore me and that it really was out of my control. I understood then that the only thing I could control was whether or not I liked me. :) It is an ongoing project.

Rachel, like Susan said, snap out of it. You do have lyme and the bioset lady is getting you ready for treatment.

Rachel, I have read that for some people even 1 drop of Samento a day is too much and that they start them on only 1/4 drop a day, it seems there are others like you who must be very gentle in their approach.

I'm excited about my sauna experience this morning. I feel like the connection is fortuitous, (i.e. yoga class cancelled and massage therapist telling me about infrared sauna) it seems that the more I trust the falling into pillows, the more pillows that appear and the softer they are. :)

And happy me I just figured out how to say  you all.

Exactly! :P

and I iron pillow cases too

No wonder no one wants to stay at my house!:lol:

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.
    • knitty kitty
Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."

Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
