I'm certainly not complaining--I had a breath test for H-Pilori last month that was negative. I still wonder if this could have something to do with a bacterial overgrowth. I mentioned it to my GI at the last visit, and he did the H-P test only.

I see him again in October, but do you guys think I'm on the right track here--that there's a bacterial thing happening? Do you think this wonderfulness is going to last?

Hmmmm... I dunno.

I tend to think that most of us who are dealing with the intestinal issues have dysbiosis to some extent. Bacteria overgrowth, yeast...stuff like that contributing to the food intolerance and digestive problems.

I tested negative in a few tests for H.Pylori....including bipsies when I had my endoscopy. I did test positive for C Diff overgrowth and earlier this year I tested positive for yeast, bacteria and food proteins all contributing to leaky gut and poor intestinal function.

I recently repeated that test and keep forgetting to call for the results.

I never tested positive for any of this stuff when I was at Kaiser...but obviously I do have gut issues.

Are you still taking the abx? I do think its likely there is some dysbiosis. I dont know if the wonderfulness will last but I'll definately keep my fingers crossed for you! :)

The balance of good flora is critical for intestinal health...so I think that those of us having problems in that area most likely have upset that balance and are dealing with overgrowths. :(

Hi Everyone, Just a quick drive by for me...

One question for the BioSET people: after we're treated we lay in a darkened room with the glass on our stomach (it has to touch bare skin). I've never noticed this before, but the last three treatments (for lyme) have all been the same. As the glass is on my tummy, after about 5 minutes or so, the area directly under the glass starts gurgling and actually feels like it's bubbling...I can almost feel it bumping the glass, lol. I don't think this has happened in all the other times I've had the treatments, but for each of the three lyme panels so far this has happened. It is just a coincidence? Has anyone else had that happen? I'm going to ask Anna if I can possibly remember by then, but just wondered if anyone has had that happen.

Sorry Donna, I can't help you. Dr. F my acupuncturist does BioSET a different way.

So I told the girl that I'm up to 9000 mg. of Vit C and still no loose stools...in fact I was getting more consitpated.

I was also up to 3000 mg. of magnesium.

  Wow, that's ALOT of magnesium!! The most I can tolerate a day is about 1000mg before getting D.

Before we started she was massaging my intestines cuz of the constipation issue. She said she could feel that I was bloated and she was moving stuff around and somehow knowing what was what.

I still have no idea about anatomy.

She was telling me I could do this myself and kind of get things moving so that I might stimulate bowel movements. She was saying something about neurotransmitters and the brain not sending the message to the bowels and stuff just sits there because my body sort of "forgets" what its suppossed to do.

My massage therapist taught me an easy way to remember how to massage your intestines to help you pooh. She teaches mothers to do it on their babies. It's called I Love U. First, you start on your right side of your lower abdomen near your groin. Stroke up for the "I". Then, start in the same place, and make an upside down "L" going up your right side of your abdomen, then across just below your ribs. Next, start again in the same place on the lower right, go up, then across to the left, then down the left side for an upside down "U". You've finished the I Love U! The "I" is the ascending colon, "L" covers the Transverse colon", and the "U" picks up your Descending colon. It's much easier to show you, but I can't really do that here, eh :P ! Hope this helps you to remember it.

Back to packing  .

Ahhh....that must be what she was doing! She seemed to be following a pattern. She said she'd done it on her kids before and it helped them.

She was telling me she was following the shape of my intestines. She started on the lower right side...just like you described...and then continued from there. She didnt mention the "I Love U" part though.

Donna...I've had rumbling in my tummy when I've been in the treatment room before. It was mainly when I was getting treatments for fungal stuff though.

I didnt always have my glass directly on my skin though. It was only Susan that wanted it on my skin.

It doesnt have to be touching your stomach but it does have to be touching your skin at all times. The main reason Susan has us put it directly on our skin is in case we fall asleep for a second and dont have our hands firmly on the glass...that way its still touching our skin.

I've never fallen asleep during a treatment but apparantly other people have and they've let go of the glass and then had to repeat the treatment.

Hi Judy :D When is your appt. again?

I'm not currently on the abx, but I have a Rx for more, as my eustation tube is completely blocked and she thinks there may still be an infection behind my eardrum. I keep debating taking more--the doctor kind of left it up to me.

Tom, I didn't mean that it would fix the problem, but I've seen it mentioned on here that it helps some with glutenings. It's also good for helping to digest casein. I know it doesn't "fix" celiac! If only it were so easy, right?

Yikes! I sure didn't word my post the way I'd wanted!

I've seen mention of it here, but ppl say they *think* it "helps", while never actually having any idea whatsoever whether they needed any "help". (Possible cc is scenario)

I read a post once where someone had definately been glutened and was feeling very bad. She felt better after the Glutenease.

Don't know how you meant to word it. :) But that's okay.

Cool! That's the 1st time I've heard something specific. :)

I might have to look closer at that.

Argh! I'm so behind! And don't want to catch up piecemeal; rather get all the post-LED appt news at once. :)

Claire must be in transit by now. Wish I didn't have to wait until Fri for SJ!! :D

Donna,

I've been wondering whether that bubbling has anything in common w/ the freaky wavy part-spirally perception I'd get in the gut during acupuncture, but mine (chi-related it seems) could never be described as bubbly.

Dear Andrea,

Thank you for the Rinne update! :) I was worried. We had not heard from her in so long. I hope her business venture is taking off. Maybe she will get time to post again soon! If you hear from her again, tell her I send my love, too!

I think an extraction would be smarter for my situation as well. The possibility of having Lyme certainly makes the risk great. My immune system probably already struggles. Obviously, I would not be sick if things were normal. I need to make an appointment with my doctor. She needs to get her butt in gear and check out the IgeniX lab so we can get the testing done.

Dear tom,

Friday will be here before you know it! Do not wish time away! It goes much too quickly as it is. The Jazz Fest will be great. They seem to have quite the variety there. Thanks for the links.

I have a bad feeling that Glutenease would not do much for me. Still, if I could afford it, taking it as a precaution due to sharing a kitchen would be helpful. At least then I would not maybe get violently ill. Sorry to hear about your terrible coffee experience. I only drink what I get at home. I do not chance getting anything from anywhere.

All of those rocks would be hard on the feet! Beaches are so nice. I want to sit out on one. Maybe when I get well, which will hopefully be soon, I will get to go to L.A. like I have always wanted.

We have a beach here, but the heat has been stifling, and the pollution is terrible. Maybe Hawaii would be less toxic to visit. My cousin and her family live there.

Dear Donna,

What wonderful news that your solo went well! ;) We knew you could do it! The stomach discomfort is difficult to deal with, especially in cases like that. Is your throat doing any better? There are times I cannot hit notes because I run out of air or my voice is just not with it that day. Days like that can be so frustrating!

Hopefully, the D will improve. Do you think it is supplement related? I think I have a bacterial dysbiosis issue. The yeast makes that easy to occur. I know I do not have H. Pylori.

Dear Claire,

The retreat will be fantastic, I am sure! I hope you get time to check in some. Getting away from electronics is good for you, though. All of the phones ringing, faxes going off, e-mails, and everything else can easily stress someone out. You need a repreive occaisionally.

Dear Rachel,

Your LED appointment sounds like it went very well! :) The detox period probably did make you feel pretty rough. I am glad you felt better after resting. They sure covered a lot. I found it fascinating about the autistic children knowing where to have the laser blast away toxins.

The information on lymph drainage and detox was great! I am going to keep all of this in mind. You never know when you will need something! I think I will start rebounding some this week. Every little bit should help. I also bookmarked the chi machine site.

I agree that many of us probably have bacterial dysbiosis issues. I know I probably do. Anytime yeast is present in the intestines to the point it is excessive, bacteria can freely reproduce. I take probiotics and prebiotics. However, that is not always enough. Sometimes other underlying problems make it impossible to get rid of the bad stuff without eliminating other root causes first.

Dear Carla,

I would willingly try Glutenease. If it could help my reaction be decreased at all, it would be worth it. The violent response my system has from gluten is unbearable. If there is any way I could get a hold of some, I would do so. I know it cannot prevent damage to my intestines, but at least it would maybe prevent me from being completely debilitated by a reaction. Sharing a kitchen is so dangerous.

I looked Astragalus up. I was surprised to find out it is a legume! :o How odd is that? You just never know what things are in what food family. Take for instance, mangoes and cashews are in the same biological classification. As Nikki would say "Well, blow me!"

Dear Judy,

I hope you get through to your G.I. doctor at your next visit. They really need to prioritize. Some of these doctors think you can just wait on them while they take their sweet time. Most could not care less that you could have a deadly disease. It is impossible not to get annoyed when you suffer on a daily basis.

The D could be a bacterial problem. A lot of different kinds of bacteria cause it. Everything from C. Diff to E. Coli can do it to you. Carla had the same situation. The Lyme likely increases the risk of having other problematic bacterias in your system. It weakens your immunity, and the other bacteria cannot be repelled like they normally would be.

Dear Patti,

I have been making an effort not to overdo using the computer. There are times I am on here practically all day. That is not good for anyone. Your eyes are strained more, and you are not moving around much. Then there are the EMFs.

You are right. We are relieved Dad found a new job so quickly. Even better is, this company has good insurance for them, as well as a salary that is $14,000 more annually. The other day, they had FedEx deliver a new computer, printer/fax/copier/scanner, and a bunch of office supplies. He also has two laptops.

He used to have to beg the other company for toilet paper for the office! It was pretty absurd. Right now, he has to work out of the house. They do not have an office here. He has not been able to find an acceptable place yet. You see, the company he works for is just now expanding to this area.

I am glad to hear the Zithromax seemed to help the D. Maybe you had some bad bugs in your colon. It might have killed them off. Sometimes there are too many nasty buggers floating around. Then, after you take some meds, you end up repairing the damage.

Sincerely,

Jin

Patti - not sure about the bacterial thing, but it kind of sounds like it!

I didnt always have my glass directly on my skin though. It was only Susan that wanted it on my skin.

Yeah, I've never fallen asleep either. My plan is to put it (the glass) in a different location next time. It's odd that it's directly under the glass and no where else...and limited to just that little area the size of the glass.

Susan and Denise are apparently NOT testing right now...not sure why...should have asked. Anna is the only one testing this month and she was training two new people on Saturday...one of which I recognized as a patient. She was one of the girls I met in the waiting room a few months ago while waiting for my ART session. :P

already did the 'big lyme' discussion.

Did she even test you for it though?

Well, I'm not sure it's exactly bubbly, but it is...it's definitely unrest that's for sure and it feels like it's thumping the glass, lol, so bubbly is what came to mind. Could be wavy...

Hopefully, the D will improve. Do you think it is supplement related? I think I have a bacterial dysbiosis issue. The yeast makes that easy to occur. I know I do not have H. Pylori.

I'd bet money I have bacterial dybiosis, lol. I don't know what it is...it seems more than supplement related, but the supplements could be making it worse. I'm also getting pain in my stomach...I'm hoping H.Pylori isn't back. :( I really don't want to do another stool test, but I'm afraid that's what they'll have me do if this doesn't clear up soon. :(

Hi all

Jin - it's great to hear that new dad's new job is going so much better. :)

I've got a couple of questions for those who are better with the scientificness than me ;)

I'm starting to take vitamins (making sure they're free of everything except the vitamin lol) and so I had a multi-B tab with my lunch. Within 3/4 hour I went for a pee and it was yellow, as in the yellow of excreting B vits. How come it went through my system that quick? Is that normal or does it show that I'm just not absorbing the vitamins at all? What are the reasons for not absorbing vitamins? I'm thinking the whole leaky gut thing, but is that only caused by candida?

Thanks for listening!

Patti and Donna, I hope you're both feeling loads better really soon. Donna, well done with going ahead with the solo B)

Chalk up another one for our wise-beyond-her-years columnist Jin. :)

. . . Sorry to hear about your terrible coffee experience. I only drink what I get at home. I do not chance getting anything from anywhere.

Coffee's usually so easy. It's either plain or it's not.

Don't forget I'm the guy who hasn't been to a restaurant of any sort in 2-3yrs except once when stuck in Santa Cruz. That time I had a 1 ingred entree and had the waiter go talk to the chef TWICE to make sure it'd work. (Awesome salmon!!)

All of those rocks would be hard on the feet! Beaches are so nice. I want to sit out on one. Maybe when I get well, which will hopefully be soon, I will get to go to L.A. like I have always wanted.

Bah La-La land, go to Santa Cruz or Capitola!! :) Well . . . . . I do have to credit the southland for having warm water tho. North of Point Conception, by Santa Barbara, where CA sorta has a corner, the water's current is from Alaska. South of there the current is up from the tropics.

Dear Rachel,

. . . . I found it fascinating about the autistic children knowing where to have the laser blast away toxins.

Thanks for the well wishes! Yep, I think it COULD happen that fast. I'm judging that by me, but then again, I'm not absorbing vitamins well either, so, okay, maybe I don't know the answer afer all. :P Come to think of it, now that I've been on my vitamins for awhile, it's not as yellow. I'm taking mostly liquid forms of stuff and they're having me take double the doses on a couple of them like the multi and the Bs, so maybe my body has finally started absorbing stuff.

Having said all that, I always thought it was normal to be really yellow, lol.

Could Susan and Denise be on vacation? That's nice that she takes patients to train to do that who are interested. :)

That was my first thought, and then I had "flashbacks" to my own work situation where they would never allow two of us to go at the same time if at all possible. Course, they couldn't do anything about it if someone were on vacation and the other one sick or on leave. :P

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
