Not enough to see a dr, mind you - just enough to give me a hard time everytime they caught me at it. It wasn't "normal" and therefore unacceptable (the appearance of normality, happiness, and lack of dissention was very important. Can you tell I'm just a little bitter?). It was the same way with the OCD.

Saw the new holistic doc yesterday. A rather rushed, but productive appointment... I think.

Nyxie, your appointment sounds really productive, and hopefully the further testing will shed more light. Your description of childhood experiences sure are suspicious for something going on with mercury, celiac, or whatever. Your family system response isn't too unusual, but sad. Part of the journey of getting well will involve processing all of that well and being able to let it go. Much much easier said than done, but important. Rachel's posted before about Dr. Klinghardt's perspective that shows we can hang on to mercury just because of some of this stuff being unresolved.

Also, I have had improvement over the 7 years, actually lots of improvement on antibiotics. The problem is, I haven't successfully gotten off the antibiotics, and even at my best times where I function at 90% or so, I still then have dips with symptoms. Celiac (probable) was just discovered this year, and being GFCFSF has helped but am still fighting the lyme. Also haven't moved the mercury out well despite chelating.

I had the Doctor's Data testing done .... but I think that was the urine test .... seems like someone else did the stool test (Genova?) ... anyway, sounds like you're on the right track.

I'm sure pretty much everyone with Lyme has adrenal fatigue on some level .... my adrenals test okay though.

I was on adrenal support for awhile but it caused insomnia so I stopped.

I thought this was interesting from the link I posted:

"There is no reference to Lyme disease in the Chinese literature and there may be none for some time, as most of China's forests have been eliminated. There are other spirochetal infections that have been addressed by Chinese physicians and by Chinese researchers conducting clinical trials or laboratory tests of infection-inhibiting properties. The relevant organism most often studied in China is Leptospira, which causes the disease called leptospirosis."

I'm also dealing with very elevated liver enzymes. I'm not on any meds however, but most (if not all) do contribute to liver toxicity. My practitioner has me on high doses of omegas (I am taking these in the form of cod liver oil) and vitamin D. Not only does this assist with the liver but it also strengthens both sides of the immune system, TH1 and TH2.

Also Andrea had reminded me about B12, I did a little research and B12 actually regenerates liver cells.

Ok, funny question of the day........How many are taking HCL, or have had it suggested as a supplement to take in their protocols??

Hi, Julie. Yes I read this about the leptospirosis. However, I do think that lyme is endemic to China though it may not be recognized. I think Dr. Zhang's literature talks about that. Also, even though the doctors here don't know about it (actually many are not well trained), I have a newspaper clipping from a Chinese newspaper that warns that lyme is common in the province where I live, and warning people to be careful if going out to the mountains and forests especially in the spring and summer months.

Ok so I found my Schisandra compound, out of curiosity to compare, these are the traditional Chinese herbs in mine:

Fructus Schisandrae

Radix Bupluri

Radix Salviae

Radix Paeoniae

Radix Glycyrrhizae

Radix Angelicae

I don't know what these translate to, but this compound was given to me for liver support.

Donna, I'm glad the D is gone.

The senna in the humaworm is for sure a laxative.

That's really a good idea for me to check out, Julie. Liver problems are especially common in Chinese people, so finding a liver support shouldn't be too hard. I'll check it out.

Kassandra, I am definitely bringing the zith with me from here. My insurance pays 80% of what I pay, so that makes it quite doable for me.

At that price, you could afford to come and visit me and buy some here if you are on it very long! LOL!!!

I was socially withdrawn and prone to temper tantrums. Still socially withdrawn, but at least the temper tantrums have passed. The family joke is that I didn't outgrow my terrible twos until I turned 26..... I didn't do the rocking thing or headbanging tho. I'd "veg". My mind would just go blank and I'd stare out into space.

My older two are still prone to temper tantrums. My daughter loves to talk. My oldest son is quieter. My daughter does stare out into space alot. Hmmmmm, I wonder.......

My mom started taking the Olive Leaf Extract, and she already feels it. She only took one last night...he has me taking 2, 2x a day!! LOL! She will take Humaworm if Dr. H decides I should take it...even if he doesn't want me to take it now, she will still order it. She is coming around definitely...and I think any parent would after a 3 hours hour appt.! LOL!

Now if she'll go gluten and casein free while she's going through treatment with you she'll be in a much better position.

I'll be curious as to what your doctor says about the humaworm.

OMGOSH!!!! They just called me to see if I wanted to see Dr. Amy while she's here. Apparently she had a cancellation and they called me. Guess what?! I had to TURN IT DOWN. Can you believe it?!? The opening was for Tuesday at 3:00 and unfortunately I have a rehearsal at 7:15 and since our performance is the next day, I can't really miss it. I'd be too worried about making the rehearsal to relax, so I told her to give it to someone else. I CAN NOT FREAKING BELIEVE IT, lol.

NOOOOO!!!!!! I can't believe it! :o:huh:

Kassandra,

I just sent you a PM with my email. :)

Julie,

Wow, that's a scary flare-up. :( I'm so glad it's disappeared for now. :) That information about the immune system is fascinating!! I want to take that test, too... :P

Rachel,

AMAZING news on your DMPS!!!! :D :D

Everyone,

Yesterday I had an endoscopy, and they found out some pretty bad things. :( First, I have significant acid damage (put on Prilosec OTC for two months) and a schatzki ring. Second, I probably have Eosinophilic Esophagitis, but the doctor decided to stretch the rings instead of take a biopsy because they were so restricted (and he was only able to stretch them to 12mm, when a normal diameter is 20mm). I'm going to be having another endo in 2 months to see how things are and see if he can take a biopsy then. He put me on Flovent (swallowed) for that, and fortunately we already have a prescription (unused ) for asthma, etc. 3) Probable hietal hernia.

So for the next two weeks I'm on a soft food diet (just before Christmas! :() and unable to take any pills besides the prilosec (only fish oil and detox drops for me as far as vitamins go, but we might have to add in adrenal drops because of the steroids).

I forget the person who brought up adrenals, but I've had problems with them since before I was born. When I finally got them adequately addressed (diet, supplements, homeopathic) they were functioning at about 40%. Only after they became balanced did a problem with my thyroid show up (80%, after showing 100% in muscle testing before). Adrenals are definitely very important.

This is exactly what Dr. H has had good luck with using Cowden for. His own wife had trouble getting off abx, and did with Cowden, and even felt better than she ever has.

That's a bummer before Christmas. :(

Sounds like you're getting some more answers though. Is your appointment with the LLMD next month?.....or was it February?

Oh, Birdy, I'm sorry. :(

I was thinking about the study on gluten/VSL#3 .... It seems that the good bacteria in our system is essential to digestion if they are able to use this product to "pre-digest" gluten.

I agree that we need the good bacteria for optimal health and digestion. If we're lacking the good stuff its most likely because we've got overgrowths of the baddies. :(

Guess what....I saw Amy today...and I found out *for sure* that I have a "friend". Yup...he's been eating my food and most likely the cause of alot of ongoing inflammation and so many food intolerances.

I have a tapeworm. I guess noone would really be shocked by that news though. :P

So I told her my main concern is my ongoing gut issues....I'm feeling good in other areas but no improvement with the food intolerances....plus I still struggle to keep my weight stable. I can lose it so easily if I'm not careful.

I told her I only eat beef and peas. She said theres definately some organism causing that...its more than just the yeast which has showed up in the past.

I've been tested for parasites but nothing significant ever showed up. Dr. M. had commented that there was some major gut issues...more than yeast....but nothing was pinpointed at that time.

So her and Scott tested all the organisms and this parasite showed up. Out of about 30 different slides I only tested for 2 of them....and both slides were the exact same organism but at different stages of its life cycle. So its a tapeworm....they said it showed up very clearly today.

Yeast was less of an issue for me...so it seems with chelation the yeast is going down. :)

So apparantly dealing with the mercury and getting the yeast levels down has allowed for the tapeworm to show up really strongly.

Stupid tapeworm!

I'm gonna write an email about everything and send it out later. :)

I wont be taking Humaworm for my tapeworm. She had it there and tested me for it...she said its a definate "no" for the Humaworm....it majorly stressed my body out. No surprise there either.

Stupid herbs!

My body still hates the herbs and they cause alot of stress to my body....which makes it really difficult for her to find treatments for me. I react to most of the stuff she tests.

I was joking with Scott about the "Humaworm craze" thats going on right now. I said I must be the *only* one not taking it!!

He said yeah...the humaworm link in his newsletter had more hits then any other link! He was on it for a month but didnt "see" anything. He said at one time parasites were a big issue for him.....but they dont show up at all anymore.

This is the tapeworm that showed up today..

Taenia saginata : The Beef Tapeworm

Taenia saginata (tay-EE-nee-ah SAJ-in-ARE-tah) is a giant among the human parasites. A complete specimen may grow to 8m in length - nearly the length of the digestive tract of an adult human. The worms attach high up in the small intestine and grow downwards. The segments of this worm may reach 1.5x1cm. With such a large body, these worms are prime candidates for causing nutritional deficiencies in the host.

As the name suggests, the intermediate host for this worm is the cow, and the cysticerci may be observed as 0.5cm diameter fluid filled bladders in the muscle of these animals. Meat inspectors will look for these cysticerci in the cattle slaughtered at abattoirs. The gravid (ie. full of eggs) proglottids passed in the faeces are the diagnostic stage of the worm, and these may be differentiated from those of Taenia solium (SO-lee-um) by counting the lateral branches of the darkly coloured uterus (T. saginata has approximately 20, T. solium has 9-12).

Taenia saginata is endemic in Australia, although modern methods of meat processing mean that it is rarely seen now. Aside from nutritional problems, the presence of this tapeworm generally causes mild to moderate abdominal symptoms (nausea, pain, etc).

It says it can only reproduce in the human gut. :(

Maybe after treating this I will gain more weight!!! Maybe I will react to less foods!!

Amy said it probably wont be easy to get rid of it...its gonna take some time but we will be treating it aggressively. :)

OMGOSH!!!! They just called me to see if I wanted to see Dr. Amy while she's here. Apparently she had a cancellation and they called me. Guess what?! I had to TURN IT DOWN. :

Awww...Donna....thats a bummer! :(

Actually during my appt. they said that someone had cancelled...Amy told Scott to find out if someone else wants to come in. He left to go talk to the other Amy about calling people from the list.

Shoot...I wish you'd been free to take the appt! That really sucks. :(

You would love her...shes really amazing and so on top of things. I love how even though I havent seen her in 6 months she knows my history like I just told her everything yesterday. It makes things much easier when you dont have to go over things that have already been covered. :)

CarlaB Enthusiast

What a shocker! NOT!

I think you will feel much better getting rid of it ... I know I did! Much! So, how are you going to treat? I would have guessed that Humaworm would be too much for you, LOL.

Be back later to catch up on posts and hopefully I will send out my email later tonight. :)

I'll post when I send it out...if anyone is interested and doesnt get an email....let me know. I know I have most email addresses but not all.

:lol::lol:

Yeah...really...it wasnt exactly BIG news but I just want the freaking thing gone....like right now!! :P

I think you will feel much better getting rid of it ... I know I did! Much! So, how are you going to treat? I would have guessed that Humaworm would be too much for you, LOL.

I was thinking about it on my drive over there. I wanted to really focus on my gut today and try to figure out whats causing all this inflammation. I was really hoping it would show up but I was kind of stressing about my treatment options....cuz I *know* they are limited...I cant do the herbs.

I figured a prescription antiparasitic would be the best way to go for me if I did end up having a parasite.

Amy tried several different possibilities and none of them would work for me. They all stressed my body too much.

So yeah...I'm gonna be taking Alinia...a strong prescription antiparasitic.

She said I might need several rounds of it and treating the parasite is gonna cause even more inflammation and immune responses in my gut.

Way back early on in the thread I was taking Ketotifen....its used in treating leaky gut. Its sort of like a benedryl for the gut....it reduces inflammation and doctors have had good results with it. It was the HN doctors who originally put me on it...but back then I wasnt treating anything...other than C. Diff.

So I brought it with me today to see if I test well for it and if it might be beneficial for me at this point. I tested well for it and its something that Amy likes to use to reduce inflammation in the gut.

Way back then I talked to the pharmacist who compounds the Ketotifen and he was really knowledgeable...we had a really long conversation about gluten intolerance/leaky gut, etc. Amy has talked with him also and she was really familiar with the Ketotifen.

So she wants me to get back on it for a full month before starting on the Alinia. She said reducing the inflammation will help alot with treating the tapeworm.

The Ketotifen I have right now is expired...and the refills are also past date. I need to have Dr. S. or the HN Dr. call in a new prescription. The pharmacy is in Washington so I'll have to wait for it to get delivered. I think its gonna be about 5 weeks until I can actually start taking the Alinia.

I hope I do feel alot better without this stupid worm taking all my nutrients away!! :P

There's always the metal problem to keep on top of with removing the tapeworm, too. So, it's probably good to wait another month. If it's a big one, then there could be lots of metals. I even got sick the first couple days killing mine!

It's really nasty thinking there's a big worm in you ... I would be nauseous for a couple hours every time I saw some of it ....

Good point Carla.

Makes me wish Mitch and I had had the money to do a broader ART session in September. We were just tested for what supplements would be good for us for what came up on the ASYRA. ASYRA brings stuff up that's primary and then ART is used to get a more complete picture and treatment. At least that's what happened with Talitha's first appointment. The boys didn't have that but we were in savings mode and the bill depends on the amount of time taken.

Donna,

Oh yea...there weren't 3 pages...I only got the IgG.

Birdy,

I'm so sorry...that's a real bummer!

Everyone,

Do you remember my friend who had rectal bleeding? Well, she had an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they said that everything came back normal! She is bummed because she doesn't know what the heck is wrong with her. She did stop bleeding though. Apparently they took biopsies of something...I think of her small intestine, but she has no idea. She will get results from that on Wednesday. When she left the place, they said that she probably has IBS!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her that that is really a nonexistent condition and that she needs to try the gluten free diet strictly and she may get results from that. Her main problem is nausea.

I do have a parasite that came up on ASYRA. I just don't know how much of a problem it is. Not treating anything with that now but don't want to till I can get my amalgams out and do some kind of chelation, whatever form that may be.

I was going to say the three pages are tabbed. Glad you found them.

I hope your friend is willing to try the gluten-free diet.

BUT, of all the parasites to have you have to have THE GIANT AMONG THE HUMAN PARASITES?????????

BUT, of all the parasites to have you have to have THE GIANT AMONG THE HUMAN PARASITES?????????

It's the kind I think I had, too. I think it's pretty common, and it's a "safe" one compared to others. This one stays in the intestines.

Here's an article I found interesting. Open Original Shared Link

Right, but even if I am gluten-free, I still get the d when I'm off the VSL#3, so there must be more to it in my case ... it can't just be the guten/VSL#3 .... for me there's more.

I was thinking about the study on gluten/VSL#3 .... It seems that the good bacteria in our system is essential to digestion if they are able to use this product to "pre-digest" gluten.

Carla,

It could be that you have an overgrowth of a bad bacteria and the VSL balances it out, but is not "Holding" or attaching to the gut walls - for some reason. So, when you stop taking it the "baddies" take over again.

I am reading a good book, Bacteria for Breakfast. It is amazing how many bacteria's live in our intestines.

Have you been tested for C-diff? From my reading it seems that certain bacteria's balance others out.

What strain is the VSL? I can look it up in my book and see if there is any good info on it that might give you some ideas.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Yes, I do have bad bacteria overgrowth and have been treating it for several months. Good call on that one. ;)

The VSL#3 is several strains ... 450 billion organisms!!!!

I also take Theralac AND Ultra Flora!!!

My gut is SO much better than it was! The pain is gone and so are the food intolerances. :)

I tested negative for C Diff and take s. boulardii to prevent it.

I'll be interested in what your book says ... I finished Humaworm, so need to go back on Oregano Oil, or something else, to keep after the bad guys.

Happy Birthday!

I agree, it so often overlooked! I live in the UK and I have often wondered why doctors are so reluctant to at least exclude it - my thoughts are perhaps the particular tests are expensive for the NHS, so therefore saved for people with 'obvious' symptoms.  I was diagnosed in 2013 and was told immediately that my parents, sibling and children should be checked.  My parents' GP to this day has not put forward my father for testing, and my mother was never tested in her lifetime, despite the fact that they both have some interesting symptoms/family history that reflect they might have coeliac disease (Dad - extreme bloating, and his Mum clearly had autoimmune issues, albeit undiagnosed as such; Mum - osteoporosis, anxiety).  I am now my father' legal guardian and suspecting my parents may have forgotten to ask their GP for a test (which is entirely possible!) I put it to his last GP that he ought to be tested.  He looked at Dad's blood results and purely because he was not anemic said he wasn't a coeliac.  Hopefully as the awareness of Coeliac Disease spreads among the general public, people will be able to advocate for themselves.  It is hard because in the UK the NHS is very stretched, but the fallout from not being diagnosed in a timely fashion will only cost the NHS more money. Interestingly, a complete aside, I met someone recently whose son was diagnosed (I think she said he was 8).  At a recent birthday party with 8 guests, 4 boys out of the 8 had received diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, which is an astounding statistic  As far as I know, though, they had all had obvious gastric symptoms leading to their NHS diagnosis.  In my own case I had  acute onset anxiety, hypnopompic hallucinations (vivid hallucinations upon waking),  odd liver function, anxiety, headaches, ulcers and low iron but it wasn't until the gastric symptoms hit me that a GP thought to do coeliac testing, and my numbers were through the roof.  As @trents says, by the grace of God I was diagnosed, and the diet has pretty much dealt with most of those symptoms.  I have much to be grateful for. @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

@EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees.  People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits.  Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease.   Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of the extra histamine the body makes with Celiac disease and histamine consumed in the diet.   Vitamin C and the eight B vitamins are needed to help the body clear histamine.   Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?
