ugh, my stomic is doing the wierd twiching/poping why.... i know i did not get glutend so ihave no clue :(

After a year gluten-free, I still get that. A lot of times, I have no idea what causes it. I"m just feeling better today after stomach problems for the past week--I swear I wasn't glutened, but that's what it felt like. I'm going back to absolute basics, and see if I can figure it out. For some of us, it takes longer

yeah all of this sucks lol :(

my heads doing that stupid stoned feeling again(and this time i did not smoke at all today) ugh i hate this feeling. My doctors only answers for anything i bring up is (your healing) gah

I had a question about anemia, i read that one of the symptoms (besides for the heady feeling i get) is loss of color in nails, my finger nails are still a healthy pink, but my toenails are all very bland in color almost grey, like it looks like no blood is in them( i have dead mans toes) not sure if that could be a sign or not probably turning nothing into somthing im good at that i also have incrediably dry hands and skin lately

question unrelated to this topic

are all the adds on this site related to celiac disease? just wondering because there are alot of adds about alzheimers- is there a celiac link? my great grandpa had alzheimers but he is the only one so far

Lister, on one of your other threads I posted how to get cheap and nutritous food for less than $10 a week.

What you are eating (rice cakes, chips) is very expensive for its nutritional value... indeed raice cakes have almost no nutritional value.. this might seem like a lot of hassle, its a lot less than it seems.....

If you buy a bag of chicken offcuts on the bone you can make a weeks food from this and not waste anything.

Im not financially strapped but your diet is expensive... i don't throw away things like carrot peel or chicken bones etc. its full of goodness....

If you eat a chicken and just pull of the meat you are getting less than 50% of the vitamins and protein, the bones are full of gelatin that boils out and take the calcium with it (good for celaics) vitamis etc are concetrated under the skins of vegetables.

There is basically not much to it except thowing the stuff in a big pan and boiling it and then pulling the chicken offcuts out after an hour and pulling the meat off..it will just slide off. Everything else will still be in the pan, if you eat boiled carrots for instance the water is orange because it contains the vitamin 'A' but you thrown that away....

You can often scrounge the tops off leeks or celery or carrots etc from a grocer, they just throw them out. Offer them a $ for a big back if they are heartless!

Touche, Lister! I am old!:lol::lol: No harm done, so don't feel bad.

Yet another way to boil eggs: Put six eggs in a sort of deep pot, and cover with cold water. Set pot on burner and turn heat to High. When the water starts boiling, remove pot from burner, put the lid on it, and set timer for 20 minutes. When timer rings, pour off the hot water, set the pot (lid removed) in the sink, fill with cold water, put in a lot of ice cubes, and leave like this for about 30 minutes. This ice bath keeps the yolks from turning green. After that, keep the eggs in the refrigerator.

Deviled eggs require that you discard the shells and use those yellow things inside the eggs. Pulling our collective leg on that one, weren't you, sugar?

Slice the peeled eggs in half lengthwise, reserve the white part, dump the yolks onto a plate, and mash them with a fork. Add salt, pepper, a little vinegar, mustard, and mayo. Mix well until they are creamy but not runny. I don't measure these condiments, so you'll have to experiment to get them to suit your taste. I like salty, sour things, but you might not. Spoon this mixture back onto the egg whites, sprinkle with paprika, and arrange the deviled eggs on a platter. I have several deviled egg plates, but they aren't necessary. Break some wooden toothpicks in half and stick a half, pointed side down, into each egg. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate. (The toothpicks keep the plastic wrap from sticking to the eggs.) It isn't necessary to use the paprika; it's just a southern custom. You could put an olive on each egg half.

When you make egg salad, you could chop some olives and add them. This mixture makes a good sandwich.

I think you're really trying to improve your eating habits, and you seem to be eager to learn. What's worrying us is the lack of protein in your diet. Your brain cells and the rest of your body are begging for protein!

Didn't you say you "risked dairy" recently? That could be the cause of the stomach problems...

would post lists but theres nothing to be proud of i guess, still eating some processed stuff. like my cereal, very small amount of chips but i gave up all the engerbars and ricecrispy treats and stuff like that. I did add protein with the eggs though and i have to say WOW it helpd alot thanks for the advice, now instead of having to eat like every 45 minutes its like every 5 hours man it makes a big diffrince. Now i just need to get some omega3, i really dont wanna risk the bobs so i am looking for flax seed oil instead i figure i would use that instead of my olive oil for my cooking

penguin Community Regular

I don't think flax seed oil is meant for cooking, I think it has a really low smoke point. I would add the oil to my salads. Eggs have a lot of Omega-3's :)

ravenwoodglass Mentor

Hi Lister, I'm glad the extra protein is helping. ChelsE is right about the lower flash point for Flax, as she said add it to salads etc. In addition Olive Oil also has a low flash point so when I use it for frying stuff I add just a touch of a regular cooking oil. This raises the flash point enough to improve safety. This will also keep butter from burning. I had to almost burn down 2 kitchens before someone gave me this hint. When you use olive oil for frying don't use the Extra Virgin stuff (1st press) go ahead and get some 3rd press (read cheaper, you can tell by the price) plain olive oil. It will be easier on your budget.

that's awesome the protein thing worked. you can try to find omega-3 eggs. that might be an option for you...or you can put flax oil on your salads and stuff...

Hi, Glad things are going well. It is amazing sometimes what a little extra protein can do. If you are going to continue adding eggs frequently to your daily diet I would not worry too much about finding the flax. Eggs are an excellent source of the nutrients that the oil would provide. It sounds like your figured out what your body needed and I am relieved to hear you are doing better.

im doing this in white color, if u want to read highlight, just confused about something figure i would post here instead of in a new thread, but its kinda gross so i figure i would hide it.2 questions. Now i dont really know what a healthy bm is supposed to look like so this could be it but the color of my bms changed overnight, to a very lighter color almost tan, instead of the ordanry greenish color is this normal? also i think i may have a anebia of some sort, i keep having bms that contain a snot like substance, and today the snot had blood in it, its really strange..should i consult my doctor? i think he is just going to reply with "you where already tested for parasites and bactera, its nothing" not sure if i should even worry about it.

lorka150 Collaborator

it sounds like fatty stools, associated with celiac... and the blood? DEFINITELY go see the doctor.

Mango04 Enthusiast

Here is my question:

What is the treatment for parasites? Does it always require medication? I thought there was some sort of anti-fungal diet you could go on to try and eliminate them.

aprilh Apprentice
yesterday was none, it was the day before that i smoked alot, but i felt b etter in the afternoon, today i feel the same but it is not getting better

as for thyroids and blood suger that i dont know

i know they ran like 5 diffrent blood tests, and i had a catscan to test for thyroid problems but other then that im clueless

update- im getting hot cold flashs gar why today

It sounds like your adrenal glands. My symptoms are very similar to those, lightheaded, dizzy, hot and cold flashes, very weak, kidneys hurt, etc. I racked my brain trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I went to the urgent care to have my blood sugar checked (thought I put myself into some kind of diabetic state) and my kidneys/bladder checked. Everything fine. Took my adrenal support (Adaptocrine) and immediately started feeling better.

Stress on the body can stress your adrenals.

Have you been eating gluten? I know when I do I get very mucousy on the inside. I don't know. I think the blood in your bm's mean you are having a "true allergic reaction" to a substance.

Lister Rising Star

it was not like blood blood. it was only in the snot, and i had reguler bms but there was one thing of snot in it that had blood in the snot, not blood on my stools though just on the snot substance. i had 2 of these snot things today, but i also had alot of stools(skinny stools not fat, but they were like skinny and was like a good stream of them) but like i said the blood was only in the snot thing, should i still go see a doctor?

and no i have not been eating gluten, i am very strickt on my diet and have taken every cc thought into mind, and i dont feel glutened infact ifeel pretty good just those worried me

Lister Rising Star

well i just, wanna vent a bit, still looking for answers from my problems above, but this is unrelated

stupid morning stupid eggs. i woke up extra early for work, so i could scramble some eggs and have nice hot eggs for breakfast, i did that, they looked great, then i went to put saranrap on them and the bowl flung out of my hands and onto the floor :( stupid morning

also i had more snot guys this morning, but no blood just the snot stuff and reguler bms. should i really worry? i dont want to call my doc unless i know its really important because i dont want him to get the wrong idea of me and think im a hypo.

Lister Rising Star

also i keep having shooting pain inside my arse, like somewhere deep in my arse, i get a shooting pain that will last like 1 sec and then go away and then come back and then go away :( whats going on now :(

I had the same thing happen to me at around your age, and to this day it's the most painful experience I've ever had. For me it was the right side of my head, above my ear, running from my nerves in my neck. For years before my outbreak I felt a tingling sensation shooting along the exact nerves that ended up exactly where the shingles blisters appeared. I highly recommend the two shot shingles vaccine as soon as your turn 50--I did this because I started to get the same tingling sensations in the same area, and after the vaccines I've never felt that again.  As you likely know, shingles is caused by chicken pox, which was once though of as one of those harmless childhood viruses that everyone should catch in the wild--little did they know that it can stay in your nervous system for your entire life, and cause major issues as you age.

Thanks for the info. I recently moved to CA from Wyoming and in that western region the Costco and Sam's /Walmart Brands have many nuts and more products that are labeled gluten free. I was told it's because those products are packaged and processed  in different  plants. Some plants can be labeled  gluten free because the plant does not also package gluten products and they know that for example the trucks, containers equipment are not used to handle wheat, barely or Rye. The Walmart butter in the western region says gluten free but not here. Most of The Kirkland and Members Mark brands in CA say they are from Vietnam. That's not the case in Wyoming and Colorado. I've spoken to customer service at the stores here in California. They were not helpful. I check labels every time I go to the store. The stores where I am are a Sh*tshow. The Magalopoly grocery chain Vons/Safeway/Albertsons, etc. are the same. Fishers and Planters brands no longer say gluten free. It could be regional. There are nuts with sugar coatings and fruit and nut mixes at the big chains that are labeled gluten free but I don't want the fruit or sugar.  It's so difficult I am considering moving again. I thought it would be easier to find safe food in a more populated area. It's actually worse.  I was undiagnosed for most of my life but not because I didn't try to figure it out. So I have had all the complications possible. I don't have any spare organs left.  No a little gluten will hurt you. The autoimmune process continues to destroy your organs though you may not feel it. If you are getting a little all the time and as much as we try we probably all are and so the damage is happening. Now the FDA has pretty much abandoned celiacs. There are no requirements for labeling for common allergens on medications. All the generic drugs made outside the US are not regulated for common allergens and the FDA is taking the last gluten free porcine Thyroid med, NP Thyroid, off the market in 2026. I was being glutened by a generic levothyroxin. The insurance wouldn't pay for the gluten free brand any longer because the FDA took them all off their approved formulary. So now I am paying $147 out of pocket for NP Thyroid but shortly I will have no safe choice. Other people with allergies should be aware that these foreign generic pharmaceutical producers are using ground shellfish shell as pill coatings and anti-desicants. The FDA knows this but  now just waits for consumers to complain or die. The take over of Wholefoods by Amazon destroyed a very reliable source of good high quality food for people with allergies and for people who wanted good reliably organic food. Bezos thought  he could make a fortune off people who were paying alot for organic and allergen free food by substituting cheap brands from Thailand. He didn't understand who the customers were who were willing to pay more for that food and why. I went from spending hundreds to nothing because Bezo removed every single trusted brand that I was buying. Now they are closing Whole foods stores across the country. In CA, Mill Valley store (closed July 2025) and the National Blvd. store in West Los Angeles (closed October 2025). The Cupertino store will close.  In recent years I have learned to be careful and trust no one. I have been deleberately glutened in a restaurant that was my favorite (a new employee). The Chef owner was not in the kitchen that night. I've had  a metal scouring pad cut up over my food. The chain offered gluten free dishes but it only takes one crazy who thinks you're a problem as a food fadist. Good thing I always look. Good thing they didn't do that to food going to a child with a busy mom.  I give big tips and apologize for having to ask in restaurants but mental illness seem to be rampant. I've learn the hard way.          I don't buy any processed food that doesn't say gluten free.  I am a life long Catholic. I worked for the Church while at college. I don't go to Church anymore because the men at the top decided Jesus is gluten. The special hosts are gluten less not gluten free. No I can't drink wine after people with gluten in their mouth and a variety of deadly germs. I have been abandoned and excluded by my Church/Family.  Having nearly died several times, safe food is paramount. If your immune system collapses as mine did, you get sepsis. It can kill you very quickly. I spent 5 days unconscious and had to have my appendix and gall bladder removed because they were necrotic. I was 25. They didn't figure out I had celiac till I was 53. No one will take the time to tell you what can happen when your immune system gets overwhelmed from its constant fighting the gluten and just stops. It is miserable that our food is processed so carelessly. Our food in many aspects is not safe. And the merging of all the grocery chains has made it far worse. Its a disaster. Krogers also recently purchased Vitacost where I was getting the products I could no longer get at Whole Foods. Kroger is eliminating those products from Vitacost just a Bezos did from WF. I am looking for reliable and certified sources for nuts. I have lived the worst consequences of the disease and being exposed unknowingly and maliciously. Once I was diagnosed I learned way more than anyone should have to about the food industry.  I don't do gray areas. And now I dont eat out except very rarely.  I have not eaten fast food for 30 years before the celiac diagnosis. Gluten aside..... It's not food and it's not safe.  No one has got our backs. Sharing safe food sources is one thing we can do to try to be safe.
