We just started mygym yesterday for Colin. He absolutely loved it. He tried to take over the place! He was running all over.. it was like a gold mine for him, as we dont have a lot of space in our house, so the open floor just had him crawling around like a mad man.

We are trying to get ourselves together for our trip to Disney next Friday. We will be staying in my parents house, so I need to get baking to bring down bread and some snacks. It feels so overwhelming just for a vacation. I know most of you have done this already, this is a first for me and I need to sit and put things in perspective.

I love MyGym! My nieces went there frequently when they were younger, such a great place for kids. One of them even had their birthday party there, they did such a great job and everyone had so much fun.

Good luck with preparing for your vacation :) Just take some deep breaths and everything will fall into place. I think it gets easier with time, becoming almost routine taking care of the many little details of a special diet.

You sure have been busy! I'm glad that both of the boys, and you :lol: , are enjoying hockey and that's great that Ty is joining in and really making a lot of progress on the diet :)

Has anyone been following the reports on the latest hostage situation/school tragedy in Colorado? It's upsetting to think about how easily it was for this guy to come into the school with a gun, take the 6 girls hostage, sexually assault all of them and then kill one of them. So very scary, sad and tragic.

Yes julie.. I have been as much as my stomach will allow. It makes me physically sick how these things happen. I think back to how naive I was in high school. I couldnt even imagine that happening.. now its more and more frequent. I feel so deeply for those kids in that school and those poor girls. They are scarred forever. The one that was killed, may her soul rest in peace. The poor girl. I pray for all of them that live in that town. It must be awful

I don't know--possibly he lied his way in?

It's just so unfortunate. That poor girl, she had just turned 16. The whole thing is just so sad.

It's just so unfortunate. That poor girl, she had just turned 16. The whole thing is just so sad.

From what I understand, the school is not locked down, unless I heard wrong. It's in a relatively small town so maybe that is the reason. They just held a press conference and I was watching it, they have video of the guy sitting in his car on the school grounds, so they suspect he had been there at least an hour before going in.

There are conflicting reports that he asked a student where he could find a list of certain students and he was directed to the classroom, again not verified, but I can't help but think was this a situation where he found these specific girls on MySpace, or something similar, if it was planned out or what.

I guess we will see as we learn more.

I feel very badly for all the girls who were assaulted, and how very tragic the one who was shot died.

Boy, you think kids are safe at school.....

So very upsetting.

I just went and read the article online. My daughter wanted to know what was going on. I wonder how much this will haunt me the next few days or whatever. She scares easily. Makes me glad I'm homeschooling. I reiterated that she could make friends at church, she didn't need to go to school for that. We haven't been to church much lately. Once Mitch has healed up enough he will take the older two so they can go and Seth won't have his nap messed up all the time, unless we go to our old church, then the drive would be long enough if he fell asleep right away.

I live in a smaller town and would think it was totally safe from this type of thing also.

I have to wonder if the swat team made things worse for the girl that got shot. The article said she tried to run at that time and the guy shot her then himself.

So sad. :(

How's school going?

I've started homeschooling my daughter (1st grade). If she wouldn't be so hard on herself it would be much easier. :P

yeah school is a lot of work i have 60 pages of reading for my ap us history class that i have to do by friday but we did just have a 4-day weekend (yom kippur) so i took some time off which was really fun.

Yes, she's finding college to be a little harder than she expected, but she's adjusting well and making friends. She has no time for Rachelville now. :( I'm sure she'll pop in occassionally to say hi though.

Thanks Nikki! You know, I really think the gluten-free cat food is making a difference with him. His coat, which has always been beautiful, is even softer and isn't matting at all on his back. He's throwing up less, too :rolleyes: Guess gluten wasn't so good for him, either. I just wish I'd changed him over a year ago! :D

Ohhh, I miss my kitties. :(

I'm a cat lover but my kiddies are too young and rough yet. We also live in a rental that doesn't allow pets.

I live vicariously through all your guyses pets.

Poor Felix (my rather large shiny black kitty) has bad teeth and has to go into the vets next week to have all his teeth out :blink:

I noticed he wasn't eating much,and wasn't his usual friendly self and he was dribbling alot,so took him to the vets and he said all his teeth are rotten and they have to come out (although they will try to salvage any if they can)

Poor thing-it was such a trauma getting him in the travel box.He knows as soon as he sees it where he's going! He cried like a baby all the way there,(and wet himself! :( ).I don't think he likes the car journey either.

Anyway he's on antibiotics and Prednisilone until his op next week.

The vet said once his gums heal he'll be able to eat fine as the gums harden up.

Oh no! Poor Felix :( That sounds terrible. At least after the operation, and he heals up, he shouldn't be in pain anymore. The poor little thing. :( So, he'll be able to eat--that's interseting (and good).

That's the sad thing about a pet--they can't tell us when somethings wrong, so a lot of times when we notice something it's already progressed.

My cat dosen't like to go in the car either--of course the only place he ever goes in the car is the vet! :D

Please let me know how Felix does next week.

On a completely different note, is your son still scheduled for his procedure this Friday? Boy, you have a lot to deal with right now!

Yep, Alan is scheduled for Friday ( Oh please god don't let it be cancelled again)

We have to ring the ward before we leave on Fri morning to check it's still on.

I hate uncertainties <_<

Felix is booked in for next Wednesday.

I don't know why but I've found that castrated males make much better pets.

Is it possible they did do a celiac disease panel before your biopsy? This would be the normal chain of events. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Some recent, larger studies put the risk at near 50% for the first degree relatives of those who have active celiac disease.

      Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted. The past few moths have been the best by for recovery for myself. I have been the least bloated I have ever been, my constant throat clearing is almost gone, I have stopped almost all medication I was prevously taking (was taking vyvanse for adhd, pristiq for anxiety,fomotadine/blexten for histamine blockers and singulair). Only thing I take now is Tecta. I also no longer get any rashes after eating. Things are going very well. Most success came actually once I upped my B12 daily dose to 5,000 mcg. I do have one thing I am un able to figure out and want to see if anyone else has this issue or has experience working around it. Ever since I was born I have always had a issue getting fruits and veggies down. No matter how hard I tried, it would always result in gagging or throwing up. Always just thought I was a picky eater. Now that my stomach and system has healed enough that I can feel when something is off almost istantly, I notice that after eating most fruits (sometimes I am ok with bananas) and veggies, my stomach instantly starts burning and my heart starts to pound and I get really anxious as if my body doesnt know what to do with what just enetered it. So I am thinking now that this is what probably was going on when I was born and my body started rejecting it before which caused this weird sensory issue with it causing the gagging. Hoping someone has some exprience with this as well because I would love to be able to enjoy a nice fruit smoothie once in a while haha. Thanks everyone!

      i know i've been rather cynical and sad about being fully diagnosed in june 2025, but my boyfriend has been consistently showing me the wonderful world that is gluten free cooking and baking. in the past couple of days he's made me a gluten free rice paper-wrapped spanakopita "pastry", plus a wonderful mac and cheese bechamel-ish sauce with gluten free pasta (san remo brand if you're in australia/if you can get your hands on it wherever you are).  those meals are notably gluten free, but mainly he's been making me easy gluten free meals - chili mince with white rice and sour cream, chicken soup with homemade stock from the chicken remains, and roast chickens with rice flour gravy and roast veggies. i'm a bit too thankful and grateful lol. how lucky could i possibly be? and, of course, for those who don't have someone to cook for them, it's quite easy to learn to cook for yourself. i've been making a lot of meals for us too. honestly, cooking is pretty darn fun! knowing basic knife skills and sanitary practices are all you really need. experimenting with spices will help you get on track to creating some really flavourful and yummy dishes. coeliac is a pain, but you can use it to your advantage. healthier eating and having fun in the kitchen are major upsides. much luck to all of you! let's be healthy!

      That test is saying that your daughter is not making normal amounts of any IGA antibodies.  She's not making normal amounts of antibodies against gliadin, not against bacteria, not against viruses.  She is deficient in total IGA, so the test for antigliadin antibodies is not valid.  The test was a failure.  The test only works if all different kinds of antibodies were being made.  Your daughter is not making all different kinds of antibodies, so the test results are moot.  Your daughter should have the DGP IgG and TTG IgG tests done.   The tests should be performed while she is still consuming gluten.  Stopping and restarting a gluten containing diet can make her more sick, just like you refuse to eat gluten for testing.  Call the doctor's office, request both the IGG tests. Request to be put on the cancellation list for an appointment sooner.  Ask for genetic testing.   Celiac disease is passed on from parents to children.  You and all seven children should be tested for genes for Celiac disease.  Your parents, your siblings and their children should be tested as well.  Eating gluten is not required for genetic testing because your genes don't change.  Genetic testing is not a diagnosis of Celiac disease.  Just having the genes means there is the potential of developing Celiac disease if the Celiac genes are activated.  Genetic testing helps us decide if the Celiac genes are activated when coupled with physical symptoms, antibody testing, and biopsy examination. It's frustrating when doctors get it wrong and we suffer for it.  Hang in there.  You're a good mom for pursuing this!
