Sillies I have a favor to ask and since this is the Silly Thread I guess I am allowed....

I listen to this awesome radio station out of Rochester NY which we found while on our Honeymoon...I stream it over the net at work but it is an actual FM station. My favorite DJ is in a popularity contest with other DJ's in the Rochester area for the next few weeks. He won last week's round and today started a new round. Could you all throw some votes his way for me? It won't let you vote on the same computer more than once a Day. Anyway he has been on the radio for 15-20 years and up there he is very well respected.

The website is called RochesterInsider. You would click on the Radio March Madness link and then hit the vote here button. It will show you 4 match-ups. He is on the bottom of the first column. His name is The Mayor Pete Kennedy and he is matched up against a girl. He is currently losing.

Thanks Everyone!

Ps---- He is a cutie in my eyes too!

if anyone is offended by this I will delete my post too....

Gawd Amanda--you didn't offend me  I voted for the Mayor--he is cute!

They told her she needs to bleach her entire house top to bottom. She is going to try to grab a 2nd opinion now so hopefully she gets somewhere. They always say a mothers instinct and she says she herself feels like something else

is going on

 Bleach???......yeah , the fumes will be really good for a little baby...NOT

IMO a good doc always listens if Mum thinks there is something wrong

Had a great time--my dad was truly surprised. He is a very quiet gentleman, and true to form, after we all yelled "Surprise" upon his arrival--he calmly turned to me and said--"everyone's here.":lol:

Twas a bit dicey the first hour or so of the drive up--felt some creeping panic but was able to breathe out of it eventually. Amanda--I did look for you--we probably just missed each other. I'm so sorry about poor little Landon.

It was so nice to see everyone--can't remember the last time I laughed so much! When we got into town, we drove by the church we were married in--it was 33 years to the day and almost (by the time we got there) to the hour! Pretty cool....it looked exactly the same :)

33 years Patti???...........NAH - you don't look old enough in your new av (positively GLAM!!)

Glad you had a good time - (and your Dad :) )

EMILY - Also glad YOUR Mum had a good birthday and loved her bib (how could she not?? )

Oh heeeellllp me!!!.........what have I done???? ..........I seemed to have pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder.

Watching me 'try' to turn my head is no end of amusement - dunno if I over done it with the 2 gym classes OR it's from crashing out on the couch !!!!

Where's Jess?? - I neeeed the number of her masseuse :o

Your becoming an exercise fiend

Em puts the Fun in Functional, bib-wise. :)

That's an alleged solution to a temp of 103?????

Patti!! Great av!!! (You look not a day over 38 you spring chicken you!!) <bawk!>

And a smile :) at the great time you had.

Seeing the church of nuptiality sounds really nice. :)

What is wrong with the world?

Indeed.....bleach.....no possible ear infection......

Come on.

I'm back!!!!!

What a GREAT pic, Patti! You look terrific, as does your dad.

Didn't get a shot of me with Mom.....so much going on, I just didn't ever get my hands on the camera.

Sillies I have a favor to ask and since this is the Silly Thread I guess I am allowed....

Done. I'm voting for him on looks alone.....

Totally in agreement. You look young, girl!

Heat for ten minutes, then ice for ten minutes...do it for an hour if you can, then take a break and do another hour, say, before you go to bed.

Em puts the Fun in Functional, bib-wise. :)

Ah! Phunny you should choose this word, Ptaum....said bib was anything but functional. So hilarious....I ended up using thinned acrylic paints, as it was too big an area to be using very expensive fabric paints. Well, the terry of the bib just kept sucking it in, so I was plying the paint on with reckless abandon, as I wanted it to be quite vivid. Well, it is vivid....but I probably used three entire cans of paint. It is rather....stiff. More amusing, it weighs probably fifteen pounds, so my mom put it on and just about collapsed on the couch. So, she will be wearing it when she is eating while reclining, and there won't be that huge drag on her neck.

It would probably work well as a dental bib, worn to keep radiation from leaking through to one's body during Xrays. I would bet it's bullet-proof.

Perhaps a whole new market.......

Can Do.

Jen (Landen's mom) has applied for a nursing position in my office which will be better for her. My office is very understanding on families and sick time. It would be better for her right now.

This is SO funny....I can just see your poor little mom trying to stand in her bib and saying "yes dear, I love it, really  ", all the while trying not to topple backward :o

Ha! Actually, it went something like this (I'm paraphrasing): Mom snaps the bib around her neck, tries to stand without pitching forward, and shouts, "Un-f*cking-believable!! My neck's gonna snap!"

She did, however, love the picture itself, and will take it downstairs to their dining room and put it on when she's about to sit down.

Patti, I bet you look remarkably like your dad...I can see a resemblance in your two faraway picture faces, so it must be very evident in real life!

The poor little thing. Such a shame he had to suffer so long with it :(

Hopefully the meds kick in quickly and he's better soon.

Thank you for the information ill will definitely bring it into practice .

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.
