It's Ptaoughmghmn's unofficial job, methinks. To notice, and then draw our attention to, these things....

Why yes, it IS Phataughm who has his finger on the pulse of the goings on here in Sillyville!

Em--good luck at the vet...thinking about you and little Elsie :)

I KNEW it!!!!! I knew there HAD to be a big number coming up.....this explains the basement flood :o

I dunno - I'd need more mathematical substantiation to support trans-continental postal phlipover phluid-ephekt transference. <_<

Particularly for a phenomenon w/out precedence.

Maybe the distance 'tween Patti & Jess equals sillythread post # (14397) minus Patti's personal # ? (11770). That's 2,627miles. Sounds too far. Hmmmmm

Maybe if we find a way to convert your birthdays to angles and multiply the miles by (1 - the difference in cosines)?

I am sitting here so excited for the Silly Reunion, just thinking of the fun time it will be :):)

Any ideas on what else we can do?

Yes, Susie! How's our Menstruating Missy, today?:blink::lol:

I DO hope you're on the upswing.....

I am presently feeling terrific, as Elsie's legs are, at least skeletally, poifect. :)

Muscularly, they are nonexistent. She has very little muscle mass anywhere. This is okay - - we can work on this. She has gone from NO activity to a great deal of activity. It has been an overload situation...we've been expecting too much from her, too soon. Poor wittle fing. So we need to proceed with caution and much less fervour. A long walk every day is enough for now, and work up to short distance running. YAYYYYY!!! She's okay....

He also said that she's quite underweight. I replied, "Oh, gawd. She's put on a fair amount in a week. You should have seen her ten days ago!" He just shook his head. Sooooo glad we have her....and so, he assured me, is our vet.

Cosine is part of that whole ludicrous logarithm thang, isn't it? Sine, Cosine, Tangeant.....

Gaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.........

Such useful, mind-numbing business that I call upon.. ..hmmmm.. ..let's see.. ..approximately... .. NEVER.. .. .to use in everyday life.

Emily--

Great, great news about Elsie! :D I kinda had a feeling that was it, but it's so good to know for sure!!!

She just needs a little meat on her (perfekt) bones!

Keep working on it--I think you're on to sumphin' :P

I need more data!!!!!!!!!!!

In Chinese Year of the Tiger fashion, what animal year are the two of you?

But then how to relate animals to interstate phluid-effect transfer?

Could the multiple of your post counts = the sum of the # of seconds for the animals to traverse the transfer endpoints?

I must be barquing up the wrong Willow .. . ..Jess not only hasn't yet hit 2000, she's got NEW CATS COMING <probably> & Patti's basement flood was a couple days ago. The synchronicity discrepancy is disturbing.

Patti? I don't suppose #2 all-time has passed you to become #1 while your laptop is doing the road-warrior thing. Unlikely but THAT would be enough to explain it.

<_<

Ohhhh, poor baby! It's like she's been in a coma or something! Emily, I am SO SO SO glad you have her now!!!

My best friend and I have agreed that when our husbands die, we're moving in together into a big old farmhouse, and rescue as many cats as we can. We'll be crazy cat ladies together.

I spent ALL MORNING, literally, doing bills and figuring out a two week grocery list, including gluten-free, low cholesterol, low carb, low sodium dinners for four, breakfasts, lunches, non-food items, and I needed to keep it under $250. At one point I found myself actually pulling on my hair... but it's done. Whew. This new twist is gonna take some getting used to. Well, usually I have a bigger budget, but ya know, trying to catch stuff up.

I wish I could come to the Silly Summit!!! Sigh. Must do it again next year. Susie! Tom! Start saving now! And I will too.

DingoGirl Enthusiast

SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we MUST save for the silly confab!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or - next year, in that property next to your house, a big, silly, camp-out? harder but..........w/ yeti's help and many sillies WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW your heinous menu planning - - - :o Um, yeah, I'd have no hair left.......... Yer a good mommy! :)

EMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in my self-absorbed menstrual maelstrom of woe - - - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elsie just needs to build up her gams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is SUCH good news! Weezee is so pleased.................. so yeah, just start the lanky girl out on simple, easy things..........she'll be PHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea!! on the healthy pup!

I say the next silly summit is on the west coast. Cali if it's not too hot, Seattle if it's not too wet, Andrea's house in Oregon if we can't decide (nobody tell her  )

:o Eureka!! :o

Did the flood coincide w/ the day Sillyville hit exactly 1000 pages behind Rachelville?

As a major participant in both -villes, it stands to reason you'd take the brunt of the phluidation.

In fact, I can't deduce ANY cross-thread ranking calculation where Patti doesn't leave everyone in the dust.

Hmmmm...I think we need to have both Patti and Jess complete a 72-hour phart chart, with numerical specifics that can be observed along with changes in the interval and/or scale, perhaps altering the visual perception of data. This alteration may in itself explain the phluid phluctuation, as per Hermlicht's Theorum.

Elsie sure is lucky to have you, Em! :)

I couldn't go out of the house to the grocery or whatever without running into one of "my kids"--who always greeted me with a big hug.

Yeah.... I get kids during school wanting to give me hugs. The girls are OK.....but if a middle school BOY wants a hug,...He's just trying to cop a feel :o<_<

What part of the country are you from, Laura? Do I already know this? I don't remember if I do . . . it's been a long day. No sillies (or yetis) have yet to show up and help me spread all this freakin' mulch. Have had to do it all meself <_< so far.

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

I finally got rhe answer and Tylenol is ok. Thanks everyone
