That would be fun Julie, count me in!

I'll send you an invitation Carla!

Oh no, Julie....that sounds awful! Is it a random thing, where you never know where or when an outbreak will occur? I hope the new doctor in Arizona will be able to shed some light on this.

It is Patti, very random. I never know when I am going to get an outbreak, or where when it does happen. When it's in the throat it's quite scary as it could close up and block my airway. So I was quite on edge, but it finally did let up and started to go down.

today . ...totally amazed .. . .White Chicken Chili w/ ZERO forbidden ingredients!!!!!

SWEET!!!!! Don't you love it when that happens, finding a recipe that has all safe ingredients in it?!?! :D

But, Susie does have a point about the aftermath of White Chicken Chili, beware of the gas bomb bloat

Is it weird of me to give the figurine to her? I know it's worth sort of a lot so maybe that makes it kinda weird. I don't want to make her feel awkward or anything. I would give it to her in private, not in front of all of the party people. I keep going back and forth. Would it feel strange to you if someone gave you a gift like this given the situation? I'm so scared that it's going to come across as creepy.

So I am a little late in weighing in on this, but I agree with everyone else. I think it's a lovely gesture, very meaningful and from the heart, and not weird or creepy at all.

Popping in to tell you all that I spent the day at one of the least likely places a Celiac would go to.

An all day beer fest!

YAY Laura, glad you had a fun day!!!! Quite the brave celiac :lol:

I saw the most heinous, vile display this morning on the Today Show.....a woman was standing in the crowd, holding a little dog in her arms, partially covered with a blanket. She was telling the host how the poor dog has only one eye, is missing a leg and has skin cancer. She went on to say that the vets have given him about 9 months. :(

Here's the part that made me turn off the TV in disgust.....this woman is carting this poor creature around, entering him in The Ugliest Dog in America contest. <_<<_<<_<

This is just heinous and in such poor taste. I see by the link Emily posted he won :o

Got home late Friday and by Saturday afternoon my arm was in flames and had to have PICC line immediately removed. It was a relief as I was ready to do it myself. Arm was so itchy and yucky. It's much better today but I expect after all this excitement, I will sleep for days.

Hi Bev!!!!! Been wondering where you've been. I'm so sorry about the picc line :(

((((HUGS)))) , hope you get some rest!

more later. Movie time coming up, sitting on our respective couches in the cool, darkened room. Going to make Kissey barbecue tonight, I am not lifting a finger. :)

Movie Time!!!!!!!!

What ya watching tonight??

Llama Lady, is that you?? I am confoozled about Terri Hatcher

Emily, so sorry about Sophie getting car sick , I hope she is feeling better :) What are you and jack going to do while holding down the fort?? Finding other uses for hockey pads I suppose is on the list. I am thinking you can put them on as elbow pads and in your next marathon take out the competition??

Yes, Laura's "DD" stumped me for a few minutes as well, but then I got it. We could just add a "cicle" to it because that is alwyas funny, am I right Sarah??

Patti, Design Star is on tonight!!

Tis a great time at the driving range....then we went to Chili's....and I believe we were sickened by food there, 4 of us out of 6 are stomach ill with the "D" and vomiting and such. For me it feel much different and much worse than when glutened....I feel terrible!

The worst part was it hit while I was in Wegmans buying my groceries...I could not get out of there fast enough....It was a close call...

So now Landen is in his walker, I feel a little better just made dinner and I am going to take it easy....

OMGawd! It's on in a half hour :o Thanks for reminding me--it's been such a busy day, I lost track of the time :P

Feel better Amanda :)

Amanda- POOPY COW!!!! You and Nikki are both down with an evil bug- hope you both feel better soon......

it looks as though I must go back- Julie is going to AZ, Sophia got sick and Alex is deciding on a gift.....

Don't have regret, you might make just as much progress on orals as you did IV. :)

Thanks Carla, I needed that :)

 Pseuzee .. .I had no idea at first on the DD, but cup size??? THAT never came to mind.

Did I hear right that it was up to 110 in Phrez????

WHAT? Laura had DD cups for a day?

You can do that just for a day?? Do they look real? Or do you have to be not drinking beer at the time? Or with people who ARE drinking beer?

Bev! I'm so sorry about this horrid picc line nightmare for you. But we must listen to Carla....she knows her stuff, and you will likely improve in leaps and bounds on the abx. :):) Now, you've just gotten back from NYC....any chance you can flit over to Philly to meet us the afternoon of July10th? Please say you can! How awesome that would be........

Julie... ..I cannot begin to imagine the fear that must encompass you when a throat angiedema flares up. How horrific.....thank goodness you're okay. :)

Amanda! You and Sophie, the barfers.....hope this passes quickly! Sophie is fine now. She and her buddies are on my brother's computer, mapping out their plan of attack once they scale the walls of the Grand Eaton Centre. Three fifteen-year old girls skipping down Yonge street - -ah, to be young again!

Yes, now........who IS that gorgeous Aussie woman? Is it our Llama lady? If I did not know better, I'd suspect that it is our Susie - - ya know, dingos = Australia, jewellery-making.....Susie! Is it YOU??

This is SO nice, Alex! :)

Man, I guess I should be treating my dad more like this....putting him beside the fireplace, cooking really healthy meals for him, letting the neighboUrs in to visit more....

...After all, he is about 15 in dog years.......

 Making sure his favoUrite toys are near his bed is another good thing we found! Also hip massages and tummy scratches if you can manage that. And don't forget the frequent kisses on the snout!

Ryan and I went looking around some used car lots today. We have one safe newer car and one beat up '89 Toyota Corolla. So we have decided to start looking for another car to replace the '89. If money were no object we'd probably go for one of the 2004 Toyota Echos we saw but used Toyotas are just so dang expensive compared to other cars. (edit: actually if money was no object we'd be heading down to the Lexus dealership!). So it will most likely be an American car -- we saw some well priced Ford Focus Sedans (we're not hatchback people). When I told my dad about which cars we were thinking about he immediately went online to start looking up their safety reports! It's such a dad thing to do! :P

Janet.............My wildlife ecologist son called this evening, so I asked him about your frog dilemma. This is what he said........

Most likely your frogs are not wandering off. They probably have been falling prey to herons, raccoons, dogs, cats, etc. It would be a good idea to plant some tall grasses along the pond to give them some protection. It is also possible that the water quality is not favorable, especially if there is no circulation. If that's the case, adding water plants will improve the quality of the water.

Mornin, Sillies!

Do NOT see Amanda OR Nikki on, yet......it's rare that I find myself alone in the early morning. Feels.......lonely.. . ..rather like I am talking to myself, which I do regularly throughout my day as it is..... <_<

That is such a "dad" thing :D Whenever I mention we are in the market for something like an appliance, my dad goes into his library of Consumer Reports. I once called him from Lowes when we were comparing washer/dryers :P

Hello Everyone!!! Today's the big day!! Zoning Board meets tonight. All weekend has been spent getting ready for tonight's presentation (I'm mostly moral support and proofreader). Hubby is going to the Zoning Board and I'm headed to the School Board meeting!!! Lot's of fun tonight !!!zzzZZZ!!!

Can't be bothered with the quoting, I'm too far behind . . . I've read everything, just late on comments.

To the Barfers . . . STOP!! . . . Oh Wait, I think you have . . . GOOD!!!

Julie . . . OMG!!! On the throat swelling thing!!! Glad that seems to be behind you. I'm going to go google so I can understand what that is.

Alex . . . What a lovely gesture . . . I would be cryin' my eyes out . . . as either the giver OR the receiver.

Bev . . . I'm sure it feels good to have the pic line out. My fingers are crossed that the oral meds kick some lymie a$$.

Nikki . . . :lol::lol: . . . nice job taking a phrase out of context!!!

Lisa . . . yes, I've started wondering about the raccoons myself. I'm sure it's not cats or dogs. Could be a heron. In the five years we've been here, we've seen one twice, so how many times did he come when we didn't see him. The other frogs we had were leopard frogs and tended to come out more at night. Now we have a bull frog and she (I looked it up and figured out it was a she) seems to be out during the day and hidden away at night. Water quality should be OK, we have goldfish too (with no problems),and there is a small waterfall, too. Lots of nooks and crannies in the surrounding rock to hide in, some lillypads and reeds in the water and some perennials planted around the outside (some tall, some not). Also the deck overlooks the pond so there is access to the underneath of the deck (probably where the raccoon is hanging out though). I have seen raccoon paw prints on our deck. The kids have named the frog Ripples. We have been digging up worms and tossing them onto lillypads and then she goes and gets them. It's been a lot of fun for the kids. She doesn't duck away as soon as we walk up which is nice (might not be good for her though, huh).

And to all the other sillies . . . howdy.

nikki-uk Enthusiast

Howdy back Gian-knit..... ...how dare you have a life!!!!!!!

Janet--Good luck tonight! Hope it all goes smoothly. :)

My pond sounds a lot like yours :D I'd say either one should be a frog's delight :P Our little one is still hanging around--although we live out in the country and there are plenty of critters around.

Nik--glad yer appetite is back! Whinge--I love that! Much phunnier to say than whine ;) I'm adopting it from now on.

Gawd Amanda, and with you still feeling under the weather :( Hope it won't be too taxing for you today.

Janet!! I want yer pond! It sounds like a bit of heaven. :)

Speaking of backyards and water, I think we're going to go ahead and have a hot tub put in....rather $$$, but DH and I are now entrenched in our forties, with muscles and tendons that just don't shake off long runs like they used to. So, I'm justifying this as a health expense. Think it's out of our budget right now, but hopefully by winter.....

Gad. I guess I have to hope that there are NO frogs in our yard - - a rather heinous death for one of these little cold-blooded creatures, hopping into 100 degree water... . .. :o

Not sure what you mean by "soy being like gluten". Soy does not cause a celiac reaction. However, soy is one of the foods that many celiacs don't tolerate well for other reasons. Eggs, corn and dairy are also on that list of foods that many of those with celiac disease seem to be sensitive to. But that doesn't mean that all celiacs are sensitive to any one of them or all of them. It just means it's common. You may not have a problem with soy at all. Celiac disease is not a food allergy. It is an autoimmune response to the ingestion of gluten that creates inflammation in the small bowel lining that, over time, damages that lining.

Hey all  Has anyone on here experienced any of the following on their basic metabolic panel results ? This is what mine is currently flagging : - low sodium  - nearly too low potassium - nearly too low chloride - high CO2  - low anion gap  This is now after being nearly gluten-free for over a year (although I admit I make mistakes sometimes and pay dearly for it). My TtG went down to undetectable. I was so sensitive to so many foods I am now avoiding meat dairy and don’t eat a lot of cooked food in general (raw veggies, white rice, avocados and boiled eggs are my usual go-to meal that doesn’t make me sick). But my abdomen still hurts, i have a range of other symptoms too (headaches that last for days before letting up, fatigue, joint pain, bladder pain). Anyway im hoping my urologist (that’s now the latest specialist I’ve seen on account of the bladder pain and cloudy urine after eating certain foods) will help me with this since he ordered this metabolic panel. But I’m bouncing around a lot between specialists and still not sure what’s wrong. Also went back to the GI doctor and she thought maybe the celiac is just not healed or I have something else going on in the colon and I should have that looked at too. I’m still anemic too BTW. And I’m taking sooo may vitamins daily.

I know I haven't been tested but self diagnosed that by avoiding gluten the past 7 months I feel so much better. I have followed how to eat and avoid gluten and have been good about hidden gluten in products, how to prep gluten-free and flours to use to bake gluten-free and have been very successful. It has been a learning curve but once you get the hang of it and more aware you realize how many places are gluten-free and contamination free practices etc. One thing I have read is how soy is like gluten. How would one know if soy affects you? I have eaten gluten free hershey reeses that say gluten free etc some other snacks say gluten free but contain soy and I dont get sick or soy yogurt no issues. Is there adifference in soys?

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.
