Mygawd.....ten thousand posts! Carla, how do you do it? A busy working life, six kids, fantastic marriage, and ten thousand posts! Gawd...I'd be divorced, fat, fired, Children's Aid would be visiting......:lol:

Well, because when I was sick and stuck in bed, I had nothing better to do than post, post, post!   Are you kidding? My KIDS do all the work around here!! ;)

I don't work. I try to work for hubby, but backslid a few months ago, and now that school is out I haven't gone back now that I'm doing better again. I'll go back to part time in the fall.

Carla, I have met very few people who are willing to live what they believe, rather than tell people what they (profess) to believe. Those that I have met have been from very different religions, but all of them have been people that are sincere, and deserving of respect in a way that could never be earned, only gifted.

You are quietly amazing, and hope that you are aware of that.

:blushingicon: B) Thank you.

Arrrrrggghhh. There has been a big, disapppointing communication gap between the baseball coach and us - - it would seem that the final, gold medal game is NEXT Saturday morning. We will be in the States, and Jack will miss it. :(

Jack's face when we discovered this: :o

Then this:

And now: :(:(:(:( (the four of us - - even his sister.....!)

That is very disappointing! Maybe a big storm system will hover over Ottawa while you're gone and the big game will have to be postponed until you guys are back. Hopefully he can at least be back for the requisite end of the season team party.

Alex, you do a wonderful job of telling us what this woman has meant to you. I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job in person, too . . . and yeah, a glass or two of wine might help in person, too

 Hopefully I am handed a glass of wine upon entering the house! Or perhaps I should do a little predrinking before going ;). A little social lubricant is good thing sometimes!

I have to confess . . . when I first came on this thread and was telling a friend of mine about it, I was telling them about Susie/DingoGirl . . . lives in California, but "Dingo" screen name and seems to have an "Aussie" accent . . . I thought she was a transplant from Australia . . .:lol::lol:

Janet, I was right there with ya....in fact, when Susie was first on here and her place of residence wasn't posted, I thought she was an Aussie, posting from Down Undah. She had an avatar posted of her on a cliff face, and I kept thinking, "What an amazing climbing Woman. I wonder if that's Ayers Rock?"

At first I was afraid I was petrified

Kept thinking I could never live without bread by my side

But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong

And I grew strong

And I learned how to get along

And a crumb came back

From outer space

I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon its face

I should have changed that stupid lock

I should have made you leave the key

If I'd have known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

Go on now

Go walk out the door

Just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore

Wasn't it the one who tried to hurt me with it's pain

Did you think I'd crumble

Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no not I

I will survive

Oh as long as i don't have gluten I know I'll stay alive

I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give, and I'll survive

I will survive

Hey hey

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart

Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart

And I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for my self

I used to cry

Now I hold my head up high

And you see me

Somebody new

I'm not that chained up little person still in love with bread

And so you felt like dropping in

and just expect my bowels to be fried

Well now I'm saving all my loving for a gluten free pie

Go on now

Go walk out that door,

Just turn around now

'Cause you're not welcome anymore

Wasn't you the one who tried to break me with good pie

Did you think I'd crumble

Did you think I'd lay down and die

Oh no not I

I will survive

Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive

I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give, and I'll survive

I will survive

Okay, my post count is 1,353 (not counting this one) so what reason would there be for the heinous phluid ugliness I just experienced?

The hot water tap in the bathroom sink has been acting up. Everything else except the laundry room is washerless, but this one is still old fashioned. So, I'm thinking the washer needs to replaced, again.

This should be a straightforward task, but the old washer has partially disintegrated, and tiny bits of it are fouling the aerator screen, so that has to be removed and cleaned. Then run the water with the screen removed to clear out any remaining crud before reinstalling the aerator. This is the moment when I realize the the sink is filling up quickly, even though the stopper is not in the drain.

We have discussed some ugly stuff on this board, but what came back up when I used the plunger was simply vile. What should have been a brief fix took three quarters of an hour and involved disgusting slime.

Well, it is all over now (I hope).

Like Llama Lady, I have survived.

Well I'll be damned

Here comes your toast again

But that's not unusual

It's just that the moon is full

And you happened to call

And here I sit

Hand on the toiletpaper

Hearing a sound I'd known

A couple of minutes ago

Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your crust

Was browner than chicken legs

My poetry was lousy you said

Where are you calling from?

A toilet booth in the midwest

Ten years ago

I bought you some muffins

You brought me something

We both know what gluten can bring

it brings pain and discomfort

Well you burst on the scene

Already a legend

The uneaten phenomenon

The original whole wheat loaf

You strayed into my mouth

And there you stayed

Temporarily lost with tea

The Madonna was yours for free

Yes the taco was a half-shell

and Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing

With whole wheat falling around

And flour in your receipe

Now you're smiling out the window

Of that crummy grocery store

Over Washington Square

Our breath comes out white clouds

Mingles and hangs in the air

Speaking strictly for me

We both could have died then and there

Now you're telling me

You're not nostalgic

Then give me another word for it

You who are so good with words

And at keeping things vague

Because I need some of that vagueness now

It's all come back too clearly

Yes I loved you dearly

And if you're offering me doughnuts and cake

I've already paid

Hello Sillies,

Got a question here. Need your collective wisdom.

Some of you may remember the wedding, two years ago, for my daughter. Yeah, well.....not such a good idea. AND, I KNEW THAT AT THE TIME!!!!! <_<

Can you get engaged to one man, while you're awaiting your divorce from another.

Needless to say, it's been very interesting around here. Got one of those boomerang kids.

So what do you think?

I've been wondering how things were going, Lisa. To answer your question, I would say 'sure'.....the heart wants what it wants. I'm glad to hear that your daughter has found someone who will make her happy, and sorry for what she's gone through.

A very similar situation happened in my family, and the second marriage is in it's second decade. ;)

Now, as to the 5,000 post rollover.....watch for phluids-- bodily, household and from nature. For pholks who post here, the big numbers seem to coinside with some sort of a liquid onslaught.

Be aware, Lisa, be very aware....we don't want things to get any more "interesting" over there

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
