Hmmmmm .. .. Soooozie's got a Holy Meeting. The details will be fascinating for me to hear. Sooooze, we pondered early on in this thread whether or not Jesus was in fact celiac. . . . ..I suggest positing this as an introductory question. Should get the ball rolling - - ask if there is specific scripture that mentions him feeling bloated, tired or crampy during the Last Supper, and the whole immense irony that could exist in the "bread is the staff of life" thing. . . . . . ...

I just KNOW this will be a subject that will have them talking.

Um. . .. or perhaps not. Maybe they would sit, silent and staring. . . . . .....

GAH!!!!!!!!!!! x 500

Rushed home for 4pm today as the foreman (of builders) had an appt to inspect the fan and fire alarms.

This appt has been cancelled so many times it's ridiculous ........ at 4.15pm they ring to say they can't make it, is Tuesday between 8am-6pm ok??????

Whoa!. .. . . :):) Just checked the front door for the mail, and found a SLEW of Psilly Christmas cards!! WONDERFUL!!! Amanda, Janet, Lisa B and Patti......I got POeter and Jacquie's card a couple of weeks ago. They sit proudly on my "card" table in our living room. Jack picked up the beautiful pic of Smack and Skeeter and said, "Well, this is not quite as weird as Mom displaying all the frame model people.....at least these guys aren't complete strangers". . . ....

Great letter, Janet!

So i don't eat for 4 or 5 hrs after waking, and i'm not hungry until around then anyhoo.

Working fewer hrs won't do. :( Rents are too high 'round here.

I HAVE been considering trying melatonin to see if i can sleep sooner after work.

And i've REALLY gotta get better at making dinner easier on work days.

Morning Sillies--

Tis another ugly weather day here. It is a cold rain today and even though it was mixed with ice and stuff and that is closer to snow.....but it still isn't the white fluffy stuff!

So it will be another day of partying and trying to get work done...hopefully it works out but I doubt it. We will be getting our tree tonight and hopefully decorating it.

Talk to you all later sillies!

Mornin' Gang!

Hmmmm....got a call from me mom. . . . my dad's not too well. I'm taking him into the hospital this morning. Don't have many details, but it is apparently "not an emergency". We''ll see. . . .. ...

Ptaoughmghmn! Have you tried melatonin before? It has worked very well for me - - . . no side effects, takes effect quickly. . . .. anddyes, eating is somewhat important, as well . . .. . . . . <_<

Emily - hope everything goes well fer yer pop.

flourgirl Apprentice

Em, do hope your Dad's ok. Scary when it comes to parents health.

Tawwwm....sorry to hear you are having troubles. I can identify and sympathize. I don't sleep well, either. Food is still a major issue....I eat a small lunch, and use the crockpot a lot for dinners. Always make enough for leftovers, often freezing stuff for quick fixes later.

I tried Melatonin, too. It does help to get to sleep, but I still wake many times at night. I found that I get major nasty headaches from it...don't know why. So I stopped using it. I go to sleep readily enough still....it's staying asleep that's a problem.

Hope you can find your way to a happier, better time. <:munchkin voice:> Follow the yellow brick road

Emily, I hope everything is ok with your Dad.

Tom, I hate to hear you are down :( I make ahead and freeze a lot of what I eat for dinners, otherwise it is too overwhelming to cook every night, dunno if this would be anoption for you?

I do the same thing--when I make something, I try and make more than we can eat in a meal and take the leftovers and freeze in individual portions for me when I need it. Comes in handy when the guys get pizza <_< , at least I don't have to cook that night

I'm thinking about you too, Pataughmn :)

Well, didn't have to take Dad in - -he is better...... . .but some strange, abdominal pain that comes and goes, so he will have to see his doctor, hopefully Monday. There's a history of kidney AND gall stones (and undiagnosed celiac, I am certain), so for now, he's resting on Tylenol. Things are okay right now. :) Thanks so much for the words of concern!

I freeze a LOT of extra meals, too. DH takes leftovers to work, as do the kids to school, so you can imagine the size of the lasagna pans/casserole dishes/roasts/crock pots I fill!! Have you got a decent-sized freezer, Ptaoughmghmnuss?

Darn210 Enthusiast
Have you got a decent-sized freezer?

NO!!!! But I'm planning on getting one within the next year. We have our freezer that is part of our fridge and then we have the freezer that is part of our (older and smaller) "drink and big meal overflow" fridge that is in our garage. However, in the winter when we have really cold snaps and the garage temp stays below freezing for a couple of days, the freezer thermostat doesn't work and stuff starts to thaw . . . so in the winter, I'm stuck wif just the one freezer. I bought a breast chest freezer last year and when I got it home and took off all the packaging, it appeared to have been dropped (on it's motor) at some time. I took it back - it was the last one they had - they offered me a 10% discount to keep it . . . . . . riigggghhhhhttttt . . . dropped on it's motor . . . I'm sure it's fine . . . :majorsacasm:

Em-hope you get some answers on Monday.

Just a quick fly-by to say that it is snowing big time here in Toronto, with about 8 inches expected in all. It started after the morning commute, but has been coming down steadily since. It looks like there is at least 6 inches so far. The parking lot has been shoveled three times, and needs it again.

Darn210 Enthusiast

Just got off the phone wif me good buddy who lives out by Bev . . . she says they're suppose to get about a foot . . . Are you all stocked up Bev??

We're warm at the moment and drizzly most of the day . . . looking forward to ice (NOT) again over the weekend.

Peter, why don't you see if Em will send Jack over . . . he's got shovelin' to make up.

elye Community Regular

YES!! The Ripper's on his way, POeter! Gad, I hope you don't lose your parking spaces like last year. . . . . ..

We've gotten about two inches of barph, with another couple of centimetres due overnight. The big dump is coming Sunday. . . . .. perhaps a foot.

Symptoms that get worse if you don't supplement is a sign of malabsorption, possibly due to Celiac disease. Blood tests for nutritional deficiencies are not very accurate, and should be done when you have been off of supplements for eight to twelve weeks, otherwise the vitamin supplements you've taken will be measured.  The blood circulation system is a transportation system.  It transports the vitamins you've absorbed around the body, but blood tests don't give an accurate picture of the vitamin and mineral stores inside organs and tissues where they are actually used.  You can have "normal" blood levels but still have deficiencies.  This is because the brain demands stored nutrients be put into the blood stream to supply important organs, like the brain and heart, while other organs do without.   If you are taking Thiamine Mononitrate in your supplements, you are probably low in thiamine.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many supplements because it won't break down sitting on a shelf.  This also means Thiamine Mononitrate is difficult for the body to utilize.  Only thirty percent of Thiamine Mononitrate on the label is absorbed and even less is able to be utilized by the body.  A different form of Thiamine called Benfotiamine has been shown to promote intestinal healing.   Talk to your doctor about doing a genetic test to look for Celiac markers.   I'm concerned that if you do a gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum off two weeks) in your weakened state, the nutritional deficiencies will become worse and possibly life threatening.

Hello, good afternoon!   I apologize, I didn’t see a notification and I’m just reading this. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and the link. Yes you are absolutely right, even so trying to get a response from them has been extremely difficult. They don’t answer but I will your practice of “guilty until proven innocent.”   I like and have a sense of trust here in this website, everyone is honest and thoughts are raw. The mutual understanding is amazing!   thank you Scott!

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.
