sillies - - I had this startling thought about how much more I"d actually get done in life if I had no computer

:o

Yes do agree-- you know how much more productive I would be at work

I have a new poem for all you working folk:

'I cannot go to work today, '

Said Jestgar, Em and blueeyemanada-may.

'The Twas won't clean my house ,

And my kitties left a big bad mouse.

Plus my head it hurts, my throat is dry,

A margarita would be better, sigh.

My husband had gall-bladder rocks,

My cats are high and the ferries won't dock.

And there's one more reason-that's almost nine,

And don't you think a mental health day would be just phine?

Jess's leg is cut-Amanda's eyes are blue-

And Susie has absinthian flu.

Poor Leesa needs tosleep and dream,

And Jianknit's ankle-biters make her want to scream.

I'm sure I missed you other working folk (Pieter, Susie not to mention all you MOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I'll get ya next time. I need to start writing more anyway- you know cause it'll help me when I teach :P :P

LOL!!!! love it!!!

Congrats Amanda!!! (and to yer sister, too)

JoDog's out of surgery . . . she gets to come home tomorrow . . . poor girl :( The worst part is that she has to be confined or on lead for the next six weeks!!! They told me that when I picked her up tomorrow, I would have the option of picking up a sedative (doggie valium?) to keep her from getting overly excited. I told them that I don't need to think about it, I definitely wanted it!!!

poor Jo-Dog!!!!!!! :(

It's just TOO awful when pets have surgery - I hate it!! Yes - plenty of drugs, jhanit.....

I went looking at my posts yesterday . . . thought I reported it but apparently not . . .

We had a "circle of life" moment yesterday. A Coopers Hawk was eating sumptin atop the kids swingset. Smackl wanted to go out to be able to see better. I told him he couldn't. I didn't want him to scare it away . . . I didn't want to have to clean up anymore body parts than I had too :greenguyemoticon:

So I'm sure you all wanted to know . . . It was a squirrel. I just found the head (which was all I was expecting to find). Jess, I'm sure you're use to this sort of thing all the time. Shall I mail it out to yer kittehs so they can play football soccer wif it??

Jyah-gnutt! A squirrel's head.. . ......barfarama. ...!! I meant to comment on poor li'l Josie. This is so stressful, a sick pet that you must keep confined, must be always watching over.......she needs good drugs, and you do, as well .. . . ..

Do you think she's in any shape to enjoy that squirrel's head? Gads, if she's on a strong, mind-altering tranq, she'll freak right out if she catches sight of it...."AAAuuuugggghhhh.........!!! Squirrel head....noooooooo body attached. ... !!...."

She is spending the night at the vet's . . . as planned . . . so I'm sure she's hating it. Surgery went well. Talked to the Doc and then later, talked to the Tech . . . both reiterating how important it is to keep her from running wild (which she is so good at) for the next six weeks.

So . . . I was doing a little mathS . . . if I weigh four times as much as Josie, then I just take four times her dose of her "chill out" meds . . . right? . . . The Tech also commented (based on Jo's behavioUr today) that I was probably going to need the sedatives . . . . . . Duuuuuhhhhhh . . . <_<

Started a new book tonight. It reminds me of this thread but I've only read a few pages. I'll read a bit more and then fill you in.

Cute niece you got, Amanda.

Oh . . . sorry Jess . . . Susie's called dibs on the squirrel head. Guess you'll have to wait until next time.

Morning All

John's got his f/u appt with the surgeon today. He is getting all his stitches out and hopefully will be a lot better. I am leaving work at 12 to go get him and then come all the way back here. Hopefully today we will get a better idea of when he can go back to work.

Tomorrow we are heading home to see the new baby.

The weather here is beautiful I am rocking my new capris and my sandals today!

Glad to hear John's better, Ahmanduh....getting the stitches out will be a relief, I'm sure.. . . ...

<_< Rockin' my old rain jacket and sneakers trainers.

I just ran to the grocery store in me capri's and Birk's--so warm and humid <_< . I wanted to beat the storm that is headed this way. It's slow-moving, thus is supposed to bring us (possibly) several inches of rain. There's been lots of lightening wif it, too.

Amanda--I'm so glad youse guys up there are having a stretch of nice weather! I know Matt has been itching to get working outside on his yard. Good news about John!

Gawd....it's getting dark......

ummmm . . . or frogs??

I pick up JoDog in about 3 hours. (Em, twas knee surgery to keep her knee-cap from popping out of place) Headed out to Target to go get a baby gate . . . we're going to try and confine her to the office/computer/sparebedroom room (Yep, that's all just one room). She won't be able to see squirrels scampering in the back yard or neighborhood dogs going on walks out front . . . two things that just drive her mad. Plus, someone is almost always on the computer so she'll have lots of company.

Susie, I'll trade you my squirrel's head for some muskal relaxents . . . stiff neck today from hanus landscape removal projects yesterday . . . and twas only the tip of the grassy-weed-you-call-this-ground-cover? removal project.

Hello Miss Cate . . . you need to come back and visit. Emily is obviously on her best behavioUr . . . hurry back 'cause it won't last long

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
