Happy Friday Sills!

I must say I think Olympia Dukakis has become the new Chuck Norris. She's all over the place, hears all sees all knows all does all.

:lol::lol:

Patti, I am so sorry to hear about Allo. I feel like your loss is our loss, with all the stories you have shared over the last few years and the avatar pictures he was very much a part of our Silly family.

I know you will miss him so much and cherish all the wonderful memories you have of him

What did you think of the Lost final? And I also saw that new show from the Lost crators being promoted, looks really good!

Sarah  So good to see a poop in from you!! I think of you often and hope you and the boys are well :)

Jess (((((HUGS)))))

Sorry about all the stress at work. The quote Patti shared is one of my favorites also, about the door closing and a window opening.

I hope you can get it all sorted out and find yourself in a better happier place, you so deserve it!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hee!

So good to see you here, Julie!! :D Thank you for the kind words about Allo. He was a good little guy.

I enjoyed the finale--of course it raised more questions than it answered.....but then that's Lost. Do you believe next season is the last?

Work has been stressful for a while. Had a bit of a breakdown. Cried for hours. but, of course, since no one was in the lab working but me, it was quite private. May have quit. Sent an ambiguously worded email to the boss (who is again out of town) that I just couldn't do it. Not really sure what I will do. Can't really afford to quit, but don't know how to make myself go back.

I just don't know.

aww Jeoss :( hugs to you, my friend. The heinosity of a stressful job is just - untenable. I know we all hope that summat better shows up for you soon.....

Signs It's time to Leave a Taxi

-Driver asking you for directions

-Strong odor

-Taxi filling with smoke, flames

-Taxi going 50+ miles above speed limit, up on two wheels

-Banging, cries for help coming from trunk

-Driver texting

-Driver vomiting

-Driver drinking out of paper bag

-Driver sobbing, expressing loss of will to carry on

*snort* all of these cracked me up!!!!

STOOOOPID adversity part, fo sho!! Like Olympia Dukakis at my dad's bedside, moving all the foodstuffs around on his tray so that he, legally blind, cannot find his juice...........er sumphin'... .. .. .... . ..

Sills as I'm reading this, suddenly it occurs to me - I wonder how many celebrities have been mentioned on our nearly three-year-old wackl thread

Gawd......the parades alone!!! we had tons

Olympia as the new Chuck Norris!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jools!

Peter--

Before I forget. ABC ran a promo for "Flash Forward" last night during the "Grey's Anatony" finale. They seem to be promoting it quite a bit!

:o:o

OMG - Had not read the article until yesterday - did NOT know it was goign to be a series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW!!! this is so exciting!!!!!!!!!

Um - is it going to be as confusing as "Lost"

I watched most of the season finale of Grey's last nigh - am not a regular watcher any more - are Izzy and George really leaving? dead? what???

We don't know! It was left as a cliffhanger--it could go either way for one or both of them. My personal opinion is that Izzy survives and George does not. Guess it all depends on their contract negotiations :P

Home. Eating chocolate chip mint ice cream. Called a friend that I just heard got laid off and talked her into going out for margaritas this afternoon. (It wasn't that hard of a sell.) After I've gotten all sugared up I plan to tackle some of the things that you can't get to when you get home at 9pm, like...dishes....and....giant balls of floating catfur.

Wish me luck- I'm testing coffee, it's been probly a 1/2 to a whole year by now. My boyfriend pestered me off daily coffee, quit for a while, thereafter I couldn't have none, not even decaf. So I needed a boost n I'm gonna be home all day, why not try? I put milk and Irish creme flavoring in it..... Mmmmmmmm...... coffeee......

Gess- this helps me when I'm royally enervated by coworkers- Ever have one of those dreams where you're naked in school and everyone's laughing? Picture them like that. Only works when you're home, alone, quiet, with free time to sit and make up movies in your head. But it works good.

SILLIES!!!!! remember when I took that marvelous tumble into the rose bush? I can't recall if it was last weekend or the weekend before? when in hell was it?

well anywho......the ball of my foot kept hurting, but I just ignored it - figgered it was residual pain from the rose thorn punctures.

So - um - last night, I investigated - and pulled out about a quarter-inch thorn with tweezers.

'twas VERY satisfying

All right, I need help from you hilarious, creative, in-the-know peeps. My nephew has sent us an invitation to his wife's birthday party -- he's having a "Trailer Trash Bash"....

"Ties and formal wear prohibited. No shoes, no shirt, no problem. Friends from the trailer park are welcome, as are mullets and sweat pants".

So.....what in hell do I wear as a trailer park chick?? DH will be easy -- I can picture the redneck guy no trouble. . .......I've googled "trailer park clothes" and just got pics of men. Big hair? Daisy Duke-type stuff? (As if. .......maybe fifteen years ago. ....)

Emmel! how fabulous!! Um....just come to Clovis. We have lots of those kinds of men here. <_<

I strongly suggest your husband cuts the sleeves off his t-shirt. A very popular fashion item here in Clovis, as mentioned on me facebook a while back. He also should insert a pillow in his stomach to emulate the beer belly.

see Heidi and Seal's recent wedding vow renewal:

as for you, you need to wear TONS of garish makeup, and get some kind of wig to make your hair really, really big and 80's-like. do that thing with the bangs called - was it "mall bangs" ?

where they stand straight up?

I'll ponder yer outfit later. Maybe I"ll just drive around town and take some photos.

but not quite as bad as listening to people's VERY VERY LOUD and DETAILED cell phone conversations in stores and such :angry::angry:

You can also just wear some really, really ratty old stained robe and sloppy slippers......rollers in yer hair.....maybe blacken your eye with a bruise or summat

Another reason to get out of a taxi (or a hitchhiking ride with a driver that doesn't speak English):

When you realize he is taking you in exactly the opposite direction from where you asked to go! (And no, it isn't a short cut :o ) I have done this at a traffic light, (at a busy intersection!!) -- once for each!

Jess, I am so sorry that you find yourself in such a negative situation; when you find yourself crying at work (or thinking about going to work) it is definitely time to get out. Greener pastures await--I hope you find that open window soon and just fly right on in and make yerselph at home.

"sometimes ya gotta go by way of Chicago". B)

Er, izzit all right if I go by way of Sydney (or Phuket)? And NOO!!, it isn't pronounced that way, its Pooh-Ket :D

Um - is it going to be as confusing as "Lost"

Not familiar with this "Lost"; is it as confoosing as "The Prisoner" used to be? We bought the video set of the series so we could watch it all again and try and figure out -- What does it all MEAN???

Only works when you're home, alone, quiet, with free time to sit and make up movies in your head.

I like the movies in the head idea, would like to do that, except mine come out as novels--so damnably verbal is Il it's always narrative and not exciting pics of things like those stripped firemen in the bush--can't get them outta my mind  Good luck with the coffee, BunBun.

Well, they have doubled my dose of antibiotics for the weekend and are threatening me with IV next week if the celllulitis doesn't get any better, so send any spare good wishes (after you're done with Jess, of course) this way. You try to fix a leak and you break the damned pipe :(

And then I finally got an x-ray of my back this week because the problem is not going away, and I find out I have a wedge compression fracture at T11 -- well, dang, no wonder I's been having trouble wivvit for a year, ever since I had a run-in with my frickin' front door (don't ask, looong story, but the door space is currently boarded up and the doors are being re-engineered to open outwards. Boarded up front door--confooses heck out of the guests when you invite them over, except when I remember to leave a note with little arrows directing to other doors.. And then the report talks about the osteoporosis in spite of all the D3 and calcium :( so guess I need another DEXA scan. Looks like another fun summer coming up; hope those doctors keep their offices well conditioned in Reno. You all think we come over for this lazy holiday in the sun by the lake when actually we spend our time in surgery, physical therapy, whatever....HA!!

Have a good weekend all. Me, I am going to a gluten free food expo today; hope they have lots of samples!!

Ooh Emily, a White Trash Party. These seem to be all the rage. Several friends of mine have thrown one over the last year.

Think teased hair, fake fingernails, maybe Peggy Bundy from Married With Children, OR wear a muu muu (sp?) and house slippers with curlers in your hair. The guys all got mullet wigs and put on fake tattoos (i.e. MOM)

Jess, thumbs up on the mint chocloate chip ice cream! That's one of me favorite flavors :D

Bunnie, good luck with the coffee.

Suze, ouch on the thorn. It had been in there this whole time? Kind of like the princess and the pea. It was uncomfortable and not quite right, you knew something might be there, but yet it was so small. Suze and the thorn.

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
