Thinking of our Jessel and how she is doing.

Aww yes the chore of peeing---never fun esp in the situations of wearing a wedding dress where another ones help is needed, Ski clothes wearing you will be dribbling just getting through those layers. and finally in the dorothy get-up cause the heels were so high I feel through the floor not expecting the potty to be so low...... :(:(

Must tell all my medical monitor came to my site today and she brought me a present- gluten free orange cake from Starbucks. I was so excited and it was so good....very moist.

Also went to new building orientation for our new cancer center.....very long 4 hrs....

Waitasec! This is MY fashion disaster shortlist, from the eighties. . ......everything you've listed, I was sporting full-force as a teen.....but you were a little kid in the eighties, n'est-ce pas, Amanda? Or did the fashion horror stories come later fer you down there?:rolleyes:

I was born in 82- so I did sport many of these wonderful rages--I also went through the fad of tying the bottom of your shirt, going crazy wif sequins, limestone jeans, vests, and those wind pants suits....we so named Poof Pants from the noise they made....

then as was a teen here were the fads--the late 90's fads

Hippies came into style again, very baggy pants, the preppy look also started as I was getting out of my teens, but for awhile it was long skirts and jean vests, flare pants, retro t-shirts, flannel shirts

And finally trends the last few years

Baby doll tee's, track pants, those skirts that were so short you could see everything, the same for the shorts, the big bright look came back

Hi Ptaum (((((((((WAVING MADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))))))))))))))!!!!!!

Must be the California accent I guess. We were always taught farsh-ee-ah and the inflammation as farsh-e-I-tus. Definitely not faaash as in maaash. And the way he said the "eye"!!! sounded more like "oi-ee". Mebbe I'm easily amused

Why is this whole Fascist-itis cracking me up. I think I'm picturing Crocodile Dundee leaning over Shroomie's foot going "what you git here is a case of Planter's Fash-EE-Oy-eye-tis."

   I think I always thought it was fa-s$#&e-is (s$#&e as in might not Shiite as in Muslim)

Oh fa-s$#&e's sake............it must hurt.

If you need someone to make yer shoes I hear Daniel Day Lewis is doing it in Italy;) ;) Now THAT would be wort the trip and $$$$$$

MC Hammer pants!!!!!!!!! When I was in high school from 81-85 I wore Fair Isle sweaters with Izods and turtlenecks (the more the better) with corduroys and boat shoes. Then the PAT BENATAR look including plastic dance pants, leg warmers with high heels and a blonde streak in me bi-level hair cut (and a LOT of blue eyeliner  Oh and mini skirts (the nuns HATED it!) and gold jewelry.

Oh how I loved the grunge look........so comfy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I wear yoga pants (comfy) and baby doll t-shirts. Lots of cable cardigans (I love them- no idea why), fleeces, sneakers, flip flops all summer and silver jewelry.........dress up? What's that? :P Actually I do miss dressing up for me job- which by the end dressing up was jeans, boots and a nice sweater (which I keep spelling as sewater). Yeah- I wear sea water????????

Being a very non-fashionista, didn't succumb to much of the horrors of the 80's. but oh, those body suits! You were lucky if the snaps were all that got snapped! And the stirrup pants--always felt like I should be on a gee-gee. But I did also do the dress tucked in thingy and was only mildly snockered; what's worse, no one told me!!

No, not quite Crocodile Dundee. It wouldn't have been quite so funny coming from a REAL man. This was a little twerp puffed up so full of hisselph, with adolescent acne, looking not more than 19, and taking hisselph so pseriously in his amazing pronouncement. So I then proceeded to inform him how I got it, naming all the broken bones in me foot and the torn ligaments, and totally deflated the little Shite so that in the end he was asking what I did in the medical profession. I just told him I was an informed consumer

Well, I pronounces it halfway between, not quite Shiite, and not Shite, but more like shuh-itis. Of course, I is always right :P

Haven't seen a snowy owl or a seal yet but I'm hoping!!!!!!!!! It's an island but you just drive over a bridge. It's where I took pics of the swans at sunset this winter (see new av if it works).

Bev-really...I SO want to be there with you! It looks like my kind of place. Don't know why, but I didn't think that glossy Ibis (or white for that matter) went that far north. I think of them as southern birds. I probably would not want to leave such a place. Some of the pics remind me of Maine....which I miss very much. Was only a 4-5 hour drive from my old home.

HA!!!! *SOME* of us wore the "retro" when they were the new thing!! I had elephant ear bell bottoms with x-tra wide belts...nehru jacket....paisley print.....Yeah, I remember the crotch-snaps and the contortions to get them snapped......I remember paper "throw-away" dresses (very short-lived fad). I didn't own any...but I remember some people who did. Saddle shoes!!! Did anybody else ever have to wear them? We still had dress codes in school until I was into junior high. Ahhhhh the memories come flooding in.... and of course we can't forget tye-dye. Anything that looked the least bit psychodelic was groovey, I guess. :P

Oh well....back to catching up.

Since much of my dad's TV wardrobe is sitting unused in storage at the house,

I would love to wear one of these. I think heads may turn when I enter the church, and our bride would not be amused.

OR: Why not bring the costumes into the hospital, and help my dad get into them, a new one each day?

...Now there's an idea. . . .. .....

He's been in the hospital ever since that first surgery, which was April 23rd. :(

Hence the merit of this wardrobe idea - - nothing would spice up a hideously long hospital stay, for the patient and particularly for the staff, like authentic John Wayne

chaps, holster and stetson or Richard Simmons spandex and reeboks. . . .....

What a great idea to cheer your Dad.

I didn't realize he'd been in so long. tough on everyone i'm sure.

JOODITH!!!!!!!!

your whole post warmed me 'eart.......soooooooo glad you're feeling better, did some traveling, even!!!! And all of this - the log cabin, the uncle, your brother and wife that are fun to stay with, your wonderful friend. And all this time without smoking!!!! such good, positive stuff :)

Thanks Susie........you know i still miss it. stupid as it is.

I love seeing you post as i hadn't read much from you when i was reading and not posting.

hope the nice weather continues for you my friend

Me Psillies- How for art thou? I missed a lot but wanted to poop in and say MEOW (I don't know why meow.....just wanted to say it!)

Jess had a job interview today. :)

Jestgar Rising Star

hi all

completely wiped. Forgot how intense interviews are.

seemed to go well. met everyone in the department. everyone loves working there, except the guy who's leaving. he says it's too repetitive. good to be aware of. might mean it's only for a couple years (which would get us through this economic thing) and then something new.

Jess so happy the invterview went well.

hope it comes through for you

Jshess.....they had you meeting everyone? THAT sounds very positive!!! Am still keeping you in the loop of prayers and sending "good things vibes" your way.

Some time back we mentioned psychic energy....and I told you about street lamps blinking off when I passed under (this really does happen, I swear). I went to the dentist for my cleaning and they wanted to take a (I don't remember what they called it....like a roundhouse x-ray) digital xray of my head. It's a fairly big machine that gets a picture of the total mouth, sinuses, mandible and mandibular joint..... Anyway, it would not work! We tried 3 times! I told the technician that the year before the same thing happened...we kept trying to get an xray but it refused to cooperate. So.....back to the room for the cleaning. The tech told another about the machine.......she comes back and said...there's nothing wrong with it!! Why is it I have this effect on electrical things? Must be my magnetic personality :P

Peaches has taken over our whole lives house. We just adore her and are spoiling her. We really need to find a decent vet who won't require a human sacrifice charge us a mortgage payment for services. Up north we had a vet who specialized in cats only and now I really miss her. She loved her patients so much......we want the best for our little monster precious baby.

Hope all is well in psillyville......no nice to hear from the mia's.

Jyessss! Way to go on that interview! Must feel good to simply have something else brewing on the sidelines.....I'm gunnin' for ya. . . . . ..... :)

Jack's Little League team won their first playoff game last night 7-6. They play Thursday, and then a medal game (hopefully gold!) on Sunday. Jack is no longer staring at bees buzzing by in the outfield, nor humming to himself and doing his math homework calculations in his head while manning second base. He has come a LONG way this season . . .. . ..... :)B)

Morning sillz-

Summer seems to be running behind schedule this year- mid-june and high is 70's....

during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me

@catnapt,  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.   How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them.  Do you pressure cook your beans?  Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking?  Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production.  Do you have anemia?
    • catnapt
oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st   worst 12 days of my life   Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔

Welcome to the forum @Known1, What reaction were you expecting? Pipingrock.com High Potency Vitamin D3, 2000 IU, 250 Quick Release Softgels $6.89 I've have been taking the 10,000 IU for close to 10 years. When I started with vitamin D I worked my way up to 10000 over several weeks.  Even at 8000 I felt no noticeable difference.  Then after a few days at 10000 it hit Whoa, sunshine in a bottle.  celiac disease causes malabsorption of dietary D and you've poor UV access.  It took me from 2015 to 2019 to get my 25(OH)D just to 47 ng/ml.  Another two years to get to 80.  70 to 100 ng/ml seems to be the body's natural upper homeostasis  based on lifeguard studies.  Dr. Holick has observed the average lifeguard population usually has a vitamin D 3 level of around 100 ng/ml. Could it be that our normal range is too low given the fact that ¾ or more of the American population is vitamin D deficient? Your Calcium will increase with the vitamin D so don't supplement calcium unless you really need it.  Monitor with PTH  and 25(OH)D tests. Because of your Marsh 3 damage you need to ingest way more than the RDA of any supplement to undo your specific deficiencies. I believe you are in the goiter belt.  Unless you have reason not to, I recommend pipingrock's Liquid Iodine for price and quality.  The RDA is 150 to 1100 mcg.  In Japan the safe upper level is set at 3000 mcg.  Start with one drop 50 mcg to test for adverse response and build up.  I found 600 mcg (12 drops) a day is helping repair my body.  Iodine is necessary to healing.  90% of daily iodine intake is excreted in urine.  A Urine Iodine Concentration (UIC) can tell how much Iodine you got that day.  The thyroid TSH test will not show iodine deficiency unless it is really bad.

I don't know if I am getting sufficient Omega Threes. I read about  phosphotidyl choline may cause heart issues. I will have o do further research on heathy Omega 3 supplements or from foods. Is there a blood test that can tell you everything level in your system such as Thiamine, Benfotiamine levels etc? Thanks
