Good to see some psillies returning to the fold :D

OMG ... McDonalds Poutine  .....WIH?!?!

Always fascinates me the differences of the menu of Mc D from country to country.

In Turkeh... they have some sort of soup available  of undetermined origin.

That's just reminded me..... we noticed on nearly every restaurant menu in Turk-eh had 'Chicken chops' listed.

Never did find out what it was....but when I popped to Tesco today, Tel asked me to ''pick up some o' those Chicken chops while yer out''

...making me giggle for some reason  imagining asking for 'em....

laURA... I didn't know you lost your kitteh :( ... so sorry x

OK, bracing meselph for the my phirst meeting wiv Sven after 2 weeks and stones of extra weight

..which also reminds me...EM!..how's the phoot???, did you have the dexa scan?

Chicken chops?? What in hell? Are those chicken mouths? Do they even have mouths......beaks?... ..... . .:rolleyes:

..which also reminds me...EM!..how's the phoot???, did you have the dexa scan?

Bah.......had more Xrays done.....it is definitely a stress fracture, likely over an old one that I never knew I had. Too much pounding overuse through the years........too much crazed, maniacal dancing with POeter on those terrazzo dancefloors. . . . ... .... :PB)

I am not back to running as yet. I continue to swim (despise this), bike (dislike this) and climb onto the trusted ol' elliptical machine.

It is very slowly getting better. .. . .....thanks fer askin', Nik!

OMG, THE DANCING!!!!! I gafawed out loud, I'm TOTALLY making one of those :lol:

Was the oldest's 1st day of school today, dropped the baby off at preschool, her at her school and was only supposed to go into IKEA for 2 things-mixing bowls and drinking glasses. WELLLLLLL, what's a girl to do when she gets to IKEA at 0920 and it doesn't open till 10? Oh yeah, go into Home Goods and DSW, of course.... 2 pairs of shoes, 2 handbags, new bathroom rugs, Halloween decor etc, etc, etc.. later, I get to IKEA and fill a shopping cart. I chased IKEA with Costco----Oh now I see why they put all those stores next to each other now <_< And I was supposed to be home cleaning house.

As a punishment, Sven took me on a five mile run today. It was soooo humid and uncomfortable this afternoon that I puked after 2 miles, and by the time I got home, I randomly have 5 new gigantoid blisters all over my tootsies and I can't wear shoes  Guess I can't get my pedicure tomorrow--Damn that Sven, I can't even enjoy my new shoes!

Have to go watch the dancing again!! Goodnight all!

I stumbled over to this thread and saw poutine! It has made it's way to the midwest! I saw it at a local fair a few weeks ago and it is a hit here...

I'm a newbie to the boards... so hello to all!

Monica arrives and brings tales of poutine! Woooo!

elye Community Regular

HEYY! Morning comes, and another Nooobie has alighted! Welcome, Monica. Dear gawd, I cannot believe it - - this gastronomical chaos that is poutine has crossed the border and ensconced itself into the Midwest.

For any who actually want to know the history of this bizarre thing, an older clip that captures the beginnings of the Quebequois invasion:

Crap, it's even made it into the world of gangsta' rap........

My city puts on a festival every labor day weekend and this is the first year I noticed poutine... it was more popular than chicken on a stick. The friends I was with that night were absolutely horrified/intrigued by the phenom that is poutine.

Man, do I love the Midwest and our cuisine.

Gads, that poutine sounds like a right, royal MESS!--fit for our gastronomical queen. What say you, BunBun???

To me it is an abomination, being in my fries-eating days a purist--not a drop of ketchup made it near my fries :P I tell ya. And despite my British ancestry nary a drop of malt vinegar either. The only time I had "tampered with" fries was at the ballpark, everyone had been drooling over the garlic fries, so we got some at the baseball game one night. Blech!!! Most awful thing I've ever had and I luv garlic

Silly girl!!!!!

Any dealing with Ikea always begins with 'I was only supposed to.......' and ALWAYS ends in tears for the bank balance. My hubby refuses to go there anymore....we've lost WHOLE days to that shop!!!................ and YES!, why IS Costco's next door to it????

I am strangely drawn to the Poutine though  , if only to say 'I tried it and didn't die!'

And despite my British ancestry nary a drop of malt vinegar either.

Surely you jest Neroli?????

...no vinegar on yer chips is a crime most heinous IMO ;)

Got now't done today ..... am trapped ... reading the' Twilight' books by Stephanie Meyer, I am on book #2

I must eat this POUTINE- with gluten-free gravy. Anything with potatoes, gravy and cheese (and lots of SALT) sounds good to me! Must one be pregnant to eat it 4 times a week? Actually if I ate it 4 times a week I would LOOK pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!

Raye-chull! It is a beeootiful pic, and I thought it was your daughter.... . ..you are GORJUSS. Phunny and beautiful - - what a one-two punch! ;):D

As for all you Sven freaks, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT YOUR FEET LATELY?

Crap, I can look at my feet, as they appear as normal as always - - far from beautiful, but within the realm of normalcy......but I've been FEELING them :( .....well, the right one, anyway. Tried a slow jog this am wif the dogs, but was sent back, beaten after about five minutes - - started to hurt.

Who else here has a second toe longer than their first? Um, this, to me, is visually disturbing, quite an ugly glitch. I've very narrow heels, as well, and I'm rather wide across the toe base. Yes, ugly feet, methinks. I think we should all put up avatars of our feet, and vote on who has the nicest.

Any dealing with Ikea always begins with 'I was only supposed to.......' and ALWAYS ends in tears for the bank balance. My hubby refuses to go there anymore....we've lost WHOLE days to that shop!!!................

 I canna stand it.....it is very shrewdly set up so that you head in, turn many corners through a labyrinth of couches, then halogen lamps, BIKKART mirrors, SLOGENN bunk beds, through potted plants and closet organizers, can't take a shortcut, canna turn around, and all I need is a bloody wooden spoon!

:angry::rolleyes:

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.

oh that's interesting... it's hard to say for sure but it has *seemed* like oats might be causing me some vague issues in the past few months. It's odd that I never really connect specific symptoms to foods, it's more of an all over feeling of unwellness after  eating them.  If it happens a few times after eating the same foods- I cut back or avoid them. for this reason I avoid dairy and eggs.  So far this has worked well for me.  oh, I have some of Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot cereal and I love it! it's hard to find but I will be looking for more.  for the next few weeks I'm going to be concentrating on whole fresh fruits and veggies and beans and nuts and seeds. I'll have to find out if grains are truly necessary in our diet. I buy brown rice pasta but only eat that maybe once a month at most. Never liked quinoa. And all the other exotic sounding grains seem to be time consuming to prepare. Something to look at later. I love beans and to me they provide the heft and calories that make me feel full for a lot longer than a big bowl of broccoli or other veggies. I can't even tolerate the plant milks right now.  I have reached out to the endo for guidance regarding calcium intake - she wants me to consume 1000mgs from food daily and I'm not able to get to more than 600mgs right now.  not supposed to use a supplement until after my next round of testing for hyperparathyroidism.   thanks again- you seem to know quite a bit about celiac.
    • trents
Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SilkieFairy! You could also have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) as opposed to celiac disease. They share many of the same symptoms, especially the GI ones. There is no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out.
    • trents
Under the circumstances, your decision to have the testing done on day 14 sounds very reasonable. But I think by now you know for certain that you either have celiac disease or NCGS and either way you absolutely need to eliminate gluten from your diet. I don't think you have to have an official diagnosis of celiac disease to leverage gluten free service in hospitals or institutional care and I'm guessing your physician would be willing to grant you a diagnosis of gluten sensitivity (NCGS) even if your celiac testing comes up negative. Also, you need to be aware that oats (even gluten free oats) is a common cross reactor in the celiac community. Oat protein (avenin) is similar to gluten. You might want to look at some other gluten free hot  breakfast cereal alternatives.
