Skeeter update . . . testing that was done by the arse GI came back clean . . . had to find out through my pediatrician though. Pediatrician contacted the arse allergist that we saw over two years ago about what he check her for.

Anyway, pediatrician is ramping up to order some diagnostics so we can light a fire under the appropriate specialists. I like her . . . she's very much of an "I'm in it with you" kind of person.

What a bunch of ARSE crackers (except the pediatrician)! :angry: :angry: :angry:

I just bid on some red olympic mittens on ebay . . . you know, I'm cheap by nature so . . . if this doesn't work out (eg, goes over my max bid) would Jhess or Ruhshell mind driving up to Vancouver and standing in line and buying me a pair of mittens? I'll spring for a pair of mittens for yerself for doing me this favoUr.

From past experiences with Olympic venues (Salt Lake City): Because these are so popular, you can probably get them after the Olympics. For at least 1 year before and 3 years after, you could get SLC Olympic stuff at gift stores. I think the mittens were made for charity to pay for the Olympics. We were at Whistler last year & got our Olympic shirts. Going to be in Tahoe area this year & at Squaw which had Olympics in 196? & they still have Olympic stuff.

I baked yesterday, I experimented with gluten-free, vegan chocolate cupcakes with vegan chocolate/espresso frosting......Wholly sh!t, they were AMAZING!!!! I didn't know vegan could taste like that! They were in no way psilly ;)

Let it rip. I won't tell anyone, and you can blame the dog/child/husband or anybody else who happens to be in the room. :ph34r:

Finally found the Burly Robed Messenger's Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. Just made some for lunch as I still have a headache (may be gluten withdrawl). Loved it! Its a cross between Cream of Wh#@t & Oatmeal, 2 of my old favorites. On to the chocolate as it replaces the endorphins my brain is supposedly missing.

OK, next time, add a pkt of hot cocoa mix to the cereal while you're cooking it......WOWZA!

I don't know if you remember this, but he could tell by looking at her that he only needed to check her for environmental allergens. He also told me to challenge the celiac disease diagnosis because . . . wait for it . . . "the diet is too hard" . . . ummm, yeah, that's the reason you should challenge the diagnosis. Anyway, pediatrician is ramping up to order some diagnostics so we can light a fire under the appropriate specialists. I like her . . . she's very much of an "I'm in it with you" kind of person.

Pseriously?? I know we've been obscenely lucky with our doctors for the kids, however, I work with some of the arse-crackers. Tis very unfortunate that there are so many of them!!

Olympic mittens have been plentiful around here, and they're only nine bucks. Ours say "Canada" on one side with a maple leaf, and the five rings on the outside. I stood looking at them not long ago, and put them back after I checked the label and it said, of course, Made in China. Dunno, just seemed kind of. . ..... . .dumb, er sumfin'. . . . ....:rolleyes:

Patteigh! You left a cup o' pee at the lab? Precisely a cup? They needed eight ounces exactly? Did you pee in a measuring cup? :rolleyes: Actually, a cup is a whole lotta urine to be handing over. I usually put the li'l plastic container underneath mid-stream for a second only, and hand them that - - about an ounce, likely.

But that big orange jug - - man, that's a whole other ball game. . . . . .....

AND: WHY oh WHY do women not have access to very wide, shallow containers?? We are given a skinny, long container, not a problem for men, nice and neat.. .. .......us women...bah. Infuriating.

I didn't mean it literally, Em! :lol: I used the lil cup they handed me.....no wheres near an 8 ounce capacity which made it a pain to maneuver. Managed to get an ounce or two in there--that better be enough. :unsure:

Count down to the disco pah-tay tomorrow night. Friends are stashed in secret locations and I have the most obnoxious ABBA inspired outfit ever (with huge hoop earrings and a feather boa). The waiting is killing me! Senor K. knows something is up but not what. Asking for hints. I told him the only thing I can guarantee is that he will hear "Dancing Queen" at least once tomorrow night. :lol:

      You're right, doctors usually only test Vitamin D and B12. Both are really important, but they're not good indicators of deficiencies in the other B vitamins. Our bodies are able to store Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D in the liver for up to a year or longer. The other B vitamins can only be stored for much shorter periods of time. Pyridoxine B 6 can...

      So interesting that you stated you had sub clinical vitamin deficiencies. When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease (silent), the vitamin levels my doctor did test for were mostly within normal range (lower end) with the exception of vitamin D. I believe he tested D, B12, magnesium, and iron. I wondered how it was possible that I had celiac disease...

      Segments of the protein Casein are the same as segments of the protein strands of gluten, the 33-mer segment. The cow's body builds that Casein protein. It doesn't come from wheat. Casein can trigger the same reaction as being exposed to gluten in some people. This is not a dairy allergy (IGE mediated response). It is not lactose intolerance...

      Wheatwacked, what exactly did you intend when you stated that wheat is incorporated into the milk of cows fed wheat? Obviously, the gluten would be broken down by digestion and is too large a molecule anyway to cross the intestinal membrane and get into the bloodstream of the cow. What is it from the wheat that you are saying becomes incorporated into the...

      Wheat in cow feed would not equal gluten in the milk, @Wheatwacked, please back up extraordinary claims like this with some scientific backing, as I've never heard that cow's milk could contain gluten due to what the cow eats.

      You're right, doctors usually only test Vitamin D and B12.  Both are really important, but they're not good indicators of deficiencies in the other B vitamins.  Our bodies are able to store Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D in the liver for up to a year or longer.  The other B vitamins can only be stored for much shorter periods of time.  Pyridoxine B 6 can be stored for several months, but the others only a month or two at the longest.  Thiamine stores can be depleted in as little as three days.  There's no correlation between B12 levels and the other B vitamins' levels.  Blood tests can't measure the amount of vitamins stored inside cells where they are used.  There's disagreement as to what optimal vitamin levels are.  The Recommended Daily Allowance is based on the minimum daily amount needed to prevent disease set back in the forties when people ate a totally different diet and gruesome experiments were done on people.  Folate  requirements had to be updated in the nineties after spina bifida increased and synthetic folic acid was mandated to be added to grain products.  Vitamin D requirements have been updated only in the past few years.   Doctors aren't required to take as many hours of nutritional education as in the past.  They're educated in learning institutions funded by pharmaceutical corporations.  Natural substances like vitamins can't be patented, so there's more money to be made prescribing pharmaceuticals than vitamins.   Also, look into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, developed by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, a Celiac herself.  Her book The Paleo Approach has been most helpful to me.  You're very welcome.  I'm glad I can help you around some stumbling blocks while on this journey.    Keep me posted on your progress!  Best wishes! I believe he tested D, B12, magnesium, and iron.  I wondered how it was possible that I had celiac disease without being deficient in everything!  I’m wondering now if I have subclinical vitamin deficiencies as well, because even though I remain gluten free, I struggle with insomnia, low energy, body aches, etc.  It’s truly frustrating when you stay true to the gluten-free diet, yet feel fatigued most days. I’ll definitely try the B-complex, and the Benfotiamine again, and will keep you posted. Thanks once again!
