you know what you need? An immersion blender! They're so awesome! And way easier to clean than a whole food processor. You should look it up, you can get a good one for 40 bucks. Good for smoothies and soups and whipping cream and all sorts a stuff!

I used to have one of those!!!!

Burned the motor up making milkshakes all the time :P

Love me beans......one of the few things I CAN eat! Have not tried the brownies, though.

This weekend......phamily stuph. Teenage babydaddy nephew went off and got married, so there's a reception tomorrow. Then a family get-together Sunday, because one of Brian's sisters is in town. It will be a surprise for them when my son, Nathan shows up :D

No more school work. Good and bad. Now I'll have time to get some projects done around the house, but no money to spend on them <_<

go to the basement and put on a movie or go to one of the cable channels - tho some of them put that annoying warning message on the top of the screen.

Did your Hub come home for the weekend? Wish we lived closer, we could do something. My hub and M are going camping and fishing. J will have his own agenda (17 yr olds do). I should clean my closet or something productive but don't wanna.

Did your Hub come home for the weekend? Wish we lived closer, we could do something. My hub and M are going camping and fishing. J will have his own agenda (17 yr olds do). I should clean my closet or something productive but don't wanna.

Next weekend. With the holiday, he'll be here 3 whole days :D Closet cleaning is one of those things I have to be in the mood for :P I wish you lived closer too...feels kinda lonely here since we only moved here 6 months ago and although I'm friendly with people, I really haven't made friends so to speak....which I suppose is for the best since I'll be leaving too. If this house ever sells....

Hey, gang!

Well, we Canucks have our long weekend now, a week before our southern neighboUrs - -this is Victoria Weekend, when we celebrate Queen Vicki's birthday. She was quite a monarch, and I am so pleased that we venerate her as we do here. She was one of the first users of chloroform as an anaesthetic during childbirth. She publicly praised and drank the fashionable nineteenth-century cocaine-based drink Vin Mariani that later inspired Coca-cola. AND she outlived 12 of her 42 grandchildren.

I plan to do good, Victoria-inspired works today, things like tending to my outdoor fauna, grooming the dogs, visiting my mom..... . . ..dunno if I'll have the opportunity nor the wherewithal to consume any cocaine - - may have to work at that one. ..... .<_<

Sounds like you are having fun. Did you make your husband shoe shop and go to High Tea? That should earn him some gluten-free brownie points!

But of course! They did a vegan tea for me at the Empress, my food was much better than Jesse's ;) Also, they do a celiac meal if any of y'alls are up here sometime!

Well, I think I've finally recovered from Wednesday afternoon evening night...

I followed Wednesday with a Thursday. It was Baaaaaaaaad! I came back to the hotel and passed out before 10. I took 8 shots in 10 minutes..... :blink: Yes, stupid (but tasty!)

Gah! I do hope they were shaped like veritable maple leaves. . .. . ...!

And yes, after this week, they are! The smaller point at the knees and they just keep widening out from there!!! I think we're going to ride bikes up to Butchart Gardens today. That should burn a few calories! 19km each way :o -----Like I know how many miles a km is :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Thought maybe in "Victoria" there may be more of a toodoo this weekend.....so far it just looks like all the businesses are closed on Monday :huh:

We catch the ferry back to Seattle tonight! Hope there aren't anymore screamin kids!!

19 km is 11.7 miles. But it probably seems farther in metric units. It balances out though, cuz everything seems lighter in kilos. 45 kilograms doesn't sound nearly as heavy as 100 pounds (until you actually try to lift it ;) ).

I try to ignore my weight in all forms. I do like my weight if I were on the moon.

I just painted my toe nails an odd shade of red. In the bottle it looked like it would be a lovely burgandy - like the color that you see when you hold a glass of red wine up to the light. On me toesies it looks like dried blood with a shine. But its there, so there it will stay for a few days.

Taking the dog up to the rehab/ nursing home to see my mom. Fun times... :unsure:

I just painted my toe nails an odd shade of red. In the bottle it looked like it would be a lovely burgandy - like the color that you see when you hold a glass of red wine up to the light. On me toesies it looks like dried blood with a shine. But its there, so there it will stay for a few days.

Believe it or not, the same thing happened to me recently. We had been invited out to dinner before Mark left, and I was going to wear black so I thought it would be nice to change my toenails from my usual peach to red.

I got a really pretty (I thought) Chianti type deep red, but once I applied it it was too much of a good thing. It was dried blood red and against me very fair (read pasty) skin....oye :unsure:

Kept it on for a while too, but have since gone back to me trusty (boring) peach. :D

Holy hot waiter Batman!!! In a kilt too, no less! Thank God for sunglasses :). Our 19km bikeride each way turned into a 4 hour, we don't know where the hell we are, bikeride. Can't say it was particularly fun, but the gardens were beautiful! So here we sit, unable to move, at this awesome Irish pub eating and drinking our aches and pains away ;)

      @Scott Adams That's actually exactly what I ended up asking for— vodka tonic with Titos. I saw on their website that Tito's is certified gluten-free (maybe many of the clear vodkas are, I don't know, I just happened to look up Tito's in advance). I should have actually specified the 'splash' though, because I think with the amount of tonic she put in there, ...

      Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. However, now that we’re doing another biopsy in six weeks, we decided to do everything we can to try to “see” the effects, so we decided this past week to add back in dairy temporarily for breakfast (milk and cereal combo like you said).

Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
