Back from a visit with a nutritionist on staff with our pedi doc. She wants Timothy to try and eat from the rainbow every day. That is foods from every color.:lol: Yeah.. that will be easy

This is the kid that will eat peas... only cause he can swallow them whole! :D

My errands for today: the bank, the post office, and at least two grocery stores. Meanwhile, Jacquie is off to have lunch with her sister and visit her father.

OK . . . how's this? . . . my kids both decided they liked broccoli after friends had us over for a fondue party and the kids got to cook their own (in chicken broth). My son asked for more :o

You boiled the broccoli in Chicken broth? Interesting idea....

ANYTHING cooked in chicken broth would taste good....

Well Emmul that bodes well for the new "Shoppe" around the corner in the local quaint lil shopping district. Ye Olde Erotique Fruit Leather in back & Le Brotherie in front. They'll boil aaaaanything in broth. At the Oaxaca coffee place I'd overheard "beefbrothboiled chicken but thought it a culinary joke fragment. What *would* you call it if that carcass ended up used to make stock? And wouldn't it taste differently in the other order? Hoof/beak vs beak/hoof? (Uhhhhhhnappetizing :greenguy: )

I don't think I'm going out on a limb here refuting the commutative principle w/out evidence.

Oh yeah! I used to do that with brussel sprouts!

Hey.....don't knock it!

Good luck with that. My son will still not eat any food that he ever vomited in his life. Makes cooking an extra challenge. Maybe you can turn it into a game (there's the teacher in me again). Make a chart, give a reward, let him pick a special event to do after a month. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. BTW, look for an IM.

An IM?. . ... . ... ....did you mean "BM?".....Don't really wanna be lookin' for those..... . . .

Dear, gawd...... .. ..he won't eat anything he's ever VOMITED UP? Hell, I would be so screwed......I have thrown up regularly enough in my life that there probably aren't too many items I HAVEN'T brought forth again.... .. .and this reminds me of a discussion I had on fb some time ago that generated a lot of participation, so I'll throw it out here: Does anyone else around here, when vomiting, do so standing up? Or can anyone even imagine doing so? STANDING in front of the toilet......not crouching, or kneeling... . . ......DH does this. I think it's incredible, and one of the strangest things I've ever heard.....

An IM is an instant message and is private between the two members. I sent you one but it looks like you haven't enabled yours. Now I'm trying to find i in cyvberspace. Going to bed now- today was wonderful but wore me out. I see my oncologist tomorrow so hopefully my numbers went down. What will be will be!

I have known people who vomit in the kitchen sink. I hope they didn't have the washed fruit draining in a colander in the sink. :o

I've always sucked at typing. I used to always use spellcheck but the new version Superman upgraded my computer to is taking getting used to.

Incredible that one can stand in front of a toilet, simply tilt one's head downward, vomit into the bowl and suffer NO spillage. At least, this is what I assume he is doing, as he tells he will NOT crouch, or kneel anywhere near a toilet bowl......something about his Howard Hughes-like cleanliness issues. Man, when I'm about to barf I couldn't care less about the bacteria on the bowl/floor.....just let me crawl over, stick my head right in there.... . ...

We're quite different, he and I... .. ...

I'd go with a vodka tonic, but that's just me😉

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
