Thanks for sharing the excerpts from Fiddler!!! Sunrise Sunset always, always makes me teary (sssshhhhhh, don't tell anybody!) l'chaim makes me all giggly inside. How lovely life would be if we could celebrate lifes joys together....dancing, singing, not afraid to pass off a hug, or kiss, or to touch in fondness. Of course....I suppose the myriad glasses of assorted alcohols plays a part in this (?!?!?). I think that I find a bit of that here....a group that shares in the joys and the pain in the lives of each other with no other agenda than to care.:wub::wub:

Okay...done with the mushy stuff. JGoesS...I suppose you (all) dance just like that, too :P The bouncing boundless energy, the calories burned.....oooooh, I'm so envious.

Hey! Jude!....How are you doing over there? Hopefully hanging in there, and receiving some good news finally.

Have a shiny day all!

Big, black standard poodle boy.

Very thin, bladder infection (on meds, clearing up).. . ......

Haven't been around for a couple of days..Hard to catch up.

Em! A new dog . How grate and cheesy! Jon and I are still talking about getting one. we'll see.

Jess. You should sue those people, but thank God you have song and dance in your life. I used to be a fiddler, but never on a roof.

Lisa. At first, I thaught that was a painting on a bald man's head! It made more cents when found out it was a big ol' preggers belly!

Nik, I used to be a runner till my right knee gave out. Then, I walked for years, which was good. Then, I started to get sick and stopped. I want so bad to start again. Can someone kick me in the but to get me going?

To all the rest of you, just keep truckin'.

Big announcement. I have not had a smoke for 24 hours! This time, I think it's going to stick. Maybe that is part of losing me silly (that and the depresso weather change). This too shall pass.

It's funny though. Last night, I kept dreaming of cigs..I don't think Iv'e ever dreamt about cigs! And these were not fresh, clean cigs, but rather dirty stinky butts. Maybe that's a good sign

Emmel's getting a new furry friend!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!

But de-barked? Evil, barbaric, nasty, horrid.........I cannot believe the things people do to their animals. I *had* a friend who was going to have her standard de-barked (note: I said *had* a friend.....that's typical for her).

Elsie will make a great interpreter......I'm so happy for you Em!

What wuunderphul news Em! 'Twill be a lucky dog fer sher! I didn't know you could de-bark a dog :angry:I've know a good many dog-owners that needed de-barking.

Exactly......nothing more needs saying!

Patti- Your chocolate hazelnut decaf tea last night sounded delish!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK- I have a confession. I generally do NOT like musicals (I'm with Susie on this one!) but I LOVE Fiddler on the Roof. No idea why- not Jewish, Russian, don't like musicals but it's SUCH a great story!!!!

TRADITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I've been out of commision. Trying to force myself out of a cold, slicing open my fingers by being stupid, thank God for that Pumpkin Spice Latte yesterday to bring me back to life, I got soooo much accomplished yesterday! It's taken me a while to catch up.....

Man..... ......looks like we need a new furnace... . ....Gah..... . . .. :angry::o

Ours went out at the tail end of our massive snow storm last year, had no choice but to replace it. The morning they came to hook up the new one, it was 54 degrees in our house!!! My poor kids were wearing 2 sets of pj's, hats and socks to bed

Last year I brought in a plant that I wanted to winter inside (would not have made it outside and it was 'spensive). Apparently it was infested wif gnats (eggs in the dirt?) What do you do to prevent that?? What do you do if it happens anyways? . . . . . . btw, plant died anyway (hubby's fault).

I brougt a pineapple home 2 weeks ago that was apparently infested. I've been trying since then to get rid of them-finally found something that works: Get rid of any produce that is out-everything must go into the fridge. Make sure you have no dishes left in your sink at all times and your garbage can is covered. Now take a shallow dish, pour an inch or so of CIDER vinegar into it and a piece of banana peel, cover tightly with plastic wrap, make sure there are no wrinkles and poke a few SMALL holes in the top with the tip of a sharp knife. The gnats get in and can't get out. Overnight, I caught so many I can't even count them. I put a trap on each side of the sink and under, where I keep the garbage can.

Or get everyone snuggies.

My dd got one for her birthday. I thought it was sooooo funny, but she LOVES it and wears it to bed at night while she reads so "her arms don't get cold"

Sleezen the Wiccan queen of mid-Atlantica,

Use your Wiccan elements to help you with your smoking cessation:

Air and Earth: Go outside, take some cleansing breaths and go for a nice walk or hike

Fire and Water: Light a loverly candle and take a super hot bath with epsom salts to help you detox

These, in turn, will elevate your Aether (spirit) and aid you on your journey

If that doesn't work, get morbid--my SIL's mom was diagnosed on Friday with advanced brain and lung cancer-she's been a lifelong smoker...

Dear gaaaaawd!!!!!!!!!!!!!,...... that woman winds me up like no other.....now I'm fully aware of ALL DC's shortcoming's, but is it really necessary for her to try and belittle and patronise my parenting skills every time we speak

T'is tiresome and methinks it maybe makes HER feel better about her LACK of professional abilities somehow

We have arranged a face to face tomorrow...i'll be making meself crystal clear (whilst at the same time trying not to make it worse for DC  )

WELL.. . . . . .. :wub::wub: .. .. . .....last evening was a busy one. . ....

Charles is here!

He is a big, regal, loverly sub-standard......he is classified as blue-black. Elsie is over the moon. Pic up soon - - black is difficult to make out in a pic, so I dunno if any shot will do him justice. We're just getting to really know him. He's quite wunnerful.

Heard him try to bark last night -- a hoarse kind of wheezing sound..... . .poor thing. :(:angry:

Jooooodie, I didn't think it could get worse for ya. . .....so sorry. You two are working so hard, and getting a smackdown at every turn, it seems. hang in there, friend...

Nik! Go give that principal some pserious face!

Off to run with the dogs now......Charles is terrible on a leash - - has never been walked (spent the first couple of years of his life in a tiny apartment, had to pee and poop on the balcony):angry: .....so we'll see how it goes!

Ave ya looked out my window today? It's 52, raining, and windy! I ain't crazy (oh, wait, I am!) .Speaking of morbid, last year I had a renter - a strong man, who was preparin to hike the Appalachian Trail, and had a hard, physical job. He started to complain of back problems. Pretty typical for an older man. Didn't think much of it. But, I watched him quickly go down hill. He started walking more stooped and was losing a lot of wieght. I begged him to go see a doc and even took him food. 2 mns. later (Apr 28) he came to my house and expained that he had stage IV lung cancer and was moving in with his son that day. He died May 4. He was a life-long smoker. Some people are slow learners. I must be one of them.:ph34r:

I agree, it so often overlooked! I live in the UK and I have often wondered why doctors are so reluctant to at least exclude it - my thoughts are perhaps the particular tests are expensive for the NHS, so therefore saved for people with 'obvious' symptoms.  I was diagnosed in 2013 and was told immediately that my parents, sibling and children should be checked.  My parents' GP to this day has not put forward my father for testing, and my mother was never tested in her lifetime, despite the fact that they both have some interesting symptoms/family history that reflect they might have coeliac disease (Dad - extreme bloating, and his Mum clearly had autoimmune issues, albeit undiagnosed as such; Mum - osteoporosis, anxiety).  I am now my father' legal guardian and suspecting my parents may have forgotten to ask their GP for a test (which is entirely possible!) I put it to his last GP that he ought to be tested.  He looked at Dad's blood results and purely because he was not anemic said he wasn't a coeliac.  Hopefully as the awareness of Coeliac Disease spreads among the general public, people will be able to advocate for themselves.  It is hard because in the UK the NHS is very stretched, but the fallout from not being diagnosed in a timely fashion will only cost the NHS more money. Interestingly, a complete aside, I met someone recently whose son was diagnosed (I think she said he was 8).  At a recent birthday party with 8 guests, 4 boys out of the 8 had received diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, which is an astounding statistic  As far as I know, though, they had all had obvious gastric symptoms leading to their NHS diagnosis.  In my own case I had  acute onset anxiety, hypnopompic hallucinations (vivid hallucinations upon waking),  odd liver function, anxiety, headaches, ulcers and low iron but it wasn't until the gastric symptoms hit me that a GP thought to do coeliac testing, and my numbers were through the roof.  As @trents says, by the grace of God I was diagnosed, and the diet has pretty much dealt with most of those symptoms.  I have much to be grateful for. Cristiana

@xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

@EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees.  People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits.  Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease.   Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of the extra histamine the body makes with Celiac disease and histamine consumed in the diet.   Vitamin C and the eight B vitamins are needed to help the body clear histamine.   Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?
