Actually, I'm pretty good at editting to see if the sentences make sense. I usuually know if something is spelled wrong, I just have to look it up to fix it. Let us know the blog so we can become fans and leave effusive and approbative comments. (Open Original Shared Link) :P

Maybe I should check your spelling (or maybe not - I might not do American so well any more) because I was promoted a grade for being such a good speller - then ended up in high school when I was eleven :( Stunted my emotional growth

Ahhhh, thanks  I had applied for that gluten-free writer's job on about.com last year but was turned down for lack of writing experience. I had to send in a sample and apparently, they didn't like it  I used to be a pretty good writer. Won some awards for my short stories and poetry in middle and high school. Maybe if you don't use it you lose it... I'll try it out this weekend and see what he thinks. Jesse had sent him my blog info and he called Jesse back saying he loved it and wanted me to write for him!

I am SO not touching the wee melons.

Today did not start well.

We usually take Tuesdays off, and have a chance to sleep later, and have a lazy start to the day. It started off as usual, but at 9:30 the phone rings. Associate is hearing beeping noises and Jacquie thinks it is the UPS with a power problem. I talk to Cheryl, and try to diagnose power problem over the phone, but get nowhere.

Throw some clothes on and J & I hightail it down to the store. When we get there, it is not the UPS that was beeping, it was the CPU. Cheryl has been trying to work through a "keyboard problem" with tech support. The UPC scanner and the keyboard use the same feed through a Y-cable, and she is trying to get the spare scanner to work with no success. I get on the horn with the support analyst (whom I have known for almost ten years) and we eventually get it sorted out. But it is noon before J and I get back home and can start making breakfast. :(

This afternoon, we go to a local building supply store where the service is usually good. I need a piece of hardboard cut to size for a display at the store.

Find the required object, and go up to the cashier, with my Visa card ready. ID10T cashier hits the wrong button. She then asks me if I have cash. I say, "I gave you the credit card for a reason," but find a ten dollar bill for the 8.84 purchase. She takes it, but then can not figure out how to give change. Jacquie says, a dollar sixteen. ID10T get out her calculator and still can't figure it out. Finally voids the sale and does it over on Visa.

So then we go the back where the cutting gets done. ID10T there running the saw can not grasp what I want: (1) cut the length to 29" then (2) cut the width to 23-1/4". It takes repeating the request multiple times, pointing to where to cut, and he still almost does it wrong--fortunately I am watching and stop him.

Gonna start on making gluten-free pizza in a few minutes. :)

Sounds like National IDIOT Day! Did not realize you had this day in Canada. too. Pizza and wine, if you partake, are the official foods for National Idiot Day.

Don't forget the ice cream! Lots and lots of ice cream :D

Phunny, I had a 10 minute conversation wif a patient's wife today about the IDIOT's who cannae count change. Even when the total comes to $8.52 and you give them a 10, they type 10 into the register and the computer reports change as $1.48, they continue to stare into the change drawer trying to figure out how to make $0.48!!!:rolleyes:

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
