It's better if you don't know

Susie Q has a slightly mad obsessive addiction to them, and we have had an intervention, but to no avail the urge for more nuggets have been so strong and have overcome all good intentions to kick the habit  .

I went to Target yesterday and I am in the candy aisle and see shelves and shelves of Susie's NUGGETS, all different kinds.....truffles, with nuts, without nuts, toffee. So I grab a bag. BIG MISTAKE.

Now I understand the obsession. Little individually tin foiled wrapped creamy milk chocolate bites of melt in your mouth heavenly goodness.

Premature post:

Loooooove Ecco Bella. It's the only mascara that's never entirely irritated my eyes.

Hi, btw...another ish ish here. I've mostly been lurking. Need to go read the rest of the thread (such quality entertainment :lol: )

Mi Mango!!!!!!!! I guess I am an ish

I also use Ecco Bella mascara, and I love it :)

Are you gonna post your koala pic???

Baaaaaad mojo or kharma or something :(

Maybe i should burn some incense and dance around my barbie doll collection or something?

I think it might have been the whole Gene Autry thing on the "arguing "thread....Don't mess with dead singing cowboys! (or their stuffed horses)

Richard, you crack me up :lol:

So what your not perfect? THATS IT GET OUT OF THIS THREAD! Oh, crud that means me to... mind holding the door while I get my things ?

Hmm do you mean you have a grown child that has moved out? Not sure whatyour asking... sorry I do not read every post on this board, I struggle to keep up with teh few places I can be a helper... so missed the story if you posted it already!

Ok, sorry you got lost. Don't pack yet! :D

My 22 year old daughter moved far away 3 weeks ago and I have just been kind of lost. My other daughter got married in June and my son moved far away about a year ago. So it's been quite a struggle, but I am focusing on it just being a new journey. That's what happens when you have 3 kids in 3 years they also leave around the same time!

It's good to read about all that has been going on with everyone.

What are bumble bar's? Are they any good? I made some chocolate chip cookies out of a mix this morning but they weren't too good ;)

Then tomorrow I turn the big 50!!! New journey?? How did this happen so fast? Will I be kicked out of the 40 board?

DingoGirl Enthusiast

TAVI!!!!! OMG turning 50 tomorrow??? Well.....you know what they say.....50 is the new...is it 30? ;)

gosh, that must be so stressful, having all the kids gone at once. A total re-adjustment in your thinking.....and a time to think more about yourself, I suppose, when y ou're probably not used to that.

You look very youthful and adorable in your photo...and lots of fun.

oops - gotta go - more later....

BEV - we need a photo with you and the sparkly devil horns, you crazy girl.....

Just wanted to say Hi to y'all!! :)

Richard.....:lol::lol::lol::lol: oh dear gawd....this doesn't sound like the best weekend ever, and sorry about the KY, yes, good thing it was not a petroleum-based accident....I think what you're supposed to do is....light the hair of a Barbie on fire, and then.....run around the new refrigerator.....:lol::P

MUCH BETTER DAY TODAY!

TGI Columbus Day/Daddy Daughter Date Day! The 3 of us have been having a wonderful day. We made an apple pie this AM, they "helped" me remove a cabinet needs to go to make room for the new fridge then we went to McD's for Happy Meals and an hour of screaming madness in the play area. On th eway home we stopped @ Dunkin Donuts and got some Munchkins (lucky kids  ) for an after nap snack. They are napping right now and I'm contemplating how to best run/connect the h20 line to the fridge (it's not here for another week or so...*@#$%! Home Depot ) ...I honestly didn't know we HAD KY jelly

Mary seems in a more civil mood today. She is at work, so we're going to make a nice dinner for her. No wine, but maybe some whine :P

So no girls on trampolines...girls on bungies?

FYI - No Barbies were harmed, the incense was enough to drive out the evil spirits :)

Tavi - don't worry, we'll "grandfather" you in. I don't have the heart to call you an ish - you've been through too much already.

Julie - thanks for the laugh!:lol::lol:

Carla - glad you've had some good days all in a row!

Susan - do they make dark chocolate nuggets? Wait, maybe I should hope they don't.

Andrea - an off the wall question. Is Lingonberries Market worth a drive from Federal Way?

Green12 Enthusiast

Susie, I now understand your addiction. The bag I bought yesterday is gone :ph34r: I got the milk chocolate truffle nuggets and my mom got the toffee. I had a few of the toffee ones, but my heart belongs to the Truffles. HEAVEN.

Susan - do they make dark chocolate nuggets? Wait, maybe I should hope they don't.

Hi Liz :)

OMG, DO NOT ASK, you will be sorry

But to answer your question, yes, yes they do have dark chocolate nuggets, Special Dark Chocolate with Almonds and Special Dark Truffles in fact, for informational purposes only.

Use caution in the candy aisle, or better yet, avoid it all together. Run away from it as fast as you can and don't look back :lol:

Hi Nikki!! I read in the other thread about your cat, so sorry :( And congrats about the grand baby, how exciting!

Hi Tavi, so good to see you!! How are you doing with the kids all gone?? I am not mad at you, don't really know what happened, but I seem to miss out or show up late where all the drama is happening  Happy early B-day to you, hope its a great one :)

Sounds like you are having a fun and busy day today Richard.

BEV - we need a photo with you and the sparkly devil horns, you crazy girl.....

YES!!! I agree, would love to see that

Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.

I was just diagnosed at 26 after accidental finding. Any simple tips for newbies? Things a non celiac would never think of? I already went through my prescriptions and identified some medications that have gluten. Is there a beginners guide? Celiac for dummies?
