Has anyone ever had one type of reaction to one type of gluten and another reaction to another type? Does that make any sense at all?

I think I was glutened last night and had severe stomach cramps. This morning D.

I purposely glutened a while back. My reaction was immediate DH. D the following day and for many days there after, along with foggy headedness.

Why one type of reaction one time and a different one the next?

Just FYI I am staying gluten free since the bad experience when I did it on purpose.

I definitely get different reactions. Sometimes I get the most awful awful awful stomach cramps...I feel like someone is stabbing me in the intestines and stomach. Those can last for hours too!

Other times I have just gotten D, headaches, and feel VERY lethargic for days. I have no idea why sometimes I get those awful cramps. They are just dreadful. I have not purposely consumed gluten, so any of my "glutenings" have been some kind of cross contamination from eating out or from a product that produces gluten on the same lines (Frito Lay for example). Obviously I am very sensitive!

Hi Cameo674. just read your post. Well wishes to a correct diagnosis so that you can get on track to healing and feeling better. Personally I know it’s good to have the eosinophilic disorder ruled out too, as this can show anti-ttg igA antibodies too. But usually without the anti-gliadin antibodies unless gliadin is an allergen for you. Thanks for posting the link to look up SNPs rs… numbers on another post. Was useful. Looking at your result, ”Celiac Associated HLD-DQ Typing: DQA1* Value: 05; DQA1*DQA11 Value: 05; DQB1* Value: 02; DQB1-DQB11 Value: 02; Celiac Gene Pairs Present Value: Yes; Celiac HLA Interpretation Value: These genes are permissive for celiac disease.  However, these...

Hello. Do you mind saying what symptoms led the doctors to test for bacteria in your blood?

So you you ate wheat products every single day for 50 years without a problem but then in the 90's you discovered that wheat was your problem. That's confusing to me. It seems contradictory. Did you have a problem or not?

I spent my first 50 years eating wheat products every single day with no ill affects. Being a 6’2” Italian you can imagine what my diet was like and believe me I had an appetite that wouldn’t quit. In the 90’s once I discovered the wheat was my problem I avoided it and no longer had IBS.  I seriously doubt I have celiac but I appreciate your input and will let you know if I have a problem with wheat again. I’ve been eating things I’ve longed for for decades and have never felt better.

I would say two things and then I'm done. Many celiacs have been misdiagnosed for years with IBS. Testing for celiac disease requires regular and significant consumption of gluten for weeks/months in order to be valid.
