Hi, I'm really new at this, like 10 minutes new, so I hope I'm doing this right. Does anyone know if Zatarain's rices (any flavor) are gluten free?? also, new topic, (oops) I was a dairyholic, 3 glasses or more of skim milk a day 1 yogurt daily, lite vanilla ice cream too!!! Well, I had to lay off dairy along with gluten, I replaced my milk consumption with Skim silksoy milk and yogurts. A friend recently directed me to a web site that warned of the dangers of Soy, breast cancer, ect... another friend told me soy was 15 times more acidic than orange juice?? any comments? thanks cindyf

Zaratran's is okay. I don't do well with soy anything... A holistic doc told me a small amount is okay but don't go overboard with it.....

Hi Cindy--welcome to the board!

Zatarain's is a company that will list any gluten on the label--just read carefully.

Soy dosen't agree with some people and it dosen't show up until they begin consuming larger amounts of it. Personally, I can't eat dairy or soy. I use a potato-based milk substitute called Vance's Dari Free.

Other substitutes that people use are rice milk and almond milk. Both are easy to find, you may have to experiment a little to find the one that tastes best to you.

Rice Dream is made with barley, so beware of that one. ;)

I love Zatarins rice, the Dirty Rice with extra lean hamburger is yummy and I use the Spanish Rice and add turkey links to it...

but I mostly wanted to say, been only doing this for two months, and have had to cut out dairy for now, just a bit of milk in coffee is all I dare consume...I found out the hard way cheese is a big no no for me right now.

I am mostly living on Van's Gluten Free waffles, fried egg whites, cuz I don't need the yolks..and Progresso Chicken and wild rice soup..rice crackers and baked chicken, potatoes, and steak..homemade stew has been good too, but keeping things really basic and plain for now, until my intestines get healed up a bit..I was surprised I have been able to do so well with the Zatarin's rice though...

no fruit, and veggie wise, carrot and beets and green beans and actually canned corn has been ok for me...

I have been fighting major D for 3 months and Psyllium Husks have really been helping to firm things up a bit as well.

oooohh really? Zatarains --- I love their Yellow Rice. I am new at this too and I read the label and I get scared when I see Dextrin, natural flavor, modified food starch, and of course, MSG gives me the creeps.

Getting used to reading all this label stuff is the hardest part.

I have a couple of boxes of Zats Yellow Rice in my pantry -- maybe I can eat it afterall? hmmm....

Chow,

Cindy

Not all of Zatarain flavors are safe. You do have to read the labels. Unfortunately I used up my last box so I couldn't tell you what I was using - I think it was Jambalya. I wouldn't worry about the soy - the women in Japan have a much lower incidence of breast cancer and their diet was based on soy - until it became westernized with our much greater ingestion of fats. As you heal, you may be able to digest dairy again. Celiac causes damage to the villi, and it is in the tip of the villi that the body produces the enzyme necessary to digest diary. After about three months of being gluten-free, try a little dairy product again like yogurt or mozzerella cheese. It was yellow cheeses that took the longest for me to be able to eat again.

Hope that helps some.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
