Has anyone made gluten-free bread & butter pudding ? I wonder if it works just the same ?

I just looked up bread-and-butter pudding--oh, does that look scrumptious! I don't see why it wouldn't work with plain old gluten-free bread, especially if it's not a heavy bread.

You've just inspired tomorrow's breakfast!

And it can be made savoury by adding chopped sauteed bacon and cheese. Or as a sweet - extra sweet with apricot jam etc Guess I will just try it and see.The bread used to go all mushy anyway - so can't see why gluten-free bread wouldn't work.

Georgie, I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Mum used to make it when we were kids, my husband loves it and you have given me an inspiration to try to make it gluten free. I have never thought of making it in a savoury version. More inspiration.

I made a trifle for xmas, it wasn't too bad, but I wil have to work on the sponge part.

The savoury version used to be great - so will try gluten-free. Has anyone tried it with apricot jam ?

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
