Oh, that was so long ago girl, and nowadays, it would roll off my back! And I am so glad you are enjoying it! I am using gloMinerals now. They are PRESSED!!!! Nice little compact of mineral make-up! No more messy minerals getting everywhere!! (Yeah, I quit using/selling Mary Kay....so sad... ).

Welcome and hi, you've never seen me before but I used to be around a lot. I may be opinionated and snarky at times, but I'm truly always trying to help!

I think we have all been attacked or ignored at some time or other on this site. I know when I was first on here I was ignored, then attacked, and at one point I almost left the board. But the majority of people are great and the information and discussions are worth while.

I am with the others when they say to start something with "I have heard, I was told, Could you tell me, Does anyone know..." All of those are a good way to start especially when it applies to things that may or may not contain gluten.

I recently found this site via surfing for Johnny Rivers links. I couldn't figure out why his name was associated with Gluten free until I read it was a post from Dingogirl about him.

I think there are a lot of people who post on this board with really dumb ideas or really stupid things they are planning to do, but come on. How many of us, before a diagnosis, would have thought cutting out a major food group would be a good idea?

People come up with the most ridiculous ways to treat their ailments, but if they work, what's the problem? They only things I take issue with are when people insist that their potentially harmful viewpoint is the only one. If you choose to avoid all products with msg, that is different from saying that everyone needs to avoid all products with msg. (OK, that's not potentially harmful, but it would be very restrictive.)

Also, this board is very cliquish (although there are also many people who are not). I agree that camaraderie is essential to healing, but it would be nice if new people showing up weren't wondering how long they have to be a member before they are allowed to get a little red title at the bottom of their name.

Okay, it's gone (red title)

I'd hate to think it alienated anyone :( (newbie or otherwise) and to be honest I forgot all about it.

Actually after I posted that I kinda looked and realized that most people had removed them already.

The titles were kind of cute, but I remember at least one topic asking what "Rachelville" was.

I guess you could just change them to "self proclaimed".

Mine would be: Self proclaimed newest Spice girl - B!#@h Spice

What's interesting in all this is how insidious cliques can be. I have felt *slightly* left out of the board because I'm not a part of it. I'm not a part of most PMing things that go on, the friending thing that started when our board got upgraded, and lots of the other clique-y things. But that's because I don't participate in it myself. (Ok, it could be my personality too, but I don't even get a "nice try" because I don't really 'try'. :P:lol::P) You can't get into a social circle without time and effort, and some of us choose not to spend our time that way. (I never could get into the 'in crowd' anyway. :P)

Shut, I spent a great deal of time in high school trying to get into the in-crowd. As I expect that most of us did. I arrived as a Senior. I looked around and said to myself, "for this?"

It sent me on a new road when I went to college, just to be myself. I have some life long friends.

I definitely just laughed out loud to that one. Its a good thing no one was around :D You are too funny. Everytime I see the quote in your signature from your ex-allergist, I have to smile.

Tiffany: no matter if you are part of a clique or cool or any of those things, I think what is important --- to me --- is the time, effort, and thoughtful answers that you provide. You have a wealth of information about Celiac - and other topics - that is so appreciated by me and many others. Plus, you are continually a trustworthy poster, which is so important. The board benefits from you, and you benefit from it in the way you choose, and I think that's all that matters. (by the way: You know you are a Celiac when you think someone is REALLY cool because they know so much about Celiac) B)

That is very true! And there's NOTHING wrong with it! You are you and those that like and respect you will continue to do so regardless; those that don't, eh, it's their problem.

I'm really unhappy with the whole star "Rate Me" thing. I think it's being used as a way of being mean. And there's no clarification on what we're supposed to rate people on. Like I said before, I feel like it's ratemyprofessor.com and pretty soon people will bea able to click on a little chili pepper next to your name to show whether you're hot or not.:P :P

@catnapt,  Wheat germ contains high amounts of lectins which are really hard to digest and can be irritating to the digestive tract.  They can stimulate IgG antibody production as your blood test shows.   Even beans have lectins.  You've simply eaten too many lectins and irritated your digestive tract.   You may want to allow your digestive tract to rest for a week, then start on gluten in "normal" food, not in concentrated vital wheat gluten. This explains it well: Lectins, agglutinins, and their roles in autoimmune reactivities https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25599185/

I take Now B-1 (100 mg) Thiamine Hydrochloride, and Amazing Formulas L-Tryptophan (1000 mg).   Both are gluten free and free of other allergens.  I've taken them for a long time and haven't had a problem with them. I take Vitamin A from BioTech called "A-25".  It's gluten and allergen free and made in the USA.  It's a powder form of Vitamin A.  I was having trouble digesting fats at one point, but found I tolerated the powder form much better and have stuck with it since.   Tryptophan and Vitamin A help heal the intestines as well as improves skin health.  I get Dermatitis Herpetiformis and eczema flairs when my stomach is upset.  So I'm healing the outside as well as the inside.   I take one 1000 mg Tryptophan before bedtime.   With the Thiamine HCl, take 100 mg to start.  If you don't notice anything, three hours later take another. You can keep increasing your dose in this manner until you do notice improvement.  Remember not to take it in the evening so it won't keep you too energized to sleep. When I first started Thiamine HCl, taking 500 mg to 1000 mg to start was recommended.  If you've been thiamine insufficient for a while, you do notice a big difference.  It's like the start of a NASCAR race: Zoom, Zoom, turn it up!   This scared or made some people uncomfortable, but it's just your body beginning to function properly, like putting new spark plugs in your engine.  I took 1000 mg all at once without food.  It kicked in beautifully, but I got a tummy ache, so take with food.  I added in Thiamine TTFD and Benfotiamine weeks later and felt like I was Formula One racing.  So cool.  You may feel worse for a couple days as your body adjusts to having sufficient thiamine.  Feels sort of like you haven't cranked your engine for a while and it backfires and sputters, but it will settle down and start purring soon enough.  Adjust your dose to what feels right for you, increasing your dose as long as you feel improvement.  You can reach a plateau, so stay there for several days, then try bumping it up again.  If no more improvements happen, you can stay at the plateau amount and experiment with increasing your Thiamine TTFD.  It's like being your own lab rat.  LoL Yes, take one Benfotiamine at breakfast and one at lunch.  Take the B Complex at breakfast. Take the TTFD at breakfast and lunch as well.  I like to take the vitamins at the beginning of meals and the NeuroMag at the end of meals.   You may want to add in some zinc.  I take Thorne Zinc 30 mg at breakfast at the beginning of the meal.   Are you getting sufficient Omega Threes?  Our brains are made up mostly of fat.  Flaxseed oil supplements, sunflower seed oil supplements (or eat the seeds themselves) can improve that.  Cooking with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil is also helpful.   @Wheatwacked likes phosphotidyl choline supplements for his Omega Threes.  He's also had dramatic health improvement by supplementing thiamine.  You're doing great!  Thank you for sharing your journey with us.  This path will smooth out.  Keep going!

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.
    • catnapt
I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.
    • xxnonamexx
What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks
