Hi, My name is Luda.

I discovered I was a Celiac Around this time last year, I was 23. I'd been suffering alone until I stumbled on this site!

I was near having a panic attack this morning because the bar BQ sauce i was dipping my chicken in had soy sauce (soy sauce! with wheat!) and I didn't chance on the ingredient list until i was about to throw out the container. Who puts soy sauce in Bar BQ sauce? (watch that be a standard ingredient and I just had no idea)

I've been struggling with hidden gluten for the past entire year. In spite of all the direct food I've avoided I may as well have just done nothing!

I'm so frustrated :(

Anyway, it's wonderful to be able to speak with people who can relate. It's nice to meet you!

Yea. This is a great place. It's kinda like finding your home planet isn't it? :D

Having this message board to search through makes it easy to find out if a product has been verified gluten free. I was lucky enough to find this board before I had my testing done. I don't know how people do this on their own.

I'm glad you found us. Welcome to the board.

Yes, wheat is hidden in so many things. BBQ sauce is one of the many things it is hidden in, soy sauce is a bad one too. There are BBQ sauces without wheat though and I am sure someone will come along and tell you which too try. I can't have tomatoes or I would suggest some for you.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome!

Luda, did you ever try LaChoy? It has no wheat. I also know that there is a wheat free brand sold online in the Gluten Free mall and Miss Robens.

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
