Kix Cereal

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but thought I'd ask anyway......a friend told me that she is using Kix cereal in a snack for her son's class. There is a little girl in the class that is gluten-free and her mom told my friend that Kix was ok to use.

I don't think so......I looked on here as best I could, but apparently you have to have more than 3 letters in a word to look it up....I kept getting a kick back when I typed in Kix to search.

So, does anyone have info on this that it IS gluten-free???? It has oat flour in it, which means CC to me, and I'm not going there.

Yes, Kix has oat flour which makes it unsafe for Celiacs. It is not likely the manufacturer used uncontaminated oats to make the cereal.

The only cereal that is gluten free are fruity and cocoa pebbles. There is also a Dora the Explorer cereal that I have heard is gluten free. My wife makes cocoa pebbles crispy treats that are awesome. She makes them just like rice crispy treats.

This should probably read "The only MAINSTREAM cereal..." Specialty food stores (like Whole Foods) generally have a variety of gluten-free cereals. Also, more and more "normal" grocery stores are starting to stock gluten-free stuff.

I love the Dora Cereal, kind of reminds me of Cinnamon Toasts Crunch but a lot less messy.

Great! I didn't know that Trix was gluten-free. I love the berry flavored fruity pebbles. That's about all I eat!

The Little Einstein Cinnamon Stars are also gluten-free (atleast last time I had them. But that was several months ago, so be sure to read the ingredients).

Oh my gosh, envirokids makes a cereal called Gorilla Munch that is exactly like Kix but even sweeter :) I love them and eat some everyday!

(Sorry if someone already said that, I'm in a hurry so I couldn't read all the previous replies)

Yeah! This cereal is great. It's so sweet that it's almost kinda like a replacement for Captain Crunch for me, but not as sweet. :)

I miss my Rice Krispies though <_< what's the best substitute that you all use for those?

I have had celiac for 12 years. I avoided Kix until just recently. I understand as long as oats are grown and processed apart from wheat they are okay >> maybe they switched in those areas. I don't know but I sure am glad to be able to eat them again !

I too enjoy the Gorilla Munch > cross between Kix and Captain Crunch to me !!

The problem with Kix, and all other cereals that I know of, is the oats that they are made from AREN'T the ones that are grown separately from wheat. THey are contaminated with gluten. Do not eat Kix - they are not safe.

SO I AM LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT THAT IS GLUTEN & PEANUT FREE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A CERAL LIKE KIX THAT IS MADE WITHOUT GLUTEN IN A PEANUT FREE FACILITY ? Someone responded a few weeks ago about cocoa pebbles has changed the recipe and is no longer safe. As is Trix. SOmething about the POST cereals were changing the recipe on how items were made. ALways check ingredients before buying.

We buy Erewhon cereal that is just like rice krispies. They have a few different kinds, all made with brown rice. Some are sweetened with berries and some are just plain. I like the plain ones.

Corn and Rice Chex are also gluten free. I was suspicious of Kix when it did not have the Gluten Free label, in spite of the lack of warnings on the box, since Geeral Mills puts the Gluten Free label on when it applies.

This is a really old thread from 2007. Kix actually do not have oat flour and are now considered gluten free. A lot of companies don't put "gluten free" on the label but it doesn't necessarily mean their product isn't safe for us. Be careful to notice the dates when you see a thread, often times even a thread from a year ago has out of date information.

YIKES!! I started reading this thread, not realizing the old date, and completely flipped for a moment...I've been eating Berry Berry Kix for the past week and thought it was safe-- it is! I'm not losing my mind after all :P I double checked my box and there are NO gluten ingredients listed. Doesn't mean there isn't some chance of cross-contamination, I guess, but I'm not ultra-sensitive and I've been eating it for a week with no symptoms, so I guess I'm good!

      So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
