Last night, we took a trip to Dillsburg to pick up my pumpkin pie at the Gluten Free source. I love this store and with raising gas prices, when I need something I usually mail-order it. Well, I had enough time to browse last night and I found the Ian's French toast sticks and Gluten free Corn Dogs. Now I have not gotten to try either but it is was a good find.

I'm so jealous! I still haven't gotten out there and I really should. I have an almost 4 year old who's never had a corn dog!

Love the new avatar, Annika is getting so big.

It's a great store and it has a lot of stuff, it's just a long drive, even for us.

Oh Wow! That is a bit of a hike. Would take us about 3 hours to get there. Might be worth stopping in if I get out to Mom's place on a non-holiday.

What part of PA are you in?

Nyxie63 Apprentice

I'm kinda halfway between Reading and KoP, just off 422.

That's cool, I was just shopping to King of Prussia last month.

Have you guys noticed a big increase in Celiacs in our area? I've met so many new Celiacs over the past year its not even funny.

I've been there just a few times, but my mom is there fairly often to get treats for me. I like to think I know my gluten free foods, and they certainly have it covered! Great family-happy to support them.

I too love that store --it is a overnight trip for us...... Lauren & Beverly Fleming (the owners) are very nice ......They have a large selection so it is almost one stop shopping for gluten-free....

If anyone is going there ask them to carry Against the Grain rolls & baguettes. These are excellent..... The distributor for this is United Natural Foods -- they will need to know that info...

I'm just a little bit below PA, in MD. I went out there a few months ago and felt like I just kept driving and driving....forever. I even got lost (but I can get lost in a paper bag ;) ). It was well worth the trip, though.

You're a braver woman than I am. LOL! I live 1/2 hour from the mall complex and haven't been there in 6 or 7 years. After about an hour, I go into sensory overload and have to get out of there.

I'm going to be checking out Kimberton Whole Foods next week. I've heard they have a pretty good gluten-free section. They have 3 locations in our area and they're a lot closer than Whole Foods or Trader Joes. Will let you know how it turns out.

I work in a company of about 30, and there are two confirmed Celiacs, and i suspect 2 others... but neither of them want to hear it.. they would rather live with "IBS" diagnosis.

Oh well.. It's nice that I now have a "gluten-free" buddy so we can make sure that we have gluten-free stuff at our pot luck lunches.

Is there a digestive enzyme that helps build a healthier gut? I see people taking them but not sure what really works

So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.
