I'll try to do some this weekend. I had dark sparkly blue eyeliner and brighter sparkly blue as main color.

I keep forgetting to post that I have looked like a trollop all week (Thanks Crystal :D )

I hadn't realized that the formulation of the EM eyeshadows made them difficult to overuse. I used my finger to apply a different companies eyeshadow and I looked like a vegas show girl

I dimmed that day down a bit, but it has been fun being a floozy.

:lol::lol:

You need a very light hand with the dark colors!

SO, I guess I was spoiled with my last order, receiving it within two days of ordering. I ordered another sample kit at the beginning of last week and it still isn't here <_<

Shannon, I understand your frustration

Jestgar Rising Star

Well, I couldn't quite catch all the shine, but this'll give you a rough idea of how I looked at work.

Hello ladies!

I FINALLY got my order last week.....CS emailed me back and had it to my door in two days.

I wonder if someday I'll see the lost order appear??

Anyway, I love EVERYTHING I ordered!

The Ivory pressed powder is something I've been waiting for. I LOVED using pressed powder from CG before, and this is even better.

Of course, I'm thrilled to death to have Peach blush back! I use it all over my face.

I am heartbroken that this will be my last Silk Dust though! :( I guess I can see why they're discontinuing it though.

Opening Day, which I think was the free gift - very pretty, kind of a dusty rose color with gold sparkles. Nice blush, a little too light for me on my eyes.

Cookie Sheet - LOVE IT!!!! Mauve color, looks nice on my eyes and cheeks, and the greenish sparkle is beautiful.

Apple - nice, a little too flat for me though. Still looks very pretty.

Plum Dust - looks great on my skin, too matte though. Very pretty light plum.

Flannel PJ's - AWESOME! A nice coppery color with some rose in it, pink and gold sparkles. I love it for my eyes and cheeks.

Shortcake - so pretty, looks great on my cheeks. Baby pink with LOTS of sparkle.

Waffle Cone - a lot lighter than I had expected, but still pretty. Nice underneath another brown.

Homework - pretty, deep brown with tons of sparkle. Sooo nice!

Pink Ribbon - very pale pink, but sparkly. Nice for an all-over face color, I bet.

Samba Lessons - just gorgeous! DEEP coco color, lots of sparkle, one of my new favs.

Baby Sitter - I haven't gotten the nerve to try this yet, but it's very pretty. My 6-yo daughter loves it. Pretty, sparkly baby blue.

Smokey Pink - another new fav. Mauvy, tanish pink, very complex color, I love it. Of course, lots of sparkles!!!

Both Missing Socks and Bamboo lip gloss are way too pale, and they look exactly the same!

And my angled blush brush was on backorder, supposedly I'm getting a GC in my email.

I'm about to take some pics of the swatches I just did on my arms to describe them to you!

dlp252 Apprentice

Oh Shannon, what a fun great order!

I'm soooo out of the grove, lol. I haven't worn makeup in over 2 weeks because I haven't left my house in over two weeks, lol. I haven't visited EM website in about 3 weeks....don't even know what's new!!

Hum, maybe I should go take a peek later, lol.

YAY Shannon, so glad you finally got your order!! Thanks for your reviews :)

I got my sample kit the day after I wrote I hadn't gotten it yet

I also emailed EM weeks ago about not receiving the eye brush in my mini eye shadow kit and I never heard a thing back from them <_<

 a Donna sighting!

What has happened to our gluten-free make-up cult?? Where is everybody?

AndreaB Contributor

I'm here....reading right along. I appreciate the reviews too.....so why don't I do any, right.

I tried Samba Lessons and had too much on. It looked awful....would be better ALOT lighter probably.

I haven't been wearing makeup much as I've been a homebody. I usually try to remember to put some on before I go out though.

Great reviews! I love the ivory pressed powder too.

I am also heartbroken about the silk dust. I just ordered six full size silk dusts in a personal kit lol. I don't know what I will do when those are gone.

What has happened to our gluten-free make-up cult?? Where is everybody?

I've just been sidelined by my surgery, but I'll be cultlike again very soon. I'm housebound at the moment with nothing to do except watch the birds fighting over what is left of birdseed in my neighbor's hanging bird feeder.

Perhaps a trip over to EM would be a good thing right about now, lol.

Green12 Enthusiast

Wait!!! Will all Silk Dusts be discontinued, even the Tinted? I don't know how I missed this development....why are they discontinuing it? And are they replacing it with something else?

 Donna

Good idea to check out the EM site, if you spot anything new and exciting let us know!

Where is Mango? I think she is cheating with other gluten-free mineral make-up companies

dlp252 Apprentice

I'm totally out of the loop...I did go over and take a look. They still have tinted silk dust, or at least did when I looked earlier, but I don't know if they're discontinuing or not. Fortunately I think I have two full unopened regular silk dust containers and one or two tinted silk dust containers.

I've also got one personal mini kit and one personal full kit completely filled, lol. I'm not sure I'll order yet though. I may have to have another surgery...no sense buying more makeup until I know what's going on with THAT, lol.

Jestgar Rising Star

I got mine because of my surgery. If your gonna lay around feeling like crap, you may as well look fab while you're doing it :P

yes, all silk dust is going to be gone for good due to poor treatment of the silk worms  . They say the start to finish powders are the replacements. Those will not replace the silk dust for me.

Donna, so sorry to hear of your surgery, even worse to hear you may need more.

dlp252 Apprentice

Hum, why yes, this would also be a great time to experiment with stuff, lol. :) Hum...my friends are picking me up for dinner tonight...maybe I'll try a new look. :P

Poor treatment of silk worms? Wow, now THAT's something I can honestly say has never crossed my mind, lol. You are very correct...nothing will replace silk dust...the other stuff verges on clogging my pores. Maybe I'd better put in my order before they run out.

Thanks...this surgery was to correct a bunion on my foot...not serious. The next one may be more so though, but that won't happen for a few months...just waiting for a second opinion, then would have to be referred to a specialist surgeon.

dlp252 Apprentice

Well, after posting last I went ahead and ordered! I hobbled down to the mailbox this morning! I LOVE the stuff I got, at least in the jars, lol.

Here's what I got:

Three full sized silk dust

Two full sized tinted silk dust

Sample sizes:

Homework Blush

Rasberry Sherbert Blush

Coffee Break Blush

CoffeeShop lip gloss

Eyebuki Brush...I LOVE this and can't wait to try it

Free gifts:

Bronze medal, Silver Medal, Golden Medal eyeshadows

(all of which look great in the jar...can't wait to try bronze medal as a blush!)

I have a followup appointment with the foot surgeon today so I think I may have to wear makeup so I can try some of these things!:P

Green12 Enthusiast

Sounds like you got some fun stuff Donna :)

I am debating if I should order any Silk Dust before it is gone  I just got a sample recently of the Tinted Silk Dust and I have only used it a few times, so I am not sure if I need it, and then of course what happens if I LOVE it and I can't get it anymore...so lots to think about.

Do you use the plain Silk Dust in the winter and the Tinted in the summer?? Do you need both or would one be fine?

Green12 Enthusiast

Ooops, double post.

AndreaB Contributor

Donna,

Have fun trying out the new colors. :)

Julie,

I'd be hesitant too. Nothing like finding something you really like and not being able to get it anymore.

dlp252 Apprentice

I use the tinted silk dust with my lighter foundation and I use the regular silk dust with my darker foundation, lol. That's it. Well, also I like to use the tinted silk dust if I use it over my foundation (but don't do that very often anymore...I mostly use it as a primer). I'd say you only need one, but with my overabundance must-hoard=everything gene, I had to have both. I think as long as it isn't opened it will keep quite a while.

Okay I LOVE the eyebuki...it's kind of like the fluffy brush I bought from Sephora only a little more blunted.

I used Coffee Break blush today...very nice. On me it was like a light bronzer...very natural looking.

I used Bronzer Medal eyeshadow, and I liked that too...again, very natural looking. I'll try it next time as a blush...I think it will do a similar thing as the Coffee Break did.

I also tried CoffeeShop Lipgloss, which I like, but it didn't really show up. That's better than being too light by-the-way, lol.

Green12 Enthusiast

The new colors sound great Donna and thanks for your thoughts on the Silk Dust.

One more question, is the Silk Dust what several of you raved about several months ago being such a great primer under foundation??

dlp252 Apprentice

I'm not sure, but I think I may have been the only raver, lol! I think it absorbs a little of the oil, but it's probably my imagination. :P

Mango04 Enthusiast

This is from another EM cult thread (yeah there are others besides us :rolleyes: )

If it's true it's super weird! :blink::wacko:

from acne.org:

I am so glad I found this thread. I have this same issue! I ordered and waited 16 days, with no response from my repeated emails about my missing order. When I finally went public by asking the status of my order on their forum, I was treated rudely by the forum admin. She told me "you may reply to me in PMs only from now on". Well, the PM function did not work!!! She insisted it was USPS' fault, but I pressed harder. I said I wanted an actual date the box left their building. She would not give it to me but said they would "reship" finally when I told her I was really upset by not receiving my order before I left on vacation....She sent it next day, but it arrived while I was gone. The order never went out in the first place but they won't admit that. They just try to blame USPS. but how can hundreds of people all have missing orders and it not be a problem in the shipping dept of EDM. When I suggested that on the boards, guess what? SHE BANNED ME from their forums. I signed up with another account and she banned me again!!!!!

Here's the kicker: She said on the forum for all to see, that I was not banned. However, she sent me a PM saying she had to ban me. So, now people are jumping in saying EDM never bans it's members or deletes posts (which they deleted every post I made almost).

I love EDM products, but the CS sucks!

Here is what she wrote for the public to view: EDM customer (me), this is your second post on the same issue. Truly, there is nothing that is being done to keep you form being an active member of this EDM community of ladies who have a joy for life, a deep regard and respect for themselves and others. If I am keeping you from being a participant in this really wonderful EDM family, please PM me and let me know. I have no idea who you are or what your intentions are and therefore feel very badly but at the same time, it does seem that your mission is focused on one purpose. Please PM me so that I can know more about your situation. Thank you. lisa

Now, read what she PMed me: Sorry edm_customer, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.

insists on posting about her situation and bringing EDm into her ventings

I feel very badly that I had to take away the privileges of being a part of our wonderful EDM family. I personally regret limiting our access to this forum. It just became necessary to do so because it appeared that you were consumed with that particular order and the situation around it and it just got to be counter productive. Now, with your new username, you still insist on bringing up a topic that is resolved and in the past.

If we agree, then I will lift all restriction. OK?

So now everyone thinks I made it up that I was banned, but the problem is, when you're banned you cannot reply to anyone.

This is so frustrating I just need to vent. I was consumed with the fact that hundreds of people had the same issues, and all those posts kept getting deleted, and they still won't own up to the fact that THEY made some major mistakes.

I called my sister and told her about it and she said, "Um, this JUST HAPPENED TO ME, only it took a month! No one would email me back, and finally when I threatened them, they wrote back and said they had to reship it because USPS screwed up. Well, I got my order DHL, only to have a duplicate order show up the next week with the shipping date AFTER the DHL order. They were trying to cover up that it never went out in the first place."

Jestgar Rising Star

I agree on the oil absorption. I had to stop using it in the winter because it made my skin too dry.

yes, Mango, weird on the not-banned banned member. Wonder if it's true?

ohsotired Enthusiast

Unfortunately, I have heard of far too many problems with EDM and their shipping woes. And they always blame it on USPS, from what I understand. It's not personally happened to me (I have yet to order anything from them) but I hear this a lot. :(

I think maybe the company grew too fast. They can't seem to handle being personal with their customers and managing the larger site at the same time. Bummer.

The whole thing "lisa" wrote about the "wonderful EM family" is pretty odd, IMO. Oh well.

@KathyR37, I would suspect that in addition to gluten intolerance, you have other food intolerances/sensitivities. This is very common in the celiac community. The most common offenders are oats, dairy, soy, corn and eggs with dairy and oats being the big two. Have you considered this? Have you tried keeping a food diary to detect patterns?
    • Theresa2407
thank you for your advice.   I have always taken them and I use Stonehedge because they are in a glass bottle, but don't have to be refrigerated.  I also like they are 3rd party tested and state gluten free. But you never know if something better has come alone over the years.
    • KathyR37
Thank you for your response. I have already learned about the info you sent but i appreciate your effort. I am the only one in my family cursed by this disease. I have to cook for them too. I make sure that my utensils are free of gluten and clean after using them for other food. I use non-porous pots and pans and  gloves when cooking for them. One huge problem I have is a gag reflex out of this world and if something doesn't taste good it is not going down. Most commercially made breads and such taste like old cardboard.Pastas are about the same. I did find one flour that I like and use it regularly, but it is so expensive! All gluten free food is way more expensive. I only eat twice a day because I cannot afford to buy all that. We live on a very low income so my food purchases are quite limited.

What you've described—the severe weight loss, the cycle of medications making things worse, and the profound fear of eating before leaving the house—is a heavy burden to carry for 15 years. It is absolutely not your fault. While everyone's journey with celiac is different, the struggles with the learning curve, social isolation, and dietary grief are feelings many in the community know all too well. Your question about whether you should just eat what you want and manage the symptoms is a heartbreaking one, born from years of frustration. It's crucial to know that the diarrhea is a sign of ongoing damage to your small intestine from gluten, and simply managing the symptom with Imodium doesn't stop that internal harm or the risk of other complications. The fact that you are still getting sick within an hour of eating, even while trying to be gluten-free, is a huge red flag that something isn't right. This could be due to cross-contamination in your kitchen (e.g., using a shared toaster, colander, or condiment jars), hidden gluten in foods, or the possibility of another concurrent condition like refractory celiac disease. Don't give up!  This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):

I am new here but celiac disease is not new to me. I was diagnosed with it at age 60. At the time I weighed a whopping 89 pounds. I was so ignorant to celiac so I buried myself in learning all about it and looking for food I could eat. I lost so much weight and stayed sick all the time. So to combat the sickness I was give all sorts of meds for loose bowels and vomiting. All that just made me sicker. Eventually I chucked it all and went back to eating like I had all my life. Now I am from the south and biscuits and gravy are a big part of our food, as are breaded foods, pasta, and sandwich bread. Through the years I would try to do the gluten free thing again and am doing it now. It has not helped any. Within and hour of eating I have to run to the bathroom. I am now 75 and am wondering if I should just forget it and eat what I like, take Immodium and live the best I can. I cannot eat before going anywhere for fear of embarrassing myself. Family and church dinners are out of the question unless I eat and run straight home. I am so frustrated I just want to sit down and cry or throw something. Does everyone go through all this?
