How often do any of your clean your brushes and with what??

If I remember correctly the site said to wash your brushes with shampoo and rinse til you don't see any more color coming off the brush. Also to wash at least every 2 weeks.

I've read that some wash everyday.....I guess it depends on how much they are used, etc.

They suggest washing them in the evening so they are dry in the morning. Seems like when I washed mine that they took longer than 10 hours to dry. I washed mine in the morning and left them til the next morning. I haven't gotten back into the habit of wearing it everyday though. Mostly just when I go out, which isn't very often with the gas prices. :(

I sometimes brush the blush into my eyebrows to give them a hint of red. Today I brushed some onto my growing out bride-of-frankenstein gray streaks on my temples, worked pretty well -dulled the gray. maybe a fun way to liven up your hair color for a day. :P

 !!!! Okay, I must try this. Probably sometime in August...I'm having my hair done Saturday, but then won't be able to have it done again until sometime at the end of August, so my grey roots will be showing plenty by then...I'll have to experiment with different colors, lol!

place 3 orders in one week? Two in the same Day!!!!!

...

Where are you guys ordering the cases from ?? I believe I need one now.

Okay, three in a week, and TWO in one day is definitely cult status...in fact, if Mango doesn't pop in more often we might promote you, lol. (J/K Mango! No one could replace our founder, lol)

Train cases...I bought my first one at Target...a bright blue Kaboodles plastic case. My second one was also from Target, but was a "craft" tote.

Then I bought this one from this company:

That's too small now, so I just ordered this one from Sephora (saw it in person in the store and it is bigger than my other pink one):

As far as cleaning brushes...I try to do it at least once a month. I have some liquid castille soap that I use. I also have duplicate of all my brushes because, like Andrea said, they seem to take a really long time to dry. Overnight definitely doesn't do it for me, and sometimes it even takes a couple of days. And, I even rub them on a towel to get the excess water out.

Here is the Caboodles box I bought at Target (only I got it in blue):

Hum, that Caboodles link took me to the main page...the one I got is like the pink plastic one...

I'll try this link:

 It's okay, I deserve to be demoted LOL.

I even have an EM rant today....

Start to Finish Rice Powder. Does anyone have success with this? Whenever I use it, it makes my foundation all caky and dry, and prevents it from lasting for more than an hour or so. I wonder if the regular Start to Finish powder is better?

confused Community Regular

I use the start to finish soft bronzer and to come to think of it is a little cakey. Im having more problems with the pearl stuff. Last night i put on a little pearl beige and i actually thought my makeup looked good. Well as i was driving to the baseball game, i looked in the mirror and omg i looked terrible. i was all shiney and my wrinkles were magnified and it just looked terrible. I stayed in the car to watch the game, i didnt want anyone to see me lmao.

Im thinking og gaing back to all the basic stuff from before the new site. I had better luck with that stuff lol. The pressed powder is terrible, the pearl stuff is terrible, the start to finish is not that great. But hey the new lip colors are cool lmao

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

Yeah the pearl concealors take a little work to get just the right amount. I'm thinking of putting tape over all but one hole in the sifter so that I never get more than one little dot, lol.

Guess what!

MY NEW TRAIN CASE CAME!!!! Woo hoo...I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Andrea, I haven't sent the package out yet, lol.

Okay, I'm debating whether or not to take makeup to Vegas. It's going to be so flippin' hot that it's just going to melt off anyway and probably not look good more than an hour or two. My friend hasn't seen me in makeup in YEARS, lol. She'll be shocked! Still, we're staying in a suite and I MUST look the part mustn't I?! J/K....I NEVER care about THAT, lol. Actually, what it will come down to is whether or not I want to put the extra "weight" in my bag, lol. I only take one small carry on. I'm lazy. :P Still, maybe a little foundation, blush and lip gloss might work. Ah, decisions, decisions!

omg if I took my make-up backpacking around Ireland you absolutely MUST take yours to Vegas! How is this even a question? lol Who care about the heat? Simply reapply as necessary. :P:lol:

Donna, why don't you compromise and just take the basics? All of that would fit into a very small makeup bag/pouch thingy.

If it were me I would take my foundation and brush, blush and brush, one neutral eye color and brush, mascara, eyebrow brush, lip balm, and lip liner. I have what I need for a full face if I want, or I could just do a la carte things as needed, say just a little blush and lip balm.

Jestgar Rising Star

pearl stuff: I dust mine on with a really loose brush, then use a kabuki to blend it in. Get just a bit all over your face.

Yay on the new train case arrival! :D

Definately take the basics. Aren't you going to be in A/C a lot of the time?

Okay...basics it is! Yeah, A/C most of the time but they over-cool the casinos so that when you step outside into the JULY heat it's like stepping into a furnace, lol. It only takes a couple of minutes out there to start sweating. :sweatyfacedemoticongoeshere:

I got makeup today. They same stuff i ordered last time lol.

DOnna.,

Just put the basics in the puff containers that you got.

Sorry the new stuff isn't working for you. I like the pearl consealers done very very lightly on and around my eyes, then I cover with foundation. My husband commented that my eyes look nice and bright, but not shiny.

Good decision. It is not like you can just go and buy it if you decided you wish you had it with you.

I am so happy to finally have a foundation that works for me. I get the perfect look by using a light covering of the ivory pressed powder followed by the soft peach butter. I hope you all eventually get a pressed powder color that works for you, because the finish it gives to the skin is so much better than the regular foundations. One of these days I will have to post a new picture. I have been having computer problems lately, so I can't right now.

confused Community Regular

I do think in the winter time the pressed powder will work but right now im way too dark to be wearing stuff that light. I have done so much yardwork and landscaping that I am very tan right now and that stuff just makes me look like death lol. A month ago sunkissed fair was my perfect color, now im back to buttered tan and summer beige to match my skin lol. That might be another reason the pearl stuff dont work. I will wait til winter and try that stuff again, since i have enough to last an lifetime.

Donna,

You will have to post pics of the new trian case full of makeup, well maybe not. I know i will want to buy it once i see it lol.

My second order came in! I can't wait to experiment. My summer foundation shade is Ivory. :P

I just emailed EDM about my problem... hopefully this will be resolved by Monday or Tuesday. :)

dlp252 Apprentice

Birdy, definitely hope that gets straightened out for you soon.

Okay, SOMEONE please tell me why I haven't been wearing WAFFLE CONE, lol! I'm still trying to sort through all my stuff and last night while trying to put everything in my new train case I came across Waffle Cone. For some reason I was thinking it was WAY brown, lol. It was so pretty in the jar that I had to wear it this morning...just to grocery shop and get my hair done and go to the car wash, lol. See, now THAT's the problem with having too much stuff!:ph34r::lol:

Wasn't sure I liked the new train case, but after a few rearranges, I think I've found the perfect configuration. Everything (except lip gloss), even my spares, fit in there! I wish there were a few more grooves to put the dividers into but I found a way to make it work the way I want. I do miss the drawers that were removable in my old train case though. It may not have had as much room, but EVERYTHING was easy to get to. I may put my lip glosses in the old case.

Um...because.... hmmm... spreadsheet mishap? Typo of sorts? Data entry error? Seriously, I can think of no other reasonable explanation.

Oh and LOL about the lip gloss train case

It is bigger, the tempation to get one is killing me lol.

Today, I gave my mom the pressed powder, the pearl sunlight and the launch party one. She was so happy. She cant wait to try them tommorow. She is so much whiter then me that i think the pressed powder will look great on her.

Problem has now been solved! :D :D

And they not only refunded me for my mistake, they refunded me both the payments and are sending me the makeup free! :o Looks like I just must repay the company for such excellent customer service by putting that money right back into it! Right???

Wonderful news, and perfect cult behavior lol. Enjoy!

I have a new order almost ready to go, but it won't let me add one of the new colors I want. I guess I will have to wait to place my order. I will just have to miss this special and hope they get another one up soon. Then again, maybe I should just add one of my favorites, although, I have duplicates of each already. What to do, what to do.

So I recently had allergy testing for IGE antibodies in response to foods. My test results came back positive to corn, white potatoes, egg whites. Tomatoes, almonds and peanuts to name a few.  I have had obvious reactions to a few of these - particularly tomatoes and corn- both GI issues. I don’t really understand all this allergy versus celiac stuff. If the food allergies are mild do I have to avoid these foods entirely? I don’t know what I will eat if I can’t  have corn based gluten free products

Geography makes a difference.  I'm in the West and Trader Joe's gluten-free bread tastes great and is a better price than most gluten-free breads sold elsewhere in my area.

We have four children (7-14 yo), and our 7 year old was diagnosed with NCGS (though all Celiac labs were positive, her scope at 4 years old was negative so docs in the US won't call it celiac). We have started her on a Gluten Free diet after 3 years of major digestive issues and ruling out just about everything under the sun. Our home and kitchen and myself are all gluten-free. But I have not asked my husband/her dad or her other siblings to go completely gluten-free with us. They are at home, but not out of the home. This has led to situations when we are eating out where she has to consistently see others eating things she can't have and she has begun to say "Well, I can't have <fill in the blank>...stupid gluten."  How have you supported your gluten-free kiddos in the mental health space of this journey, especially young ones like her. I know it's hard for me as an adult sometimes to miss out, so I can't imagine being 7 and dealing with it! Any tips or ideas to help with this?

By the time I was 5 I had my first auto0immune disorder, Migraine headaches, with auras to blind me, and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. I was 5 years old, and my stepfather would have pizza night, milling his own flour, making thick cheesy gluten pizza, that I would eat and the next day, I would have serious migraines, and my mother & stepfather did nothing about my medical problems. When I was 17 in my first year at college, I was diagnosed with my 2nd known auto-immune disorder, Meniere's disease. I was a elite athlete, a swimmer, and soccer player. And once again my parents didn't think anything of understanding why I had a disorder only older people get. Now after my mother passed from Alzheimer's disease she also suffered with living with gluten. She had a rash for 30 years that nobody could diagnose. She was itchy for 45 years total. My brother had a encapsulated virus explodes in his spleen and when this happened his entire intestines were covered with adhesions, scar tissue and he almost lost his life. He has 5 daughters, and when I finally was diagnosed after being pregnant and my body went into a cytokine storm, I lost my chance to have children, I ended up having Hashimoto's disease, Degenerative Disc disease, and my body started to shut down during my first trimester. I am 6ft tall and got down to 119lbs. My husband and I went to a special immunologist in Terrace, California. They took 17 vials of blood as we flew there for a day and returned home that evening. In 3 weeks, we had the answer, I have Celiac disease. Once this was known, only my father and husband made efforts to change their way of feeding me. At the family cabin, my stepfather & mother were more worried that I would ruin Thanksgiving Dinner. It wasn't until one of my cousins was diagnosed with Celiac disease. They finally looked into getting Gluten Free flour and taking measures to limit "gluten" in meals. He did nothing but ask for me to pay for my own food and wi-fi when I came to the cabin to stay after our house burned down. When he informed my mother, they proceeding to get into a physical fight and she ended up with a black eye. The is just more trauma for me. Sam had no interest in telling the truth about what he wanted. He lied to my mother that he had asked my husband if I could pay for "food" when he asked Geoffrey if I had money to pay for my wi-fi. My mother hates when he spends so much time on the computer so he lied and said I could pay for my own food. I will remind you I weighed 119lbs at this time. (At 6ft) that is a very sick looking person. Neither parent was worried about my weight, they just fought about how cheap my stepfather was. As my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014. He had her sign over the will to a trust and added his children. He had no testimonial capacity at the time, so she signed without proper papers. Making this Trust null and void. When I gave my brother my childhood home, my mother stated I would be getting an equal part of inheritance to the house on Race. It currently worth 2.0 million $. I got nothing, and my stepfather has since disowned me b/c of my claim and he knows that my mother would never have left it uneven between my biological brother and myself. She sat me and my husband down, as we lived at the Race Street house and treated and took care of it as our own. My brother took over b/c he was going through a horrific divorce and needed a home so he could get a better custody deal with his soon to be ex-wife who was a Assist DA for Denver. She used the girls against him, and he & I were the primary caregivers. We, Judd and I spent the most time with them pre the divorce. Once Judd moved into the house, he threw all of my mother, grandmother and my family heirlooms out to the Goodwill. Nobody told my mother about this as she was going through cancer treatment and had Alzheimer's disease in her mother and her sister. My stepfather and biological brother took advantage of this matter, as I called a "family council" that my brother just never could make it to at the last moment. All of the furnishing, kitchen ware, everything was in the house my brother just moved into. He had had 2 weddings, I chose to elope b/c my stepfather ruined my brother's first wedding by talking about his relationship with my brother in front of my dad and his entire family, insulting him and having my grandfather leave the ceremony. It was a disaster. My stepfather just plays dumb and blames my father for the slight. I was the only child not to have a wedding. So, my mother and stepfather never had to pay for a thing. My mother had had an agreement with my father he'd pay for college and all medical issues with their kids, myself and Judd. So truly my mother never had to pay for anything big for me in her entire life. I am looking for anyone that has had a similar story, where they grew up in a household that had a baker that regularly milled flour and ate gluten. What happened to you? DId you suffer from different auto-immune diseases b/c of living with a baker using "gluten" Please let me know. I have been looking into legal ways to get my stepfather to give me what my mother had promised, and he erased. Thank you for listening to my story. Jane Donnelly

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.
