Oreo's?

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me, I just found out I have celiac and I really want some oreo's. Does anybody know of a Gluten free cookie that is like an oreo? even if it's a recipe I'll take it!

I've only had them once, but there is a cookie called K-Too's that is just exactly like an oreo. I think it's by knikkinick, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

They are made by Kinninick, they are so good! Try the vanilla cream as well. I was impressed.

I have good news and bad news-- the good news is the cravings do go away. Especially if you stay away from your former favorite foods. The bad news is that gluten in an integral part in making certain foods taste good. Especially processed baked goods. You will never find a cookie without gluten that tastes as good as an oreo. However, if you wait few months you will forget what they taste like and some of the gluten free cookies will begin to taste better.

I know this sounds grim, but it really isn't that bad. It gets easier, especially if you don't cheat.

What I would recommend doing is spending a few months pigging out on the naturally gluten free popular junk food like full size snickers, M&Ms, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids and Tostidos. Then after a few months try the Glutano Chocolate O's Sandwich Gluten-Free Cookies (the best fake oreos I have found). If you try them now you will think they are disgusting. If you wait 4-5 months they will be palatable and slightly addicting.

Edit: there are good oreos out there? I have never seen that brand. I will have to try them!

Try the kinock imitation oreos they are the best. The midel ones are decent but not as enjoyable.

Definitely try the Kinnikinnick Kinnitoos. The chocolate and vanilla flavors are both great. My husband could not believe they were gluten-free. I have to hide them from my kids because they can't stop eating them. And if my kids eat them all, there are none left for me!!

I think the Mi-del ones are only good for crushing up and using as cookie crusts. My kids call them hockey pucks!

I love the k-too's so does my gluten eating inlaws. I made an oreo sundae for them. Crushed oreos (1 1/2 packages) with 1/2 cup butter melted mixed and spread on a 13 by 9. Then vanilla softened ice cream, then 1 1/2 jars of smucker's hot fudge sauce on top of that, cool whip on top of that and the last of the oreos crushed sprinkled on top. They loved it!

I think the Kinnickinnick ones are best.....I gave one to both my husband and to my son and neither one realized it wasn't the "real" thing. I tried the Midel ones but didn't like them as much.

Also....Kinnickinnick makes a fabulous "animal" cookie type cookie....I forget what they call it but it's on their website. Super crispy and actually better than the real animal crackers, which I love. Unfortunately, the first ingredient is sugar so they're not so good for you, but boy do they taste good. :D

K-toos are so much like Oreos that, unless they read the lettering on them, most people can't tell the difference. :)

The only difference I can tell with k-toos is the "stuff' isn't as greasy and they don't leave that disgusting grease film on the roof of your mouth. Which is a huge bonus if you ask me.

If you have any health food stores in your area you might check there. I have a couple of stores in my area that actually carry some of the Knikkinick products. My Whole Foods does not carry them though, but there's a smaller store that does.

In my experience, it seems that smaller privately-owned natural food stores usually carry Kinnickinnick products more often than the larger chains do. The closest place I can find them is 45 minutes away from me, but it is SOOO worth it. :D

I think the happiest moment of my Gluten-free Casein-free life was when I made my own Gluten-free Casein-free cookies & cream ice cream with the Kinnickinnick cookies and Gluten-free Casein-free vanilla ice cream!! It was HEAVEN!

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

      Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
