Obtaining Insurance

I was diagnosed over two years ago. My husband recently lost his job in which I was covered under group insurance. He is now working again and neither of the companies we work for offer group insurance. I have been turned down for private insurance. Can anyone PLEASE help me with getting new insurance? The State of Texas has not been very helpful with Celiac disease as they do not see this condition as a disability. Please help!

can you call your doctors office and see if they have any suggestions? or maybe the department of health?

i don't live in Texas so i know i'm not much help but in New York (where i live) there's a program called Healthy NY and it provides health coverage based on your income. I'm not sure of the requirements but my sister got coverage and she has problems with her weight and thyroid so they can't be too strict. maybe Texas has something like that?

California has a high risk health insurance pool. Below is a link to what I think is Texas's equvalent.

The other option is for you to look for a job with health insurance.

Hope you can find insurance.

About 40 years ago I, too, was rejected by insurance because of celiac. My physician (an internal medicine specialist) wrote a strong letter to the medical director of the insurance company, explaining that my disease involves an inability to digest gluten and that I comply religiously with the gluten free diet. Moreover, he noted that there is no research that indicates lower longevity among people diagnosed with celiac than for the public at large.

It worked: I got insured and have been insured ever since. Do NOT let this go, because it may affect your ability to get insurance from other carriers. Find a doctor who will be a strong advocate for you with insurers.

Please expand on this as I don't understand who would be the source of the slighting: the insurance companies, the doctors or the state insurance regulators?

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets...

      I see it everyday on my feeds. They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts. I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field. Some days I would just like to scream. So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach...

Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
