I am 1 year into this and have been doing remarkably well. I think I've gotten too brave, because yesterday at Germanfest I asked about the brats (they were Usingers) and whether or not they had been boiled in beer. They were, but the manager offered to cook me one that wasn't in the beer. He came back, put it in a bun and handed it to me. Then I told him I couldn't have it and why, and he cooked me another one. Sure enough, in the middle fo the night last night I thought I was going to die!!! Major cramps and then D and sweats. I woke up this morning with a huge headache, but mostly better. I just want to be somewhat normal and eat fun food sometimes that is safe!!

Any thoughts??

Sorry you're feeling bad. That is no fun. You probably had CC from the grill and the utensils. The utensils touch the buns then your brat and whammie! If the grill wasn't washed clean of the beer brats, whammie! Sorry, I went to a family reunion yesterday where there was very little I could eat. But I ate what I could and had a Lara bar with me and had a good time. It wasn't just about the food.

Believe me, I feel your pain. I was just thinking of coming here and starting a similar thread. I was on a cruise all week last week and did great. I am only a month into the gluten-free diet and I had finally started feeling better. On the way home from the cruise I ate at taco bell. I made 2 great mistakes:

1. Eating at taco bell in the first place. I thought they'd have more safe stuff. I am going to be giving them a call today.

2. Eating 1 bite of 1 corn chip which I spat out when I realized I had forgotten to ask if it was cooked in common oil. It was. I ate pintos and cheese though. It is hard to believe that 1 bite of 1 corn chip could make me sick for 3 days (so far). The pintos and cheese could have been CC'ed too.

I had been feeling so good finally and I am so discouraged to be sick again. It makes me wonder if it was really the taco bell. I am still waiting on some results from enterolab and it is hard to know for sure if it was gluten or what.

I feel your pain. I really do.

      Hello everyone. I am Elena and am 38 years old. I suspect I have a gluten intolerance even if my celiac panel is ok. I have the following symptoms : facial flushing, Red dots not bumps în face, bloating abdominal distension, hair loss, depression anxiety even with meds and even bipolar. Fatigue extreme to the point of not being able to work. All of these after I eat gluten. Could I have non celiac gluten sensitivity? Thanks anyone else with these symptoms?

      Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.

      I'm sure it's chemically perfect. Most of them taste lousy!

      Hi @JulieRe.  I just found your post.  It seems that I am also experiencing thrush, and my doctor believes that I have fungal overgrowth in my gut, which is most likely candida.  I'm seeing my GI doctor next week, so I'm hoping she can diagnose and confirm this and then give me an antifungal treatment.  In the meantime, I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, doing a candida cleanse and taking vitamins. It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !
