Attention: Ravenwood or Jersey Angel...........or anyone else willing to help

I am having a very diffilcut time finding a gluten-free, soy free, lip balm. I was using Burts Bees but it contains soy. Three weeks ago, I tried a new organic lip balm mnade by a samll company called SANRE chocolate kiss. It is an organic product and I had a reaction to the product within a week (my lips were cracking ..like a form of dermatitis). The product contained honey, cocoa butter, zinc oxide, cocoa powder, lavender oil, lemon, vitamin E, beeswax, geranium, and coconut oil.

Then I switched to a product called Softlips organic (made by mentholatum) and my lips are even worse. This product contained ingredients similar to the SANRE product.

I also will not use products containing toxic chemicals like parabens and petroleum as I showed exposure to Xylene (a toxic environmental chemical)on my recent Organic Acids test. I am steering clear of Benzene, xylene, toulene products. I have been suffering from nocturnal sleep myoclonus for almost three years and it is ruining my life. I do not want to ingest any gluten, soy, dairy or toxic chemicals that could be causing or contributing to this problem.

After reviewing this, if you have any idease for a gluten-free, soy free, non-toxic lip balm, please let me know. I have been using olive oil for the past few days and it does not do the trick!

Thanks a million,

Sylvia ann :)

why not try making something of your own by mixing your favorite oil with coconut oil (for solidity)?

Maybe almond oil or something tasty like that.

I use Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm in peppermint, and I do not see any soy in the ingredients. I can't have soy, and I have never had a problem with this product. Which ingredient is soy?

That's what I do. I use coconut oil with just a very small amount of almond oil. I have a little bitty wisk and bowl that I combine them in.

It's not technically lip balm, but I use pure lanolin for chapped everything, including lips. It's marketed for chapped nipples for breastfeeding mothers (so you have to look for it on the baby aisle), and it works better than anything else I've ever tried.

Thank you for all the great ideas..Deb, I thought all the Burts Bees lip balms contained soy oil but I hope I am mistaken on the peppermint one. Do you know what the product's source of vitamin E is?

Thanks a million,

Sylvia Ann

What brand of almond oil do you use? One other question...have you found a safe all natural body lotion (no gluten soy, parabens or petroleum products). I am using Now's Joba Joba cocoa butter & jj oil but I would really like a lotion (for dry skin) when I am in a hurry.

Thanks a million for any ideas!

Have you ever heard of a cosmetic company called "Yes to Carrots"? I noticed their products at Target yesterday. I just looked them up and they state their lip balms are gluten-free and soy free. Have you ever heard of them or know anyone who has used them safely?

Thanks a million,

I use one by Aura Cacia but I would imagine any would be fine. I also use the Now's Cocoa butter and JJ oil. A little while back I got adventurous and tryed a lotion by Pangea Organics. French Camomile with sweet orange and lavender hand and body lotion. I have been using it now for 3 months with no problems but I didn't verify it but went by the ingredients.

I have used Suave but not in a long time so I don't remember if that had some form of soy in it or not.

I use Booda Organics all-natural lip balm.  It's vegan and handmade and lists the ingredients on their site. Smells yummy, heals my lips and leaves them softer. :)

What about redapplelipstick? I love their products Their balm looks ok, but I would ask to be sure: Open Original Shared Link

Rallye Balm
(net wt. .16 oz/4.5g)
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Mineral Wax, Vitamin E from a natural and gluten free source, Aloe Barbadensis

They say their products are allergen free, so I would think soy should be in that list but who knows. I love them but soy in small amounts really isn't an issue for me.

I also can't do soy, and while I still use some creams and stuff with soy in it with no problems (as far as I can tell. They work too well otherwise for me to switch), it definitely can't go on my lips.

Check out your local (if you have one) health food store and inspect all the labels. I've been using Hurraw!, which is organic and vegan, gluten and soy free. Made in the US. I used their sun protection (spf 15) for quite a while with no problems. It's nice and smooth too, and doesn't go all funny after a while like some organic lip glosses. Open Original Shared Link

No mention of soy anywhere. I suppose you could contact them to double-check, but I used to get an immediate "soyed" feeling with any glosses with soy, and no problemo with this one.

Good luck in your hunt!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
