Gene Testing

My husband and I want to have the gene test to see our predisposition to celiac disease. When we bring it up with doctors, they essentially blow us off stating that the test is too expensive since it will not be covered by insurance yet they cannot tell us how much it is. I only want a ball park of what to expect as we want to have this testing done. Does anyone know? We live in New York State so we are not permitted to order My Celiac ID or Enterolab tests. I am annoyed by this, but living in New York I have learned that the politicians here spend alot of time "protecting us from ourselves". I appreciate any information anyone can give me. I would like to move forward with this, but don't want to find out after the fact that it is thousands of dollars for each of us. Thanks!

Can you use a friends or relatives address where the test is available? The website of My Celiac ID says results are emailed to you so theres no way of them knowing what state you are really in. Just a thought...

I did try to have it sent to me at a relative's address, but since my billing address for my credit card is a New York address I was not permitted to place the order.

I had the genetic marker assay at Enterolab in 2006, the cost was about $200.

www.enterolab.com has a price list on the website.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
