  1. I've been on an Orson Scott Card kick lately, rereading all my faves. I would recommend starting with Ender's Game (and the following books) or Wyrms. Very enthralling sci-fi. I'm planning on hitting up the library for The Green Mile (Stephen King - I'm not usually a fan of his, too scary, but I LOVED this one). Another fun just fiction book I really enjoyed...
  2. **amazing even ** So I wanted to go out to pizza this week, and was going to be up in SLC on Thursday. Thought I'd plan that into my agenda. Then I read here on the forum about the other Pier 49's in the area bringing in the gluten-free crust. So I called the Springville, both of the Provo, and the AF locations. One of the Provo ones said they're getting...
  3. excellent recipes!!
  4. As far as I know, they only have one book so far, but I would definitely recommend it. I bought it for my aunt who has a wheat allergy, and she went out and got it for her gluten-eating daughter Hm, a good question, but not one I would be able to answer. I'm good at following the directions of a recipe, but not the person to tell you why or...
  5. Thanks for the help I just planted my tomatoes yesterday. Planning on doing some serious salsa/sauce making and freezing, possibly canning if I can put up with my grandma for an afternoon or two, so I planted 6!!! Whew! Anyone ever tried growing their tomatoes as "hanging plants"? Read an article about it last summer, and dying to try!
  6. I can't help but rave about this website. The 2 ladies who run it both live in my area, and host a cooking class once a month. They've helped me so much, and I have yet to make a bad recipe! I seriously reccommend their cookbook! I have almost ruined mine with so much use and so many spills (along with tears of joy at eating delicous baked goods again)! Definitely...
  7. lol i bought 4 boxes 2 weeks ago, and 2 more this week. definitely don't want to run out!!
  8. what specifically do you want to know about? throw out a few general questions for us it's a good topic to write about. i did a paper on celiac for my biology class last year. great way to spread the understanding!
  9. I read in a magazine last month (either BHG or real simple) that you can also use the "egg-water" when you hard boil eggs, just let it cool, and dump it out in the garden, and I guess it has calcium or some such nutrient plants like. Just thought I'd mention that. I have a hard time bending over too, both from the celiac gut and a pinched sciatic...
  10. OMG me too! I don't have to drive all the way up to SLC! Yay!
  11. wow, i've never tried the health valley ones, but if they're that much cheaper, you ought to stick with them. i guess it's just the whole "having a food taken away from you, and then having it be ok again" that's got everyone excited.
  12. I made these for a family brunch last weekend. They turned out sooo great! All my gluten-eating relatives were raving about them. My aunt even emptied the platter of them onto a paper plate when we were leaving. So much for leftovers Open Original Shared Link
  13. wish i had been told about the fries!!!!
  14. I went to the RFC last month when I was in Vegas. The waitress had the chef come down and talk with me about my options. There weren't many, but they did make me a good cedar plank salmon. They didn't have much else to go with it, just a small (kinda boring) salad, but the fish was yummy Wish I'd had some chips or a baked potato to go along with it
  15. mmm, that outback recipe looks really good! i might have to give this a try!
  16. I am so terrified of that...especially living down by the lake. Well, the only thing I can really do is be prepared, so that's what I'm trying to do....and trying NOT to think about earthquakes lol! lol
  17. Do tomatoes freeze well outside of sauces? I hadn't thought of freezing my excess garden tomatoes! I like to freeze my cooked meat in portions to make meals easier. I also like to freeze zucchini slices and shreds. I will make a couple loaves of bread or some pancakes and freeze them in single serving baggies.
  18. I made this too (we call it Muddy Buddies here ) and ate it every night after dinner. So delicious. I've also been bringing it to work with me and eating it plain for snacks. I had a bowl with strawberries and milk too, but the milk made my tummy hurt. I LOVE RICE CHEX!!!
  19. The BEST meal I have EVER had in my life was at McCormick and Schmick's down by the waterfront. It was also gluten free I had brie/shrimp/crab stuffed salmon and the caprese salad. for dessert I had this heavenly flourless chocolate truffle cake. Definitely a great place to visit!
