  1. awesome! thanks!
  2. my periods changed (worsened) once i got on birth control. i've noticed since going gluten free that every month i get "glutened"-like symptoms. i'd be interested to know what kind of correlation there is, if any, between the two.
  3. thanks! it was a great recipe! i've been eating the extra cupcakes all weekend
  4. cool!
  5. lol lol again!
  6. Thanks! That quote saved my marriage ...and continues to do so! I love Lara's oats! I've gone through several boxes since dx. They also have recipes for cookies and such in the box. Was buying the irish ones...can't remember what they're called, but Lara's are cheaper!
  7. so i keep hearing how great flax seed is, and i recently bought a container of it. what recipes do i use it in? i talked to the guy who raises the crop i bought, and he advised against using it ground, unless i grind it myself and use it right away (to reduce vitamin/mineral loss), so i might go out and get a small coffee grinder. any good ways to use it...
  8. Thanks! Ok I wasn't sure. I just usually don't go there if I see the words caramel color, since most companies aren't so helpful. But good to know for future reference!
  9. couldn't figure out how to post the pic, so you can find it on my blog.
  10. so i used Ursa's recipe for a black forest chocolate cake, link below, and it turned out wonderfully! was worried as i had a few setbacks-the first cake did not cook through, and collapsed on my kitchen counter while cooling. i just used the outside pieces, which were cooked, and used those to create the middle layer of the cake. i also made quite a mess...
  11. GFP has the right idea. the key is to make it work for you. don't think of it as a "diet" but rather as a lifestyle change. and while you're getting used to cutting everything else out of your diet, allow yourself the occasional "treat". but to keep yourself from over-indulging, get rid of everything you shouldn't be eating. i like to keep a bag of homemade...
  12. wow this looks amazing! i love how fluffy the filling looks! now to find some gluten-free vanilla wafers. i actually think i saw a recipe in a cookbook i just got for my b-day. will have to try it out!!! as far as crusts go, here's my absolute favorite!! any recipe i try by these girls is a sure winner! Open Original Shared Link i've made blackberry...
  13. i think you ought to test the waters a bit. i seem ok eating a bowl of oatmeal every morning (did that for awhile when i ran out of grocery money last month, and had no more cereals). i'd just be aware of how much you're consuming, and watching to see how it affects you. i'd also keep a couple different kinds of cookies on hand, so you're not just eating...
  14. here's a thought i had: what's being done for all those people in third world countries, who are unable to get the glutenfree food they need?
  15. OMG I love the Nutty Rice cereal! it's kinda plain on its own, but i love adding fruit to it! so good! but then...pre-dx, i was the only kid on the block who enjoyed eating cereals like plain cheerios.
  16. yes, this is a great help especially after working 10 hours, and coming home to an empty fridge...what's for dinner?? hm, i have no idea, definitely possible though! what would i need to do to find out?! what else in my house could be causing this maybe?
  17. i don't know if i have DH. it's not obvious if i do. the only places my skin acts funny are on my scalp (big white ugly flakes and itching constantly), and the hemmi's which i have noticed do correlate with my body reacting to a food flare up (beginning to think i might be dairy intolerant as well as celiac). wouldn't that be excellent?!
  18. LOL!! just thought i'd share my opinion on the ener-g bread. i bought a couple loaves when first dx-ed a year ago (been sitting in my pantry since. was very desperate for bread last week, so i ripped open a bag to make some tuna melts. kinda like eating your food on a paper plate, except you're eating the plate! anyway, i survived that one. so i...
  19. last year my traditional gluten-free dinner went great! this year, gonna make more pies!
  20. awww super cute! congratulations
  21. so far, the cake looks GREAT! i'm so excited to eat it tomorrow, but i want it to be good! it doesn't say whether to refrigerate overnight, but i'm concerned b/c it has dairy and egg products. HELP!!! thanks Open Original Shared Link
  22. i wonder if that might be part of my problem. do eggs work for you as far as "real meat"? just trying to think of what would be handy while on the job. i'm gonna start trying this whether i do the diet or not thanks!
  23. thanks all for your ideas. feeling better today, thankfully! though i may just have to invest in those witch hazel wipes. interesting...
  24. i did a skin prick test a couple months ago, they tested the main food allergens and candida. came back moderately reacting to wheat and dairy. don't know what the rast is, but i don't have insurance at the moment. plus, wanted to do something for both me and my husband, and he's too stubborn to go to the dr about his intestinal distress. maybe i will though...
  25. awesome recipes! for the porcupine meatballs, i'm assuming, but you didn't mention when to use the rice and egg. do you make them into the meatball mixture? i might try that one for dinner tonight! thanks for taking all the time to put these on here
