ARCHIVED Long Term Iron Supplementation for Women?
Gemini replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Floradix is a really good supplement for anemia and it doesn't cause constipation, which is such a problem for many when supplementing with iron. -
ARCHIVED High IGA levels?
Gemini replied to jsm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The testing that was done is for the Total Iga.....or so it would appear to me. This needs to be included on the test panel because it measures how much IgA your body makes and if you have a below normal range, it can skew the IgA testing on a Celiac panel. Anyone who is IgA deficient, and this can happen, cannot use the blood panel for testing. You cannot... -
ARCHIVED Edamame Spaghetti - Anyone Tried It?
Gemini replied to anyana's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the link. I am always interested in protein sources because I weight train. 24 grams per serving is phenomenal.......you usually only find that with animal sources.......which I am not averse to eating either but need variety! -
ARCHIVED Edamame Spaghetti - Anyone Tried It?
Gemini replied to anyana's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So, I'll address your question without resorting to scare tactics because I do use soy in my diet as I am dairy intolerant and I have yet to have my hormones do anything unusual except for the natural process of menopause! Believe me, when menopause starts, you won't be obsessing about soy........ I would not hesitate to give that pasta a shot because... -
ARCHIVED I'm back After Being Gone For Awhile
Gemini replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
With all of your medical problems, I would have to say that Celiac Disease might be another one that you suffer from. Those are all diseases and problems that seem to come with the territory and going strictly gluten free may just calm that immune system down and make it stop attacking your innards! Find the motivation to do it so you can have some of your... -
ARCHIVED ANA tests - different results
Gemini replied to LookingforAnswers15's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A very Happy New Year to you also! On to your questions....... The fact that the ANA testing was done in 2 different countries may explain the differences in results. It also could be that the positive result was very, very close to being a negative but without getting lab ranges and actual testing result numbers, you will not know. I really hate... -
When you have autoimmune problems, it is best not to constantly look on-line and read too deeply into things because, quite honestly, it can freak you out. Not everyone with AI problems will go on and develop really serious complications. Many people live quite normally and have few issues that arise. I make it a personal decision to not go to the doctors...

ARCHIVED My Heart (and Belly) are Full - Denver
Gemini replied to anyana's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Congratulations on eating out successfully! There are many restaurants who do a stellar job but it really depends on where you live whether it will be easier or harder to dine out. I have been to Colorado and it definitely is easier! That menu is making me drool......... -
For the VAST majority of Celiac's, 20ppm is completely safe. There are many scare-mongers out there who think it is not but I doubt that the medical profession or the Celiac Disease organizations that offer so much important information for us would say it is safe if it was not. Studies have been done to see what level can be consumed and not initiate the...

ARCHIVED Support?
Gemini replied to Kaj242's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Cris......what Bartfull stated is 100% correct. You cannot initiate the autoimmune response by smelling food, it has to enter the GI tract and that means it starts at your mouth. But let me say something else here before you become offended over something that should not offend you. I know exactly how you feel because I have the same "reaction" to strong... -
Open Original Shared Link Here is an article that will explain why tocopherols are safe for Celiac's to consume. There does not have to be a gluten free stamp on the bottle for it to safe. The company stated there was no gluten and tocopherols are not unsafe for consumption. I have used countless vitamins and supplements that contain this ingredient...

LookingforAnswer.......it's time to back away from the computer and stop googling stuff that is giving you anxiety! Here's the short on leukopenia.........its very common in people with multiple or even just one autoimmune disease. I have leukopenia and my WBC counts have been as low as 2.5. They will always be low and the only time you need to worry...

ARCHIVED Celiac panel positive
Gemini replied to manitourose's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a world of respect for people with those kinds of problems! It is not an easy topic to discuss, never mind have doctors poking around in your exit area. I am so sorry you have this trouble but, if you have Celiac Disease, it may help to follow the gluten-free diet. Your whole intestinal tract, including your colon can be affected by all that inflammation... -
I have had more dental work in my life from Celiac Disease and Sjogren's Syndrome, which I also have, and I have never found anything at the dentist which contained gluten. I have had 3 dental implants and they did impressions up the whazoo on me and I had no problems. I did a lot of research, calling the companies that make these materials and they are...

ARCHIVED Celiac panel positive
Gemini replied to manitourose's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would guess that he was referring to the tTg as that is the test that they hone in on because it measures intestinal damage. Higher numbers on that do not necessarily correlate with more severe damage, though. I would be willing to bet that the severe anxiety you suffer from will be greatly diminished after following the gluten-free diet for a while... -
Tory.....how far are you from NYC? Columbia University has a renowned Celiac Disease center and that might be a good option for someone who is already diagnosed but still having some issues. I am in Massachusetts myself but I think Boston would be much further to go than NYC. Unless someone has a good recommendation for your area, NYC might be the best...

Families can be the biggest obstacle with Celiac Disease. I hear you because I have the same kind of family. But I am 56 years old and live away from them so its not as hard for me to deal with. Let me say that I am totally impressed with you, as a 17 year old teen, that you have figured out your food issues and stick by your resolve to be healthy and...

ARCHIVED Recoving Quikly After Eating Contaminated gluten-free Food
Gemini replied to Currantbun's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
WOW!!!!! Glad you got that figured out. I have had mild anaphylactic reactions from allergies (seasonal) and it is NOT fun. Hope you feel a lot better now. -
ARCHIVED Increased Sensitivity since going gluten-free?
Gemini replied to Vasiliki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
vasiliki.....Absolutely!!!!! You have to remember that when you were eating gluten, you were bloated and sick so the reactions might not have been noticed as sharply as after you clean out your system and then sustain a hit. I had the same experience. My reactions went through the roof, as far as severity, once I had been gluten-free for awhile. FYI, I... -
ARCHIVED Still testing positive for celiac disease after 2 years gluten-free
Gemini replied to Tory's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, it is a good thing regarding your IgA antibodies! However, even though they came down dramatically since diagnosis, the Glaidin IgA number is the one that you eventually want to see as low as possible, as that tests for reaction to the gluten you may be consuming in your diet. If the normal range is <15, then you want to shoot for a less than 5... -
ARCHIVED corn starch connected with migraines and Sjogrens Syndrome
Gemini replied to Good life's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have had Sjogren's Syndrome for well over 30 years and what you describe is most likely due to exposure to allergens, which in tune aggravates your allergies, which in turn aggravate Sjogren's symptoms. You have many of the non-food allergies I have and continued exposure to them will make symptoms worse, in an indirect way. Your mucous membranes will...- 3 replies

Hello Lisa......I am another Lisa. I have met a lot of people with Celiac whose names are Lisa so it has been joked around here that having the name of Lisa is a symptom of Celiac Disease. On to your question.......I have had candida and was diagnosed with Celiac in 2005. Your doctor is correct......the two problems are not strangers to each other...

ARCHIVED Interpreting celiac serology
Gemini replied to Donna73's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The DGP tests are for reaction to the gluten you are ingesting. Needless to say, your body does not like gluten. The Ttg IgA tests for damage to your intestine but the high number does not necessarily correlate with more severe damage. Some people have low numbers with a lot of damage at biopsy and others have high numbers with more moderate damage... -
ARCHIVED Positive Antibodies After 2 years
Gemini replied to SueOba's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are the 2 top tests the AGA IgA/IgG, to test for your reaction to gluten that you are consuming? What are the reference ranges on each test you listed for the normal ranges? It would help to know the answer on both. Looking at this without knowing the above, I would say you have been doing a good job of avoiding gluten overall. Your Ttg looks like... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs who struggle with dairy...a2 milk?
Gemini replied to DandelionH's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I found a store in NH that stocks this milk. My father lives in NH and I am visiting this Christmas so I am going to try and buy some and test it out. It's right on the way to his house. I am not so much interested in becoming a milk drinker again but it would be nice to enjoy a good cream sauce or pudding now and again. I also could use all the calcium...
