  1. From what I understand, even if it doesn't contain wheat, it could still contain gluten. In malt or some other thing. I air on the side of paranoia or extra safety. I basically don't eat anything unless I have previously looked it up and/or investigated and have had it confirmed as 'gluten free.' By calling the company, or doing a google search to hopefully...
  2. Thanks you two. I did read the label last time and there was no wheat, barely, malt or rye. But again, I had it in my head that it wasn't safe for some reason (that only a special type of breyer' was safe), so I figured there was some gluten hidden in the 'natural flavors' or something along those lines. The only flavors they usually have at work are vanilla...
  3. Anyone? Can please help me out with what I asked above? ^
  4. Can someone help me out with Breyer's ice cream. Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere. For the most part is Breyer's ice cream gluten free? Like the basic flavors at least (vanilla, chocolate). I've seen that "Breyer's All Natural Ice Cream" is gluten free. Is this the same thing as just their standard ice cream? Or is this a separate...
  5. Ooh this is what I want!! "Combination therapy (hookworm plus whipworm): $3,900.00 and is recommended for all but ulcerative colitis clients. Besides offering the best chance for achieving full drug-free remission Combination Therapy includes one free reinfection with whipworm when they die of old age around two years after the original treatment. Cost...
  6. Hm wanting to be tested for your kid's sake is a good point. And, you can get a genetic test for a celiac gene? Maybe at some point in my life I'll try that. I don't want kids, but just of curiosity. My story is similar to many others', I'm sure. I suffered for years with GI problems too, getting gradually worse and worse. Went to doctors, had several...
  7. I was thinking, too. If the lil' hookworm ends up helping the human with celiac, it's more like 'mutualism' between two organisms, right? If they are both benefiting from each other. So the worm wouldn't really be a 'parasite' anymore (which is one benefiting off of the other whilst harming it). Or would the human be the parasite, if the immune system...
  8. That line makes the hookworms seem kinda cute. Keep 'their' hookworm. Aww their little friend helpin' them out.
  9. Lol. Exactly, modiddly, exactly.
  10. For sandwich bread I like Glutino's Harvest Corn bread, in a yellow bag. It needs to be toasted first though. I also like Against the Grain's baguette like someone said. As for quick n' easy food, I'm all for that. Amy's gluten free macaroni and cheese is pretty good. Microwavable in under 10 minutes. If she goes to school it might be a problem...
  11. Thanks to everyone who responded so far. Perhaps I shall try something from Panera Bread soon...
  12. Hi msmini. There's a Chipotle thread goin' here... https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=62866
  13. I'll add to the general consensus that they are not gluten free friendly. My boss when she was catching on to the gluten free diet by default of being my boss, was ordering food from CPK herself and thought, while she was at it, she'd ask if they offered any gluten free items. To which they said "No." And that was that!
  14. Yep, that's exactly it. The Harvest Corn bread. I actually just came from my kitchen, looked at it, and came on here to say what it was! Lol. I'm not sure if I've tried the flax and fiber breads. Maybe I'll have to give it a try. But I do really like the Harvest Corn Glutino bread. I toast and 'salt' it and, I don't know, it really hits the spot for...
  15. This thread is interesting. Me, my mom and sister are all very naturally thin. But I was always the one with the 'pooch' or the little mini 'potbelly' etc. It was never actual fat, just a poofy little stomach that got worse after eating (naturally). I wonder now if it has to do with this whole gluten thing. I still have it though, lol, so maybe not...
  16. I'm trying the luovral one. It has been giving me some feelings of motion sickness off and on that I am hoping will go away eventually. And yeah, I've been to the gyno with this. I started back when I was 13-14 when it was writhing-in-bed-bad. They recommended birth control back then which I didn't want!! Then they gave Vioxx which worked very well...
  17. It'll make for awkward times at work, too. I started it in college but during that semester I didn't have many friends so, lol, maybe that worked out in my 'favor' gluten wise. But there have been several times I feel left out food wise and...it's always awkward. I'm glad when people do react more like "wow you can't eat anything!" because at least then...
  18. Hi Tarnalberry, Thanks for the response. Why was it that you stopped the birth control? That's where I am now. It's supposed to lessen the cramps. I didn't notice a massive amount of relief, but it is better than writhing bed ridden (which I've had before). But I see that I still need at least something over the counter to help. But I ain't touchin...
  19. I'm getting kinda tired of eating at Chipotle all the time for a 'quick' meal and am tempted to try a salad or something from Panera. I haven't tried it yet, just typical gluten-paranoia. So what's the general consensus on Panera... Have others eaten from here successfully?
  20. I started my gluten-free diet when in Blacksburg, Virginia. I graduated 2007 from Tech (yes same time as the shooting) and then have since left. I don't remember any gluten-free pizza places. It was nice that most of the Krogers have separate little health sections which is where I found some frozen gluten free items, like Amy's rice pizza and her cheese...
  21. Oddly enough I've had the same sort of experiences. I always die a little inside when I see the staff automatically grab a flour tortilla when the next customer comes up, assuming they will order one. But I've never asked them to change gloves and have never had a problem. I get a buritto bowl (rice, chicken, cheese, medium salsa, lettuce) or a taco (with...
  22. Motrin was okay for me gluten-wise. But be careful not to take more than it says to. I was doctor-ordered to take 'extra' motrin for cramps and over the years it gave me intense heartburn and beyond. Just throwin' that out there. But as far as gluten-attacks, it was fine.
  23. I really really like the Glutino brand sandwhich bread. Not sure its specific name, but it comes in a yellow bag. I like that better than 'real' sandwhich bread anyway. It needs to be toasted or something first, in my opinion. But I could eat five of those toasted with just canola oil and garlic salt or something and be good. There is this other baguette...
  24. Alka-seltzer has been okay for me....
  25. I remember one time it made me jittery and anxious and twitchy, so I swore off wanting to use it which lead me down the path I'm on now. Funny that I'm back to square one! They gave me Vioxx which worked really great but eventually that got pulled from the market. Then they told me to take extra Motrin, which worked okay for the past 5+ years, until this...
