  1. Thanks for the warning!
  2. My reactions were always unbearable, which is what drove me to do this diet in the first place. After going gluten-free...for me...it hasn't gotten worse. The two times I've "glutened" myself, it was the same as before, in all of its awful glory. Served as painful reminders of why I go through all the extreme headache of being on this diet.
  3. $55 is nothing. I used to pay around $50-80 for just ME, even before I was gluten free. And yeah, the mother-in-law, what more can be said that hasn't already. You have a lot more patience than I do. Like others said..she sounds potentially mentally unsound, plus bitter, lonely and desperate. I admire your husband coming out of that house in one piece...
  4. To the original poster...thanks for that vent, I needed it. Makes me feel less alone. I know I often come off as "paranoid" or like I don't trust other people...but the truth is, mistakes can often be made and I HATE the consequences. I get it bad -- I mean, the symptoms are what made me throw in the towel to this restrictive diet anyway. The two times...
  5. Sandsurfgirl. I posted this on another thread. If it makes you feel any better, emotionally I took a nose dive about 3 months after going gluten free. Not sure if it is connected or not, but I can't help think it is. I was very lucky in that my awful physical symptoms went away instantly. But for some reason, I hit one of my mental-worsts three months...
  6. Yes, I did. I didn't make the connection till earlier this year, although that was 3 years ago. Although my physical symptoms went away instantly (which was joyous)...within 3 months I hit a low as far as high, high anxiety, depression, a lot of confusion/fog...etc. Was it gluten-withdrawal? I don't know. There were other contributing factors, but the...
  7. I would be infuriated. Maybe she's a psychopath...or maybe she's just one of those eye-rolling people who doesn't take celiac/gluten intolerance seriously. Maybe she's had experience with someone who has feigned-illnesses and so she was trying to prove a point, that it's "all in your head" or some bull crap. Or she was just lazy, wanted to use the wheat...
  8. That was EXACTLY how I was...but BEFORE going gluten - free. Stress unequivocally provoked the "attacks." I remember thinking it felt like someone pressing a button of this poison into my stomach, constant pressing as I felt nervous that would always end in some digestive attack. But after going gluten free, that went a way. For a while the nervousness...
  9. I have the same problem! I like those little pizzas but I have the soggy middle problem lately as well. It's annoying. There was also a period where all the cheese seemed to be pushed off or something weird but that stopped. Sorry, no solution though...guess it's not just me or you cooking it wrong.
  10. Open Original Shared Link There ya go. I don'[t know if they all have the gluten free thing. I actually haven't been to any yet but I heard they had a gluten free menu and DaveTerp seems to confirm.
  11. I can't speak to the allergy/wheezing. But when the gluten hits me and the digestive system, basically I sigh a resigned sigh, writhe about and just have to let it get itself out of my system...painful and exhausting as it is. Sorry. At least with me it got the point that I could predict it pretty well. I knew what was coming next, about how long it...
  12. I've had that happen occasionally over the past decade. I always chalked it up to stress.
  13. ... I completely agree. Usually people who are insecure about their own weight or eating habits are the first to bring it up or keep rubbing it in people's faces. Or will loudly voice that they "hate you" if you're skinny, etc., always guilt-tripping you for doing nothing wrong just because they lack self-control. I've gotten that all my life nothing...
  14. Pulling your boss aside does not make you a whiny child. And it shouldn't appear that way to others, either. We don't have the whimsy to just restaurant hop like everyone else does. It IS a big deal if they want us to be able to eat anything. I probably would have been too paranoid to try the rice. Obviously rice and steamed shrimp are safe themselves...
  15. Oh cool, thanks. Let us know! (And lol to your son.)
  16. Has anyone successfully eaten any of those above frozen dinners? I would love to have more 'quick' gluten free options to microwave at work, etc. I even used to eat the country glazed chicken before going gluten free so it'd be nice to re-add old dishes of the past. lol.
  17. Picked an old thread about Five Guys and wanted to tack on my question. Yesterday I got some fries and noticed they had 'regular' or 'cajun.' I don't remember seeing the cajun option before. But generally I prefer things more spiced/salty so I would like to try it if I can. Does anyone know if the Cajun spiced fries at Five Guys are gluten free?
  18. So you didn't get sick from it? That's the key! I've wanted to try it but as always am hesitant to do so.
  19. No it doesn't! I think it IS logical to BE angry! I never went through that grieving period. Maybe I was 'lucky' in that I was suffering so bad, I was at the end of my rope and thus was hoping that the gluten-free diet would work...I was desperate for ANYthing to work. So when it did, and I began to realize my freedom from the erratic, unpredicatble...
  20. I've always been a salt-mongering fiend and still am. I know it's not healthy. It's like my tongue doesn't want to eat something unless there's those granules of tangy salt on it. (Unless it's chocolate or something sweet, lol.) What's that about electrolytes? Don't even know what those are. I always figured it was a taste palate thing. I remember...
  21. Looks good. I wonder if the P.F. Chang's where I live has those additions. Your menu seems to have more chicken items than mine did when I went in December, too. I'll have to check it out...
  22. Sorry to hear all that. And I can empathize with that incident where your friend brought over the marinated chicken even though said it shouldn't have it. There have been many times where I've felt that I'm secretly 'insulting' someone when I turn down their food. Like, they try to help or they do this or that...but something will be wrong with it and I...
  23. Uh, maybe. I mean I don't know exactly what you're seeing. But definitely those times right before I've passed out...things get blotchy and spotty then all turns black But there've been a few times in my life, if I'm lying down and get up suddenly or...something. I might see some splotches. A few times I've seen little sparking things. not really...
  24. Mucinex was fine for me...I think I got the one for lung congestion. Also the doctor gave me an antibiotic that was fine but I can't remember what is now (sorry). Might have just been the 'Z-pack' or whatever. Open Original Shared Link is helpful. I bring it with me to every doctor appointment and make sure the doctor finds a drug that is on there...
  25. yeah I abhor the smell of fish And I completely agree that if you cook something in the microwave after it, it has a linger fishy taste! God I hate seafood. So because I'm biased, I'd say don't microwave it at work!! Because it really is a strong and offensive smell. But I do feel sympathetic in that it sounds you have more than one intolerance...
