  1. I have both Hashimoto's Disease and Coeliac Disease. I was diagnosed with Hashi's in 1994. Since the early '50's when I was a child I always had bowel problems. Was told I had "mucous colitis" at college in 1969 then it morphed in to "IBS" in the '80's when that became popular(both diagnoses without any diagnostic testing. 3 or so years ago a friend...
  2. The "eczema" could be dermatitis herpetiformis which is conclusive of celiac disease
  3. Hi everyone just thought I'd bump this back to the top for 2010, see if there are any newbies.
  4. ((Hugs)) If your parents will not listen is there a school counsellor/teacher/pastor/youth leader/some-one you can trust enough to talk to? Otherwise I would do as others have said and let them take you to the eating disorders clinic where you can talk to some-one who will listen
  5. Have you checked the ingredients list of what you buy, could they have changed? The first few months I stuck to fresh fruit/veg/meat chicken
  6. In Australia a GP can order the tests you don't need an endo. You need TSH, FREE T3, FREE T4, TgAb and TPO antibodies (for Hashimoto's Disease) as a minimum
  7. I worked it out with the help of a friend and was diagnosed by biopsy/antibodies 12 months later
  8. I had endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time. One minute I was awake talking to the anaesthetist as he told me what he was doing .....it's only an IV sedation in the hand not a full on mask job, and the next I was waking up in recovery.....no after effects at all not even a sore throat...easy as pie
  9. No but I actually dream in colour............ I didn't know most people dream in black and white LOL
  10. Dragging the thread off topic I know several people who walk their cat and on a lead
  11. I've had both scopes done, can't help you with prep as am in Australia and can't remember the names The whole thing though wasn't as "scary" as I thought it would be, neither the preparation nor the actual procedures. One minute I was awake in the room they were doing the scopes in, the next I was waking up back in recovery LOL
  12. I would also get your B12 checked if you haven't already, tingling hands/feet is a symptom of low B12/ pernicious anaemia , an auto-immune disease once you have one auto-immune disease....... I also have Hashi's............. you are at risk of others
  13. Vitamin E is often derived from wheat so check the source.
  14. Yes I am 61 also Was diagnosed over 2 years ago via biopsy and antibodies after nearly 50 years of being stuck with "other labels" the most persisent one being "IBS"
  15. ((Hugs)) My husband left me after 23 years of marriage because he didn't believe I was sick. Actually told me if he thought I was really sick he wouldn't go.............. was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease the following year He can't even say it's my imagination I have the biopsy and blood tests to prove it! Nearly 50 years of being undiagnosed has left...
  16. Free T3 is the active hormone ........... it is what your body uses for energy/ get up and go It's not really telling the doctor "what to do" but as Mother of Jibril said being proactive Why did doctors miss my Coeliac Disease for nearly 50 years? It didn't even enter my head til talking to some-one on a thyroid forum 3 years ago. All those years when...
  17. I'd get tested asap My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 2 years ago at the age of 31. He had ketoacidosis which is a very serious (and fatal) consequence of uncontrolled diabetes. I don't want to scare you but honestly it needs investigating. His symptoms were 10 kilo weight loss, running to the bathroom and unquenchable thirst. He was a hair...
  18. I'm on my third day atm. I haven't been glutened for months even when out but got glutened by c/c when out on Monday night.......it's been really miserable. The D has passed but still stomach cramps and pains so another quiet day but might be able to manage some pottering around the house catching up on things like washing
  19. Mis diagnosed with IBS for close to 50 years............ first it was called "mucous colitis" but then IBS became "fashionable" so got that label............ all w/o testing of course
  20. I understand.............. undiagnosed for nearly 50 years so have permanent damage.Sometimes I wonder if this is as good as it's going to get............ it cost me my marriage ( ex-husband didn't believe I was sick, was making it up to get out of looking after the family) and early retirement from work . BUT being gluten-free is sooo much better.I was...
  21. Me too I've never really never known a time when I didn't love Him Would appreciate some prayers on a distressing personal situation I'm in atm. My daughter who is 23 also loves the Lord and is in Bible College. I can really feel it when people pray for me and I'm sure she's been doing it a lot lately as I've sensed calm amongst the storm I'm positive...
  22. Welcome! Check the label on the corn flakes packet.......... all corn flakes in Australia unless they specifically say gluten free, contain gluten
  23. It's only here in South Australia, other states may be OK. I know NSW is I had to give up in 1994 when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease and unaware that I had Coeliac Disease. They said it was because the cause of AI disease is unknown
  24. I am unable to. Here where I live they don't accept blood donations from anyone that has an auto-immune disease
  25. My tTG was 300 (0-15) when diagnosed .
