ARCHIVED Egg Allergy Thread
Juliebove replied to huevo-no-bueno's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I know the feeling. My favorite meal used to be a big salad, but due to my gastroparesis, that just doesn't work any more. -
ARCHIVED Egg Allergy Thread
Juliebove replied to huevo-no-bueno's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You might beware of that chicken. I've seen a lot of it that contains milk, wheat, and or soy. We do have additional allergies to watch out for. My daughter can only have chicken if it is plain chicken that they cook from scratch. The frozen stuff always has additives, it seems. My mom is allergic to chicken and my daughter shows some number on the... -
ARCHIVED Egg Allergy Thread

My mom, daughter and I all have an egg allergy. They are indeed hard to avoid. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Veggie "burgers"?
Juliebove replied to Maureen73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had my health food store order the Southwestern Style Sunshine burgers. They are sooooo good! Better than a hamburger. Wish I had bought more of them. I want another, and another. -
I use Spectrum.

ARCHIVED Fast Food Choices?
Juliebove replied to todzwife's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We have additional food allergies so eating out is tough. Mainly we don't do fast food, but occasionally we'll go to Wendy's. We might have chili, side salad (no dressing), mandarin oranges, baked potato or fries. -
ARCHIVED Whey Out Chocolate
Juliebove posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ordered some of this for my daughter and it's really good. Most of it is free of all allergens. There are a couple that have soybean oil and one kind that has pretzel pieces (gluten), but the rest is free of all allergens. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Bulk Food Olive Bars
Juliebove replied to scottyfeelsick's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think it would depend on what's near them. I know of some stores that have just olives on the bar but others that have other things. Just tonight my daughter got some salad from a salad bar and I could see shreds of cheese on her fruit. Guess she wasn't paying attention. We are allergic to cheese. Normally I check and if I see anything slopped where... -

ARCHIVED Glutin Free Retaurants In Wa
Juliebove replied to heep70's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Do you know where the gluten-free menu for Claim Jumper's is? The only one I could find online was outdated, and at that it didn't appear there was much on it. -
ARCHIVED Hard Candies -help Veterans?
Juliebove replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Brachs and Sathers are not necessarily gluten-free. My daughter eats those on occasion and has had no problems with them. Life Savers, Charms and Jolly Ranchers are all gluten free. I bought my daughter some Yummy Earth peppermint hard candy online (can't remember where), but she hasn't tried them yet. Customers at HSN give them a good rating though... -
ARCHIVED Orgran Gfg (gluten Free Gluten Replacer)
Juliebove replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I got it online but I don't remember where. -
ARCHIVED Chili Sauce
Juliebove replied to Nashville's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't say for sure but I used Heinz chili sauce a couple of days ago and daughter didn't react to it. I normally buy a locally made chili sauce. Don't have any right now so don't know the name of it. -
ARCHIVED Making Chocolate Candy
Juliebove replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sounds like you are getting the chocolate too hot. I used to melt over hot water, but now I just use the microwave. Set it at half power and stir every 30 seconds. The chocolate is done when it just begins to soften and get shiny. The chips won't really look melted but stirring will melt them the rest of the way. If this is not quite enough, you can... -
ARCHIVED I Think My Dd Has Adhd
Juliebove replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You should have her checked for food allergies. My daughter started having trouble in the 1st grade and the school thought she had ADHD. It runs in the family. But the Drs. didn't think she had this. Turns out the problem was allergies to many foods that she was eating on a regular basis. Eating them made her not only ill (but not an instant reaction... -

ARCHIVED Glutin Free Retaurants In Wa
Juliebove replied to heep70's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Emory's on Silver Lake in Everett has a gluten free menu. Open Original Shared Link At the Alderwood Mall in Lynwood is P.F. Chang's. They have a gluten free menu. Near the mall is The Old Spaghetti Factory. They have gluten free pasta. Not sure about the other locations. I don't think they all have the gluten-free pasta. Also near the mall... -
ARCHIVED Pb Loco Peanut Butter Flavors
Juliebove replied to Dolcenotte's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to assume that modified food starch was not okay, but... With the new labeling laws, they will have to declare if it is made from wheat. Turns out most modified food starch is made from corn. -
ARCHIVED What's Up With My Kid.?
Juliebove replied to missy'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What kind of blood test was it? If it was the RAST test, there are different numbers for each food. It is more than a matter of testing positive. -
ARCHIVED Nail Polish Cross Contamination?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I would rather give it as gifts. I would feel terrible selling it because it came from my daughter's dance studio and I know the woman who picked it all out. She works for MAC. I don't really wear much makeup anyway. Mostly mineral makeup. There are a couple of lip glosses and a facial wash I can use. And maybe the nail polish. A couple of the makeup... -
Last night I won a gift basket with $600 worth of MAC cosmetics in it. Nice, but... Daughter is allergic to soy and wheat (among other things) and I am allergic to almonds (among other things). So some of the cosmetics will have to be given away because they contain these things and we can't use them. The nail polish contains soy. I am not allergic...

ARCHIVED Facial Moisturizers & Public Soap
Juliebove replied to grey's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You can get soap leaves to carrry in your purse. They are usually scented and you would of course have to check the ingredients. I sometimes do not use soap in a public restroom if I am unfamiliar with it. My daughter and I have additional allergies though and we do react topically. If I do use it, I use only one small drop the first time and rinse really... -
I am allergic to dairy. The last few times I ate out and found a speck of cheese in my food, I picked it out and carefully sorted through the rest looking for more cheese. But a few hours after eating, I felt dizzy and panicky and my BP dropped rapidly. So it sure could be a food allergy.

ARCHIVED Lollipops Are They Normally Gluten Free?
Juliebove replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It really depends on who makes them. Some companies like Brachs and Sathers say their candy is manufactured in a plant that also processes just about every known allergen except maybe fish. My daughter eats the Starlight mints and other hard candies and has never had a problem. But if you are really worried, Candy Tree makes some gluten free lollipops... -
I bought some shells for stuffing and then realized I didn't know what to do with them. I was talking to someone who said she was going to make some stuffed with salmon and served with a cream sauce. We don't like salmon and can't have cream sauce so I came up with this. Now I didn't measure everything exactly, but it is a very forgiving recipe. You can...
